dvi and hdmi, they are electrically compatible so they can be interconnected, but hdmi has audio and remote-control features that dvi doesn't have

read this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI

did you guys fail reading comprehension or what? rclxub.gif

@carbonfibre

if you are asking if its better than using component, yes because component signal is analog, and your TV is digital - so if you use component, the signal has to be converted to analog first by your display card, then back to digital in your TV so it can display the picture. This may or may not produces artifacts, but it is always better not to mess with converting signals between digital and analog domains.

By all means, use the DVI-HDMI cable, or an adapter

okay thanks guys what i actually wanna know..

is is there any point using HDMI ( output ) to a NON HDMI Input LCD ( will be connected here by dvi.. compared to just changing my LCD to have a HDMI input?

@carbonfibre

there is no difference between using a HDMI straight or HDMI-DVI - they are compatible digital video transports.

compared to buying a new LCD altogether? no idea... is the new LCD going to have a better video processor than your comp video card? is the new LCD better than the current LCD?

you are asking if you should spend US$9 compared to RM 2500 or whatever a full HD LCD costs nowadays?

I think the question is - do you want a new LCD?
