Thanks for the input boxcar-ST smile.gif That's really helpful of you happy.gif

In addition to what he shared with you, you can also just use the recovery menu to make the partitions under the SDcard option. However, its always important to know the basics of how things are done. So I recommend you follow what boxcar-ST asked you to do smile.gif Cheers~

I was wondering why my phone internal memory after rooting is around 97 to 99MB. i have already partition my SDcard to ext3. Should the internal memory be higher?

Internal memory is the non-volatile memory in your Hero, not your sdcard.

Hi friends,

I have been having problems with google maps so i decided to uninstall and reinstall it but to my surprise, the google official website do not have ways to install Google Maps on a Android platform. Anyone has the .apx file?

found solution.

I dun quite get you.

It says on my phone under "internal phone storage" available space 95MB. i tried installing abt 10 apps the space keep going down but when i delete the apps the space does not increase. after rooting shouldnt the space remain the same cos the apps are installed to the SDcard?

U need to know the difference between "memory" and "storage". They are not the same.

Anyone tried this yet ??

Ive tried it, but yet to see any result...

disabled compcache and inserting this memory tweak... hoping to see my hero fly!!!

quoted from modaco site..

QUOTE

Wrote the code in to the file:
/system/init.d/teknologist.sh

And using the following code:
echo "1536,3072,4096,21000,23000,25000" > /sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters/minfree

Procedure:
- Copied the teknologist.sh from /system/init.d/ to the sdcard with "root explorer"
- Edit teknologist.sh with "text edit"
- Copied the teknologist.sh from the sdcard to /system/init.d/ with "root explorer"

I can confirm that not only does the phone feel more responsive,
I also feel that the battery usage has gone down too.

As a result I have uninstalled my taskkiller app and just left Android manage it on it's own.

Sidenote:
The compcache has been disabled and I have been using the phone without app2sd,
this is because I don't have so many apps and a slow sd card.

My hero went from slow (stock rom) to flying (mcr3.2beta5 rom with memory trick)

Its not really inactive..It will come to live soon when 2.1 is updated here. Still waiting for the official Hero 2.1 release first until they come out with the custom ROM smile.gif

Root is to gain super user access. Some applications need to execute certain commands that non-root phone could not execute.

This guide of mine is for HTC Hero. The one you posted the link of is for the Nexus One smile.gif
