a digicam is way better than camera in a phone

I agree. The cameras built into the phones may be good and may have more functions than their predecessors, but I still prefer standalone cameras for taking pictures. Though a phone with a camera is very convenient compared to having to take a phone and a camera.

well in the end of the day...

it's CONVIENCE vs FUNCTIONS

carrying one gadget that all the functions u need... vs u have to carry several gadgets to fulfill ur needs... ( 1 handphone, 1 mp3 player , 1 camera n etc )

Not really if you want to play games for crazy long hours on your iPod touch alone and let your iPhone do the phone communication stuff.

The iphone is so much more sense if you are remotely considering a ipod touch - I have a touch, but don't have an iphone because I refuse to pay AT&T's rates. Get an iphone and a screen cover

For me, the iPod touch is the way to go...

In addition to being a game and music player, that gadget is a great work-organizer as well... I use it for virtually ALL work tasks, including appointment scheduling, note taking, and todo listings... Of course other stuff like Internet access, stock tracking, and even eBooks (I have one whole page full of these biggrin.gif) also come into the picture as well!

As for phone, I prefer to stick to a standalone unit (a Sony Ericsson) instead of getting a convergence device like the iPhone... Battery life is one of the major reasons actually... smile.gif

Been using iphone and ipod touch..
Yes the battery life for iphone is such a pain... furthermore with the 3G internet on the go..
But well, you have to win some and loose some to get a better performance right?
As for ipod touch we bought for my son.. and he love it so much and he's only 3...
Finally we found the only way that never makes him bored.. and he have learn a lot of new words from his ipod touch.. wooo hoo...

3 year-old, ain't that a little bit young for an iPod touch? You know, kids don't really know how to take care of their stuff very well tongue.gif

Game = that explains why the battery dries up so fast...

Same here, when I play those games like TTR3 and UNO (which can connect to the Internet for network play), this drains the battery pretty quickly and usually means that I'll have to charge it within a day... It lasts as long as 3 days for normal use, i.e. for appointment scheduling, task management, surfing the Internet, and listening to music, etc...

Actually if you check the spec on9, the iPhone batt can actually last longer, it's jus that bcoz of the constant txting and calling which drains the batt fast that makes ppl thinking that iphone has shorter batt life than iPod touch, but if you don't txt or call frequently, then the batt can last pretty long.

just think of what u will use it for. if for solely playing games n mp3, n u dont want to use it for calling n txting, then go for ipod touch. but dont regret if u want iphone functions in the future.
for me i would say go for iphone. but there is a disadvantage at the price.

It depends on what phone are you using right now.
If you're using a business-type phone like blackberry, Nokia E72, i guess it is better for you to choose iPod Touch as they are completely 2 different things.

In the end you will have entertainment, music on ipod touch,
and quick texting (with qwerty keyboard), email, instant messengers on the business phone.

Furthermore if you sign up for data plan, you can actually turn ur business phone into a wireless access point anytime, and let your ipod touch connect to it. With that way you can actually browse net with your ipod touch anytime. (downside is, it drains your business phone's battery very quickly. And costly if you're not using unlimited data plan)

read through this thread, and searched google, erm...i have some questions.
1) does iPod touch have a microphone built-in? from google, some reviews say yes, some no. plus, there are some external mics for iPods too.

2) if it has, how's the recording quality compared to iphone? (thinking of recording during meetings)

well, the main reasons of me planning to get an ipod is to use some apple applications and recording.Plus wifi web browsing of course, but that ain't my main reason.

they dont have microphone built-in, but they do support it (the current and previous generation). they have two types of earphones.. one is just plain earphone, another has a remote and mic. the 8gb model comes with the plain one, while 32 n 64gb comes with the one with remote n mic.

u can also buy the 8gb, and then get the mic+remote earphone separately

my suggestion for my friends is get ipod touch if u want to have iphone most of the function, perhaps 16GB is enough for u, then buy a gps and a not bad camera phone with another 700 to 900MYR, then u will have the function of iphone..

also if u don wan to have 2 device with u, then u might get iphone? this is my suggestion lar.. haha don know u guys agree or not..

Iphone, wait for the new one, 4G. Ipod touch, i heard there will be a new model?

Up to you actually, if you like touch screen phones then get the iPhone. If you like speed typing, get something else like a Blackberry or Nokia E series.

Music player, if you dont mind having a bulky iPod with you smile.gif Plus, it's almost a phone anyway. Can send tweets, facebook, emails etc
