When u wear a Manchester United jersey in a game in Old Trafford, they will not say "Go home la", instead, they would be proud they have fans all over the world. Boy. that shows how 'kampung' and culture shock you are even in KL.! You see, thats the difference ! your set of mentality say it all. Thank you for exposing yerself ! Ha ha ha. All i can say is this...Please dont say something that degrading yerself alrite. Let me ask u another question. Do you know who is Kobe Bryant? Do u know who is Lebron James? QUOTE(KLschoolkid @ Nov 17 2009, 06:03 PM) Football is of course a local sports. I like play football too with my brother in the wide green field, the smell of the grass, the air, the trees, the skies....its real football i guess with massive green field. No Offence? I take UMBRAGE.Behind this leisure activities, its a sports, behind this sport theres a game, behind this games theres a match, behind this match theres a competition and prizes. Behind this prizes theres a industry...a sport industries. Unlike Malaysia, these sports industries had evolved far many decades in comparison. Its goes as further to advertisements campaign, sports products from clothing, gears to food/drinks, sponsorships, contract, infrastrusture, media campaign, taxation, mercahndizing and in 1990s Britain had strategically went on robustly in their sports global marketing in brainwashing kids into the idolistism of their footbal merchandizing and products. Well, their plan succeed. Look in Malaysia. How many are proud wearing foreign footbal jersey clubs? sadly, some even fight amongst each other due to issues of foreign footbal clubs and funnily they're not even on the so-called 'home ground' and never been there in worst case. If foreigners like Malaysian wearing their footbal jersey clubs there in Britain say for example, do you think they wil be accepted by local Brits? One thing for sure is that they will get free-cursing by Brits like " Go home !" "What u idiots doing wearing our jersey?!", especially by hooligans or even kids. I dare you try it in the mid of real football environment in Britain. Do you think they will perceive in this manner..." Ha? you're from Malaysia? You know our Club? Oh...surprise...come, lets watch footbal together...welcome to Britain..." Ha ha ha...you are joker then. Either you ll get this " WTF you're doin with this jersey you F**KING SH*T ! !!! Take it off !!! Go home!!!" or you'll get a bottle smash on yer head from somewhere! You know something, its so sad even, when theres a match between say Malaysia and brit footbal club , some malaysian even proud in wearing a jersey of that brit club...????? Mannn...its so phatetic! These people knew nothing I supposed! Worst than a cultural shock syndrome! To the eyes of themselves of wearing foreign football jersey /products, they look or seem proud, even patch stickers to their cars! To the foreigners themsleves seeing people not from ther home-ground worst from other countries wearing their footbal jersey and being unnecessaryly proud, they will only see these people as fools. SO, IF YOU PEOPLE OUT THERE WISH TO GO ALL OUT ON ANY FOREIGN FOOTBALL PRODUCTS AND PROUD OF THEM , BE CAREFUL ... AS YOU WOULD PROBABLY BEING LAUGH AS FOOLY PROUD ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE IN KL NO OFFENCE! Keano, Keano (aka KLschoolkid) you better tend to your Tractor boys else you might find yourself relegated to managing a Coca-Cola League 1 team. Now you will be forever reviled by all EPL fans! Hi rebel_azri,very well said, i like it. thnks fer de compliments , anyway am not feel proud of anything. and thanks fer de concern...am alrite so far, cheers mate. to tell u the truth, am not against u boys - malaysian boys. being a malaysian miself am always back our boys. my writings simply focus on certain negative attitudes pertaining the above issue and NOT the way the sports is perceived and absorb in a positive manner ...well thats fine, and its your turf and you know better than me. i have no objection/s to such positive perceptions. the embracement of foreign football in positive manner are just fine and could roots to beneficial sub-culture impact. else if such embracement in negative manner and attitudes could only planting pathetic degrading sub-cultures values as a whole. am just stating the facts ( little facts that is amongst many incidents and the way 'they (home ground supporter over there) see things and look ) in general are not as you boys had in mind am afraid . i understand the facts that i stated earlier can be painful to some. but i guess its ought to be highlighted so as the least bringing better understanding to the difference and whats really happening in both side of the world. Finally, any actions taken , hopefully not degrading and humiliating youself boys. I dont want our boys to just humiliating themselves with or without they realising it. QUOTE(IcyDarling @ Nov 17 2009, 09:02 PM) if we are fools for supporting British football clubs, what is the newspaper publishers? In TheStar, normally 3 or 4 pages will be used to cover the news of EPL, Serie A, Liga BBVA . While maybe half a page is used to cover Malaysia Cup(is it..?). KLSchoolKid is? Read Rizal Abdullah Shame on you media bossesQUOTE FOR once, in a long time, Malaysian football got into the front and back pages of local newspapers. And football fans managed to get