If you're planning to conceal inside a wall then get a certified high speed HDMI cable. This is to ensure your cable is future-proof as long as possible. Also get one with good build quality.

Because once concealed in wall, the hope is you don't have to change it.

10m monoprice hdmi cable from USA is reasonable priced

I have seen someone selling no-brand long cable in lowyat.net garage sales, I heard cable is working pretty well

After a long read in 36 pages.

My conclusion (base on all written):
  • Cheap or branded expensive HDMI not means bad to great in quality.
  • No noticeable / no different in terms on quality as long as it is well build.
  • Branded good build quality HDMI do help if your cable is 10M or longer.
  • Certification is one of proof but not means uncertified is badly build.
Anyway I am going to test out tonight by comparing my FREE (from my Samsung BD-C5500 player) and a cheap RM 30 (but look good / solid build in quality purchase from computer shop last time) to see got different or not tongue.gif

Added on November 8, 2010, 9:33 amOk, here what I experience. (Just my experience, not offence to any)

Comparing on FREE HDMI (not sure what version, no label to check) and unbranded good quality cable which is printed HDMI v1.3 on cable:
  • I on the subtitle on Avatar and notice they is slightly (just slightly) white outline in yellow wording when using FREE HDMI (No issue on HDMI v1.3 cable).
  • To confirm this, I try another movie which had a red background with white text warning message as I always seen slightly shadow effect on right side of the wording, no such issue on my purchase HDMI v1.3 cable.
To confirm I seen repeatedly & blindly test it 3 times in same scenes.

** In my opinion, good quality HDMI cable do slightly affect the video quality but no much differences notice on it clarity, just a slightly better render in overall.

** Anyway, I don't think it is worth to get such Monster cable as I see no point on getting it in such over price cable.

** If you need great output, just source a better unbranded HDMI cable will do, better keep that extra money for others thing.

i won't pay RM200-300 for a branded HDMI cable, the slight difference doesn't worth that kind of money.

Hard core Hi Fi person are known to pay 10 times or 20 times or even 30 times that number for a interconnect to connect his CD player and amplifier. So it's all beauty in the eyes or ears of the beholder

All I can say is, they do sounded different. As to whether it is better or worst, it's up to individual to decide.

And before someone think these people are stupid, then let me give this food for thought. If these 'so called stupid person' can afford to pay RM10K for a piece of wire, don't you think they must be smarter than most people in able to earn more money than the average person? So is the average person "more stupid than those so-called-stupid-person"?
