is there any big different if we compare 520 with 820.Is there is so much advantage on 820.maybe i will go to the shop for trade in my system to 820.
*

the main reasons i buy 820 is bcos MCACC calibration and support USB pendrive
other than that should be the same...

I hooked up the 520 to 2 front floor standing speaker that have 2 8" bass driver, the rest is the infinity set....so now I have 2 spares satellite.......and I rarely switch on the sub.....enough deep bass generated from the floor standing spkr

todoroki front speaker?

actually i tested HTP-RS33 (520 + todoroki) and HTP-820SW (820 + SES3TB) at harvey norman at same volume but without subwoofer... todoroki more on bass but SES3TB more on treble...

I prefer VSX-820K with TSS500(Infinity)

HTP-TSS51 = VSX-520K + TSS500

HTP-820SW = VSX-820K + SES3TB

emmmmmm..

hehe....its temporary...until I find the speaker stand for the infinity sat.

As per now....the sound quality is acceptable...deep & solid bass, with a good blend of mid-range & tweeter.....lauditioned the Audioslave's track for me is much better with the cap ayam speaker than the total infinity system, seems like it lacks the richness of how music should sound....in my personal opinion la cool.gif Not sure if there are many grades of the audio phonar speaker, but mine definitely not the glossy cheapo that u can find in the electrical shop la.

Btw....anybody know where I can repair / re-coil bass speaker?

the same with me..prefer VSX-820K with TSS500...coz of I like the sound clarity and having small area to set up all this.
but I might end up buying the HTP-820SW due to I'm unable to find TSS500 speaker set only(without the VSX-520K avr)

WTA Some minor problem with AMP/Speaker connection.

I have a Pioneer VSX-919AH-K running 5 Onkyo speaker and an Infinity SSW-10 sub.

I have another older set of 5.1 Sony Speaker system (the one that came with a DVD head unit)

1. Can i hook up 2 of the sony speaker which are rated at 3 ohm as my front L/R then moving the 2 Front Onkyo to the Back (I have read somewhere that the AMP only supports 4 - 8 ohm speakers.)

2. Everytime i start my HTPC i need to turn off the AMP and LCD TV and restart (changing from other sources to htpc the sound and pic signal doesnt detect) My amp is hooked up with Astro Beyond, Blu-ray player, is there anyway i can aviod that? (Seq to start up, Start HTPC until Win loads, Switch off AMP and TV, Start AMP then Turn on LCD TV and Turn to HDMI channel)

3. AMP is showing DTS/DD but iam hearing dialogues from the left and right channel (playing from HTPC file) but normal Blu-ray/DVD from player plays fine (all the sound in the correct channel), Source from HTPC using DVD also same result (Dialogue form all 3 front channel). Could it be HDMI problem or Sound setting? (changed HDMI cable but problem remain).

3. MY sub uses L/R RCA input, is it better to use a 2 TO 1 RCA or only use the White RCA input (1 To 1).

Hope my problems are not to complicated cry.gif

Thanks in advance for the icon_question.gif

From what I've read in the manual for pioneer amp (this is for ICE...should also apply to the home theater set), you should not mix different ohm rating speaker at one time....if your speaker is 4 ohm, then make sure al the other speaker are rated the same.....

i'm also having a bit of problem with the HTPC connected to my VSX1019

everytime i switched the tv off, the AVR will switch off automatically.

when i switched the TV back on, then the AVR, the AVR will keep (automatically) switching its selection source to "TV/SAT" instead of HTPC (assigned to HDMI 2). i have to manually select HDMI source few times (2-3 times). but after 1 minute or so after turning the TV on, then its normal again.

why such behavior? i also connect Astro, BD Player, CD Player & Media Player to this AVR.

for anyone useing 520/820 and paird with 3 way speaker (with 16cm cone),
will you set the front speaker at "speaker settings" to large? bcos i felt a bass a bit heavy and no longer need subwoofer...
unless i set subwoofer to "plus", the bass level from front speaker and subwoofer definitely deep... sweat.gif