their pictures splashed on the front and back pages in some dailies. One local English daily even printed the picture of fans wearing white T-shirts with the words in red reading “WE LOVE UNITED” on both the front and back pages of the tabloid. How nice if only it read: “WE LOVE MALAYSIA” There was a picture of a MU fan who carried a placard with the following words “Will give my sister 4 picture with OWEN” … just wonder what it meant. Yes. English champions Manchester United were in town. They played not one but two matches. In the first match, Malaysia stole some limelight with a brace by Amri Yahyah in their 3-2 defeat. In the second match played under cooler conditions, United walked away 2-0 winners. Tickets were a pricey RM58 for free seating and a whopping RM308 for the grandstand. The National Stadium in Bukit Jalil was turned into a sea of red. The fans, of all ages, came out in full force and some 100,000 packed into the stadium — clad in jerseys, shorts, caps, scarfs, bandanas. And if a report in a local daily is true, it is heartening to note that local sports journalists displayed national pride by covering the game attired in national colours. Many of the “big bosses” in the media are ardent fans of MU, Liverpool, Arsenal but let’s not forget that they have a role to play for the country in developing sports. To these “big bosses” of the print media, sports will thrive if you can change policies in your media. Day in and day out you get nothing in the back pages but full coverage of foreign teams, especially the English Premier League. Where is your national pride? It is a shame that you don’t even get to see the results of the local Premier League matches in the newspapers these days while Division Two and Three results from European countries are getting space. Forget about getting any coverage for local football tournaments. Gone are the days when budding talent in local sports used to get full coverage, complete with profiles and so on. Dollah Salleh was an unknown name but he turned out to be one of the best known left-footers in Malaysian football. Without publicity, his exploits on the field would not have made him a household name in the country. Who can forget about Hassan Sani, James Wong, Santokh Singh, Zainal Abidin Hassan, Shukor Salleh, Namat Abdullah, Sharuddin Abdullah, Isa Bakar, Ali Bakar, Wong Choon Wah, Chow Chee Keong, Lim Fung Kee, M. Chandran, the late Mokhtar Dahari and V. Arumugam. The list goes on. If the standard of Malaysian sports, especially football, has seen a steady drop in world rankings, the local print and electronic media must take some of the blame for that. It is a shame that local dailies have been giving up to four pages to foreign football — up two pages for English football, a page for Spanish football, a page to French or Italian football or even German football. Why are we giving such wide coverage for foreign football? It is sad to note that the marriage or divorce of a foreign footballer can be a lead story in the Malaysian print media while a sportsman or a sportswoman in Malaysia who is suffering from an illness hardly gets into the news here. Do we need foreign football greats getting into a brawl in a pub as role models for local consumption (reading)? It is time the local media took stock and put things in the right perspective. And the FA of Malaysia should be reminded that one good performance against the multi-millionaires (MU) does not make Malaysia world-beaters or even the best in the Southeast Asian region. Rome was not built in a day. Keep the team together and keep K. Rajagobal. In saying that, one bad tournament does not mean the end of the world either. Get your house in order, FAM, and get the M-League restructured to achieve the desired results. This year’s M-League fixtures were in total disarray again. Take a hard look at the kickoff time. And finally do not look for a scapegoat when things go bad. The policymakers must walk the talk Blaming FAM for the downward spiral of local football? In his 2008 book 'The Fix' (a good book to read to understand the malaise in Malaysian football) Declan Hill suggested possible match-fixing at the highest levels of professional association football. The main thrust of his book is that Malaysians are notoriously or infamously known for fixing worldwide matches. Malaysia Boleh. KLscholkid has some valid points but the issues are more than that. Everything is $$$$. Have we consider legit bookmakers especially British -Irish or English (to 'unfix'). Have we missed the Russian connections? BTW, how many of you guys wondered why Essien was subbed out by Hidink after 'baggioing' a nice layup at the top of the box at the last CL against Barca. Nimrod, KLschoolkid is not Newfag. i understand ur trying to create an awereness about thing ur saw while u are away but sumtimes things work differently. it is kinda possible to change perception about things people love doing.in this life there are positive n negative aspect in all act.for example smoking.everyone knows dat smoking is bad for health but certain people doesnt want to quit coz they just love the satisfaction of smoking.same to apply to football.n read several post b4 n i notice dat ur using inappropriate words towards lyn members especially to my friend nimrod.i hope u can apologise to him. we are here to discuss n not to argue with each other.
