had to do a full factory restore after installing winterboard cuz it needs reboot and it stuck on black screen after apple logo, even plugged in usb to pc and run blackra1n to boot still same, any solutions?

in iclarified site, it says:

So does blackrain support un-tethered JB for iphone 3gs 3.1.2 now? confused. >.< is the info in first page outdated?

Update 1:  [Don’t go near this if you have 3GS, newer ipt2G, or any ipt3G] Thanks to daring experimenters in the comments, we can confirm that yesterday’s redsn0w works for today’s 3.1.3 update for iPhone 2G.  Just point it at the 3.1.2 iPhone 2G IPSW after doing update or restore to 3.1.3.  So far we’ve only confirmed this for iPhone 2G.  (Note that if this does work for iPhone 3G too, you can *only* use it if you don’t care about the unlock.)

Update 2: [Don’t go near this if you have 3GS, newer ipt2G, or any ipt3G] Can confirm that this method works for iPhone 3G and iPod touch 1G too.  Don’t do it for iPhone 3G if you need an unlock though (really, don’t!). For older iPod touch 2G, we’ll need a small (1-character) change in redsn0w source.

Update 3: [Don’t go near this if you have 3GS, newer ipt2G, or any ipt3G] For those with older (non-MC) iPod touch 2G, we’ve compiled a special version of redsn0w meant just for you: Mac and Windows.  You guys can get in on the “3.1.2” loophole too using this special version.  Don’t try this if you have a newer iPod Touch 2G or if you’re not completely sure what version you have.  And of course don’t try it for 3GS or ipt3G either.

That about does it for the 3.1.2 redsn0w loophole.  It can only be used by: those who don’t need the 3G/3GS unlock, and only owners of iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G (not unlockers!), iPod 1G, and iPod 2G older version.  Everyone else please wait for official support in the tools.

hi guys I need further clarification…I am trying to jailbreak a new maxis set 3gs…last time when I do it using blackrain its quite straight forward…just make the phone rain and so on and the phone works like a charm no problem at all…but a newer version iPhone u cant let the battery runs out or switch off the phone rite? if not the iPhone will not boot…we need to make it rain again is it in order to boot the phone? we don’t need to restore it back right? how bout redsnow? does it have any problem like blackrain?

now i wanted to upgrade to 3.1.2 and jb it but itunes doesn't let me even using recovery mode, anyone can help? 3gs here

i doubt he can even move to 3.1.2 because Apple has already stop allowed signing of 3.1.2

i guess you'll have to stick with 3.1 if you wanna jailbreak and pray that your phone does not need to restore.

Guys, i have this issue here now,,,,

My old iPhone 2G was JB before with 3.1.2 and with all my old contacts/Pics etc.
I was handing my phone to my bro and plan to clear all the miscellaneous item inside.

So what i perform are "Reset"
1) Reset All Settings --> OK but infected with iKee "again"
2) Erase all content and settings --> Notok = Phone cant boot up alwiz at "pineapple" mode.

What should i do now...im trying to JB again see whether it helps...Im worry that i break my iPhone.....

Pls advise am i proceeding the correct method.

It's no secret that Apple detests the jailbreaking community. They have claimed that jailbreakers violate their EULA and consequently, break the law. However, this has yet to be proven in court. Jailbreakers have enjoyed a long history of fighting Apple punch for punch. When programmers, such as the iPhone Dev Team, conquer a specific piece of Apple hardware or software, Apple retaliates with a hardware or software update to minimize available exploits, thereby sending developers back to the drawing board. It seems to be an endless game of cat and mouse.

According to a recent report from Redmond Pie, it looks like Apple may be taking a slightly more aggressive approach. If someone jailbreaks, they'll just disable their Apple ID, essentially crippling them from enjoying the pleasures of the App Store. Sherif Hashim, a developer that found a baseband exploit in the latest version of the iPhone OS (3.1.3), recently got a message on his phone stating "This Apple ID has been disabled for security reasons." In addition, iH8sn0w, the hacker behind the PwnageTool alternative, Sn0wbreeze, also had his account disabled.

It doesn't seem like Apple is targeting John Doe jailbreakers. The people mentioned above are pretty heavy hitters. However, that doesn't mean Apple isn't planning to make this a more widespread solution. Perhaps this is just a test phase. Sadly though, this will not stop people from jailbreaking. If anything, it could result in the exact opposite--more illegal app downloading. Should jailbreakers not be allowed to purchase anything from the App Store, it's possible that they'd begin downloading illegal content (stuff they'd otherwise pay for) through various repositories in Cydia, Icy, or wherever. Either way, a punch has been thrown. The jailbreaking community is sure to issue a response.

i dunno is this a correct place to ask...

i m using 3GS with firmware 3.0.1.. when i bought it, i JB with RedSnow and i hv the SHSH thingy in Cydia..

now I would like to upgrade to 3.1.2 but i have a few questions:
a) will all my apps still (installed tru Cydia / App store) inside my phone?
b) all the saved data like notes and saved data in apps will still be there right?
c) how should i upgrade from my current 3.0.1 to 3.1.2? i cant upgrade from Itunes right?

i thought he needs to have the SHSH for 3.1.2 only he can install 3.1.2.

correct me if i'm wrong, but he seems to only have the SHSH for 3.0.1 in Cydia so he will only be able to restore to 3.0.1, hence you will see in Cydia that you will have SHSH file for each firmware version and not one SHSH for all firmwares.

has anyone successfully upgraded a 3G from 3.1.2 to 3.1.3??
im facing a little bit of battery problem with 3.1.2, so wishing that i could see improvement on 3.1.3

i already upgrade to 3.1.2 from my 3.0.1

my device has SHSHs on file for version 3.1 and 3.1.2...

what i did was..
1) download the new 3.1.2 firmware..
2) do the notepad changes as harmeet mentioned
3) then in itunes, click shift + restore.. after the restoration
4) run redSnow 0.92 then choose 3.1.2 also
5) choose iphone manufactured date.. for me.. mine is old iphone.. u can refer  iClarified
6) at the end, choose Cydia only.. and didn't choose already pwned.
7) run and DONE!

after that i restore backup for my data tru itunes.. and my stuffs all come back d..

am i missing out something?
