actually its good to enforce all old cars for inspection for safety reason as u can see some old cars, perhaps more than 30 years old still driving on the road but they r not the well maintained antique car, they are "moving scrap metal"...

Only in theory actually.. most people probably won't give a damn and continue driving without rt. Given the record for lack of enforcement from JPJ, a rule like this is only gonna make the situation worse in the long run.

Oh well, lets see what the "new" gomen's policy will be after next general election smile.gif

QUOTE(Sitting Duck @ Oct 23 2009, 07:55 PM)
* To promote prudent spending, a service charge of RM50 a year to be imposed on each principal credit card and charge card; and RM25 a year on each supplementary card, effective from Jan 1, 2010.

-> Need to start canceling all my idle credit cards.. consolidate all my auto bill payment to one card.
-> in short, no more free credit card anymore. minimum service charge of RM50 applies to all cards, including no annual fee credit card.
-> poor credit card salesman will have hard time getting new people to sign up for credit cards.. sad.gif
* To ensure that fuel subsidies only benefit targeted groups, Govt will implement a fuel subsidy management system in early 2010, which will utilise the MyKad.

--> this sounds bad.. sad.gif
Well, I don't see any thing much that benefit the low to middle income group. sad.gif
*
the credit card is just aim to suck income from the banks or probably the consumer, the government never intended to "promote" prudent spending i guess. it will hurt the industry unless the bank choose to absorb the fees being imposed, it will inevitably hurt the industry to the core.

Regarding the issue of petrol subsidy for one group only, this sounds bad as to how the government laid the guidelines as to who will get benefit from the subsidy...that is bad... sweat.gif if they choose to do it by income group, if they set it too low....then no point giving it as those people had consume low fuel, usually by motorbikes or small cars.

Yes, i agree with you, that no much benefit for the low to middle income normal citizens.

Annual mandatory roadworthiness inspections will be required for vehicles more than 15 yrs. More kopi-o opportunities for JPJ or their agent. Road tax renewal will only be allowed if the vehicles are proved to be road worthy. Might be a computerised system similar to car insurance.

This policy is similar as the one in New Zealand where all type of cars are required to be certified to be road worthy before registration can be renewed.

In New Zealand or UK, they provide a scrapping compensation scheme or discount in buying new car, so overall they are maintaining or even lowering the total cost of car ownership in the long run.
Here all government give is if you trade in for a proton (and that's ending by end of this year). And everything protect proton. Can't tell you how much I hate proton.

imho, i think this 2009 budget they are asking us to save money so when they increase the toll, water, electrik etc. food & services also increase caused inflaysion.
so when we stop spending, those ppl who increase their stuff have to decrease their stuff.

The bank should do some promotion or come out with a good hell of a plan to attract more customers.
For example, They can absorb the RM 50 thingy on Principal card and RM 25 on supplementary card if only we spend how much per year or how much per month. People like "free stuff".

Fully agreed with you, for the new card, do not give the free stuff, give RM50 waiver of service charge which will be imposed by the govt soon....

I would think the probability of banks absorbing the Rm50 service tax is high. Bare in mind the Rm50 tax is not something new, it had been there before 2001, but banks do absorb it back then. So it could be the same this time as well. But most people never complain back then, nor knowing its existence.

isn't that the GOV doesn't allow bank to absorb RM50 service charge?

If not mistaken, gov didn't state bank cannot pay behalf on their customers.

After all, even it is mandatory to charge Rm50 on the CC statement, banks can do through rebate of Rm50 yearly as 'loyal rewards', Rm50 worth of CC points or Rm50 voucher etc method, which in the end of the day, customer lose nothing.

Is it true that there's a RM1,000 tax relief for Contribution to an Annuity fund on top of the RM6,000 tax relief for EPF contribution? Is the RM1k contribution valid to any insurance companies?
