Hello Megalodon Users,
I'm thinking of adding Razer Megalodon in my gaming rig. The problem is I have heard NUMEROUS TO COUNTLESS complaints about the headset. Sound cut off ~~ Mic cut off~~. This mostly happens to OS 64bits. And the worst thing is I'm using Windows Ultimate 64bits too. I know the firmware update is available to encounter these problem but some headsets are still not getting fixed. Some even got worse after updating the firmware complaining about the static noise. Too much complaints in google that I need assurances.
1. Any of you guyz are having these problems? If no, pls also state what OS are you operating in. (Well, of course I hope there isn't any as I like Megalodon very much)
2. Razer Megalodon uses USB port to function. That said, I don need a proper sound card?? Just plug in the headset and you can have 7.1 surround sound? Bose Companion 5 marketing gimmick states that you don't need a high-end sound card to experience the surround sound of the speaker so I assume Megalodon doesn't need as well?
Ohai thar chickybun... A very happy Megalodon user here. Using it on Win XP SP3, and Win 7 Ultimate final, both 32 bits, and XP 64 bits. So far i've yet to encounter the said problems, though there are windows updates that fixes it (read it from the Razer website.)I'm thinking of adding Razer Megalodon in my gaming rig. And yes, you don't have to use another sound card, since the Megalodon has the APU (Audio Processing Unit) that works great in 2.0 stereo and 7.1 surround. The surround only works when your source is 7.1/5.1 surround in the 1st place.
Btw, the Razer Imperator looks awesome!
