"Offer a netbook package, including free broadband service, to university students for RM50 per month for 2 years"

I wonder what broadband they provide?
*
should be the basic...sufficient for online info looking is enof...probably the 384kbps plan...
jz wonder majority Undergrad is now on 3years programme, if not 4
this offer to undergrad is valid for 1st year, or from poor...
what will happen when they reach 3rd or 4th year?

regarding CC thing....
i doubt it would works....
who knows....bank actually will absorb it based on what group of user u are...
like how they waive the annual fee for u....
its a hard economy still...."moving good" is what says by the official, not realistic at all...
bank is realistic...obviously wont want a policy which can stir their client away to impact them....
they will find a way...to waive or absorb it....

frankly oso...this onli make those who already on smart/budget-conscious user mad (what?! i paid on time stil wanna tax me this)
those who have a huge debt on their card and always never clear off the debt 1 is the one they need to after....and for this group of ppl...adding RM50 to their total debt per year probably jz a small amount... LOL

as for the RM50 tax on credit cards, it's not something new.. it was introduced in 1997 and later removed in 2001.. so now in 2010, it's re-implemented.
I don't believe the bank will absorb RM50 for the customer simply because there are round about 11mil cc holders in 2009. If all the banks were to absorb, RM50 x 11mil.
You do the math!
Secondly, I believe the government will not allow banks to absorbs as that would actually go against the whole idea of promoting prudent spending.
*
u see..tats the thing...

promote prudent spending....

how u measure or justify tat....

number of credit cards????

wat if we put such scenario: a person, with 3-4 CC, but paid up all bills every month; another one, one, or may b two CC, but owing debt of 10k+ in those cards.
so, promote prudent spending by charging tax on number of card????

a tax on card don help, those who already prudent spending will remain so, and those who don, will still never, regardless how many card there

lame excuse to say this is to promote that....

QUOTE(! Love Money @ Oct 24 2009, 01:16 AM)
better for us hopefully...
so if each bracket is lowered by 1% people will only enjoy the slight differences but urge to pay more for the GST... this is sick
*
i don think that is the case...only the highest bracket get that....

the rest the same....see for yourself the statement
QUOTE
Given the amount of stress that the Government has been facing due to the economic crisis, it is heartening to note that it has still allowed for a 1% reduction of the top marginal tax rate for individuals from 27% to 26%,’’ said one tax expert.

Top marginal tax rate for individuals, not all margin range...

if u really wanna see reduction, go Iskandar work next year then....they probably re-adjust for there, max is 15%

read from oriental jz now...
the impression i got from there is...
not jz the service tax on credit card is impose...
but there wont be annual fee waiver permitted as well...
anyone can clarify....?

regarding petrol subsidy, i think they will categorize and pull data from ur MyKad, which eventually, some get subsidy, some don, some kena fuel tax

all in all, he claims it is beneficial to all
i ll say, beneficial to lower income group and the riches, but not the middle income range...instead might be ripping the middle one to feed the rich and poor

"Employees' EPF contribution to be increased to 11% again, on a voluntary basis, effective immediately. However, from Jan 1, 2011 employees' EPF contribution will revert to 11%"

When this increase to 11% the employers also will fork out more money for our EPF contribution issit?
*
dude....it was adjust from 11% to 8% previously lah...duh....
the employee part only....when the economy not so "good shape" and the "kind" gov say to let ppl hav more cash flow...
it was suppose to return back to 11% sometime later(2years)
so this is jz following the plan....

u expect employer to increase oso ah....??? (make it in ur dream)

we r more worry now they will lower it to woo and try to retain investor....
don forget the FDI is dropped 80++ %

QUOTE(dreamer101 @ Oct 24 2009, 10:08 PM)

So, if you are WISE, prepare for a VERY COLD WINTER in Malaysia.

Dreamer
*
cold winter????

sure bo.....

chaos and collapse i believe la... tongue.gif

but wat can do le....generally malaysian are not think far enof....

otherwise we wont hav a lot CC who is in debt...and give the gov excuse to charge tax now...

The scenario is not hard to imagine.....

today oil supporting our national income of 40++ %
jz think of it as a way u found a water source in ur house, and u sell it to others, without working hard urself, like may b tanam fruits to sell, or deliver service...etc
wats more is u keep on spending money more, as if, without the oil/water...spending is more than ur income...

if u r not ready...the day when the water suddenly goes low in supply, it cant sustain ur expenses liao....
unless u can prepare urself earlier, else...u wont able to sustain in time by ur own...and force to lend from others....

this is the time when it is like our fellow Malaysian who always owe bank CC debt and use balance transfer to skip n skip n skip...
if u still not try to overcome it...soon...ur creditibility will drop...and no one will borrow money to u to sustain....

tat sounds like US, but unlike US, they hav a "precious" US dollar to help them sustain for so long....who u think will bother about Ringgit...
end up...probably we will hit wit an economy which we kena tax kao kao....or hyperinflation....
tat time no chaos....???? unless Malaysia found a oil well as big as Saudi la....else no hope to recover dy...

@dinozilla,
As much as I agree there are quite a few people in debt due to CC, as a whole our nation is doing much better than a lot of other developed nation.

The G doesn't need excuses or reasons to tax us; if they wanna tax us they'll tax us and just come up with some form of explanation; whether or not we accept it.

I don't know what our police force is gonna do with the 1b provided to them; is it really going to curb corruption?
*
don think so....may b buy more Evo10
they seems enjoying it....
or Subaru this time....

jz like public service, both of them are too huge now....in population...

i wont deny there is good deed in there, but bad shape folks r outnumbering them...

and those...are a waste of tax money, or national income....

all in all....tongkat education trained tongkat graduates....

tongkat graduates cant go elsewhere, absorb by gov....

after absorb...no choice...hav to cover the cost...so now operation expenses go up

sadden part is when u sumore see the Cuepacs(gov employee union) ppl complaining....

i mean...com'on...u think ur pay too low is it, and add on lagi with the benefits(claims, allowances, low interest loan, pension, etc)
it is not jz huge, but becoming a national burden if we keep on absorbing useless ppl into them.
