RM20/RM30/day is abit impossibel nowadays.esp someone mentioned the recent Authorities sanctioned on illegal car rental.

Nvertheless, RM100 for 3d2N is possible as well as Wira or kancil. (3D2N consider 2 days rate for car rental) which is normal.

The RM120 is to the island only & not the floating barge. That will be ~ RM180 or more.

Even at RM120/trip it's abit to pricey for me comparing wth ~ RM30/snorkeling trip to 4-5 locations in Perhentian

Cenang beach is happening beach where lotsa activities, lotsa budget hotels/motels, resataurants, aquarium & etc.

Anyway interm of water quality, it's nothing to shout about as the water quality will not beat Pantai Tengah (Holiday Villa), Pantai Kok, Berjaya resort area, Andaman or even Pantai Rhu.

biggrin.gif Too many people are comparing snorkelling in Langkawi with those in Perhentian and Redang. I think it is not fair as with the two latter venues, you are already on the island where you snorkel. In Langkawi's case you have to take another hour boat trip to another island, Pulau Payar to do it. It is actually quite far off from the main island. SO you cannot compare prices between Langkawi and Perhentian or Redang.

Pulau Payar in Langkawi is a total one day trip, hence the price. I think it will be much cheaper to snorkel in Sipadan, don't you think so? It's free. But first you must get there.

Not really. Going to those islands around Semporna water will not be cheap as well. You be lucky if got quoted RM200/pax. Otherwise as what I did there..hire illegal operators by renting their boat for ~ RM300 to Mabul & kapalai & another day Rm250 to Sibuan & Sakaran Dandai marine park..

Anyway the marine life, the coral garden surrounding Semporna islands are the best in Malaysia but not the floating rubbish by thiose Bajau laut & sulug people haha biggrin.gif

There are a few news regarding predicted floods hitting northern states. Will Langkawi be affected?
Because i've read quite a few news regarding this matter and not once i see Pulau Langkawi. But Langkawi is so near Kedah. And i'm going there 1st-3rd nov, which is when the floods will hit.

smile.gif There's not much flooding in Langkawi except maybe in the villages . Tourist places are not affected much but maybe rain might damper a bit. The last major flood was many years ago when it was full moon and it was high tide, coupled with the rain the whole Kuah town was flooded. Other than that, there's no flood.

Is it better to book hotels on promotion right now or wait till next year to book as my trip will be on June 2011? *yeah it's a school holidays*

How much does a inflated budget Viva cost during that season anyways?

Looks like no one saw this post.
Currently Citin is having a RM108/nite promotion even for next year's school holidays. http://www.citinlangkawi.com/offers.php
Is it advisable to grab this promotion now?

Berjaya Resort in great in term of price and environment there but its located at a remote area, so you need transportation to go anywhere.

If it is the beach that you are going for, Berjaya is OK. Afterall Burau Bay is a better beach than Pantai Cenang or Pantai Tengah. Four Seasons, The Datai and Andaman has better beaches but the price is much much higher not to mention it is also situated far from town. Other than Telaga Tujuh, Cable Car and Telaga Harbour Park (where the Loaf is located) it is also not far from the crocodile farm.

To be frank, you really need a transport to be able to enjoy Langkawi anyway. For 10 pax, a Pregio will do or 2 cars. Bear in mind Langkawi island is much larger than Penang island and places of interest are far apart although not hard to find. Furthermore most good seafood are located in town.
