QUOTE(LiangZhuge @ Dec 15 2010, 10:39 AM) Done some research and to mod a PAL MD to NTSC MD (with region as well), it will need to play around with some switches and soldering points (ala Gamecube). The thing is the PAL MD will now output 60HZ NTSC in only black and white, and the other mod for the NTSC colour looks quite complex with perintang and a crystal quarts thingy. To bypass the colour issue, you can use the MD SCART output (which I don't have and my TV does not support) and use a SCART converter back to RCA (which also I don't have) Yup, you'll need a SCART adapter to RCA for that. I used to think that my stupid old TV was not compatible with game consoles since I can only get "cerita lama" playing on it. I'm not sure whether I still have the SCART adapter around. It's been awhile.Time to hunt for a NTSC JAP or US MD then... |

I haven't actually seen an actual SCART cable or a TV with SCART port before. Where to hunt this elusive cable and the RCA converter.....
Almost all the MD I see output via RF, seen some MD2 output RCA but with mono sound (White and yellow) only |

SCART cable have to get from online. Check out VCR or DVD Recorders, sometimes they have SCART input port at the back, which output to RCA/component.Almost all the MD I see output via RF, seen some MD2 output RCA but with mono sound (White and yellow) only |

QUOTE(LiangZhuge @ Dec 20 2010, 11:10 PM) OMG, Sonic Game Gear! The 1st time I saw it, I couldn't believe it can play as well as it does on the go. My only previous exposure to Gameboy was the game "Probotector". So seeing a portable system with colour screen was mind boggling! Some games, like Bare Knuckles suffered in the port, but still played great. Do you have the power adapter for GG, or are you running on batteries only? |

I tried to put my MD2 adapter but it seems the head is much bigger (cannot fit). It's Sonic 2 by the way. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic_the_Hed...g_2_%288-bit%29 I have 2 more Game Gear cartridge (last bible (JAP) and a mahjong game (JAP)) Isn't Probotector = Contra for the PAL UK market? They swap the Contra sprite to robots. Yeah, "Probotector". Probotector is what Konami hawked to the PAL market, replacing all the enemies with robots. At least the gameplay is unmistakably Contra. I'll never know why even the name was changed. Back then it was weird seeing these kinds of censorship. Like Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles for example. Or the cover for Ninja Gaiden where Ryu Hayabusa's dragon sword is replaced with a nunchuk.
