* To promote prudent spending, a service charge of RM50 a year to be imposed on each principal credit card and charge card; and RM25 a year on each supplementary card, effective from Jan 1, 2010.

i don think that is the case...only the highest bracket get that....

the rest the same....see for yourself the statement
Top marginal tax rate for individuals, not all margin range...
*
then it is not fair... reduce 1% just for those high income while maintain for those who are even need it?
so is this co called high income economy?

no more credit card. such a sad case

by using credit card doesn't mean that we simply spend

in fact, smart consumer can use credit card and get privilege from it

unwise act

How does it work. To encourage prudent spending... You levy a RM50 Charge. Would not a limit on how many cards on maximum credit limit on all cards be better than charging a service tax. Pardon me, but what service is being provided?
Thought Govt. is promoting more cashless transactions. This seems contradictory and discouraging private spending...
Boy will the banks be filled with credit card cancellations.
So much for the average joe... haih....

All,

There is a saying,

"Shuffling deck chairs in a Titanic!!!" It does not matter how you arrange the deck chairs, the Titanic will still sunk.

Out of 200 billions in government budget, 150 billions aka 75% is in maintaining the government. Only 25% aka around 50 billions is in development. We have around 1.2 millions civil servants. And, they are the LARGE VOTING BLOCK that keep this government in power. So, they will get their pay raise and the cost of maintaining the government will go UP. Meanwhile, OIL MONEY is going down because

A) We are getting more OIL oversea as opposed in Malaysia = profit margin lower

B) Domestic oil consumption is going up.

So,

1) Expenditure aka cost of maintaining government is going UP

2) OIL MONEY is going down or not keeping pace with expenditure increase

In summary, YOU will be paying more taxes one way or the other. Then, the WHOLE THING become unsustainable and we will have a collapse.

24% of Malaysia's GDP is tied up with the government. What makes you think that it is SUSTAINABLE??

So, if you are WISE, prepare for a VERY COLD WINTER in Malaysia.

Tax is an expense for living in a civilize society.
The government had paid for schools, build roads, heavily subsidize hospital bill, etc.
That is the benefit you are talking about.

Pro BN supporter. Anyway, we paid road tax dont we? We even pay tolls. So road is out of the equation. The lousy school is nothing to shout about. I never been to a government hospital. I think I'll be dead before they even attend me. Besides, how many new hospital have we really seen? Its laughable.

All,

What happen if LARGE NUMBER of government and GLC employees are laid off?? You cam figure this out.

It has happened before. Philippine was the RICHEST COUNTRY in South East Asia during Vietnam war (1960 to 1975). USA spent 1 billion per day on that war and Philippine received substantial of that windfall. But the money was wasted due to corruption. So, now, Filipinos has to go oversea to work as maid and etc to survive.

No matter who is in power, the government is my partner.
And their tax law is written in my favor.
That is how I look at it.

Government needing more money is a sign of mismanagement.

cold winter????

sure bo.....

chaos and collapse i believe la... tongue.gif

but wat can do le....generally malaysian are not think far enof....

otherwise we wont hav a lot CC who is in debt...and give the gov excuse to charge tax now...

The scenario is not hard to imagine.....

today oil supporting our national income of 40++ %
jz think of it as a way u found a water source in ur house, and u sell it to others, without working hard urself, like may b tanam fruits to sell, or deliver service...etc
wats more is u keep on spending money more, as if, without the oil/water...spending is more than ur income...

if u r not ready...the day when the water suddenly goes low in supply, it cant sustain ur expenses liao....
unless u can prepare urself earlier, else...u wont able to sustain in time by ur own...and force to lend from others....

this is the time when it is like our fellow Malaysian who always owe bank CC debt and use balance transfer to skip n skip n skip...
if u still not try to overcome it...soon...ur creditibility will drop...and no one will borrow money to u to sustain....

tat sounds like US, but unlike US, they hav a "precious" US dollar to help them sustain for so long....who u think will bother about Ringgit...
end up...probably we will hit wit an economy which we kena tax kao kao....or hyperinflation....
tat time no chaos....???? unless Malaysia found a oil well as big as Saudi la....else no hope to recover dy...

@dinozilla,
As much as I agree there are quite a few people in debt due to CC, as a whole our nation is doing much better than a lot of other developed nation.

The G doesn't need excuses or reasons to tax us; if they wanna tax us they'll tax us and just come up with some form of explanation; whether or not we accept it.

I don't know what our police force is gonna do with the 1b provided to them; is it really going to curb corruption?

don think so....may b buy more Evo10
they seems enjoying it....
or Subaru this time....

jz like public service, both of them are too huge now....in population...

i wont deny there is good deed in there, but bad shape folks r outnumbering them...

and those...are a waste of tax money, or national income....

all in all....tongkat education trained tongkat graduates....

tongkat graduates cant go elsewhere, absorb by gov....

after absorb...no choice...hav to cover the cost...so now operation expenses go up

sadden part is when u sumore see the Cuepacs(gov employee union) ppl complaining....

i mean...com'on...u think ur pay too low is it, and add on lagi with the benefits(claims, allowances, low interest loan, pension, etc)
it is not jz huge, but becoming a national burden if we keep on absorbing useless ppl into them.
