3. New/Used/Unreg : new
4. Specs : Full Spec
5. Transmission : auto
6. NA or FI :  whatever

I might not want to consider the KIA if u looking for lots of spare parts, although the KIA forte is the best buy on that budget range. Safest bet if u looking for good aftersales (good service n parts) will goes to honda city n toyota vios.

hello, car sifu.

i am eyeing 2nd Proton Satria Neo MT.
I am student.

its suitable for me?
how abt monthly payment?
lets say I pay under RM400.
*
A used satria neo manual from 2006 will cost u approx 30-35k, and say if u took 30k loan and repayment of 7 years then u need to pay 450++ per month. Plan ur loan figures at this page http://autoworld.com.my/v2/tools/loan_payment.asp

hi all,

planning to get the alza premium spec auto 64k. Some ppl comment that local car not durable. They say better get the nissan grand livina. My budget is around 70k. I don't mind get a secondhand grand livina. Please advise.
*
Who ever says local cars are not durable esp perodua are utterly nonsense. A used grand livina 1.6 will cost u above 75k++ hence for that amount of money, save it and get the alza. Its a new car and u will entitled 3 or 5 years of manufacturer warranty.

Test drive it and see it for yourself, for me, the alza is a good buy. smile.gif

Is the SE 06 a worthy 2nd hand car?

Its okay to get the wira SE but avoid the auto with 3 gears one. Go for the manual.

This is funny, u only putting 10k as budget, u dont want a problematic car and u even say urself better get a new car. What do u want honestly? doh.gif Honestly u hardly find any used pre 2003 locally made car less than 10k. Maybe u can go for a used kancil or kelisa but pls up ur budget to 20k and its posssible.

With that salary, honestly get a used kelisa or kancil. New car is seriously not recommended. Or best avoid getting a car for the time being until u earn till 1.8k.

4. Remarks.

please any comments? 2nd hand 2005 swift is a good buy or rather a brand new myvi? looking for a car that can last at least 10 years..

or any other recommendations?
*
Man i will pick the swift as the swift is anytime better than the myvi. U looking for a long term car so both these cars will do fine although myvi parts availability is much better.

How about proton savvy? Btw, is it all savvy is AMT gearbox? I've heard about positive feedback on savvy FC and sturdiness. I dont really think it is real ugly anyway.
*
Savvy comes in both manual or AMT. Savvy FC is one of the best of its class but if possible, get the manual. The AMT is kinda odd here so i might worry u get into trouble if there any problems on the AMT.

Sports car for u? U can go for the honda integra DC5 or an unregistered toyota celica around that 150k and below range. If u looking for saloon, the honda civic 2.0 is good enough, sporty and fun to drive.

QUOTE(ben3003 @ Dec 27 2009, 10:36 PM)
I've heard about AMT scary problem becos if the transmission system broke down, it needs 15k to repair after warranty.... Is there any other problem for savvy(MT)? What would you recommend if compare a kelisa and a savvy? Both MT la, becos the 2nd hand price is both the same. Or a viva 850 manual? Quite a few choices around the price of 20k-25k for a 2nd hand, was hoping to get a 2nd hand car that can let me drive for another 9 or 10years probably.
*
I would rather go for the kelisa if i wanna play safe and know eventually i will sell that car for an upgrade, as sorry to say the savvy resale value is going to be poorer than the kelisa.

QUOTE(xiaow3n1 @ Dec 27 2009, 11:08 PM)
ohh ..thanks  ...any suggestion for used sedan car? what i heard is used car interest higher den a new car ..izzit true ?
*
I would say used car interest is slightly higher than new car, but honestly, forget it to get a car seeing i not sure if u pick 1/3 of ur net salary for loan ur options are quite limited.

QUOTE(jenm_iek @ Dec 28 2009, 11:03 AM)
yup.. the car owner is a mother that used to fetch children..
i ask the mechanic.. they say.. if kelisa spare part is RM80, the atos 1 will slightli higher around RM80+RM15, wont not much major difference..
n atos spare part is more reliable than kelisa spare part..
car seller also mention to me that driving a atos is more steady than kelisa
that is wat they say.. but i dunno..
still waitin for the owner to sell it.. they let go atos coz wanna bigger car.. children grow up d..
ehm.. but i like kelisa more than atos.
*
If u like the kelisa, then go for ur option then. I pretty much assured the atos resale value gonna be poorer than the kelisa, esp if u see u gonna use ur next car for few years then will eventually sell to get a better car.

QUOTE(D_Predator @ Dec 28 2009, 11:38 AM)
hi guys,my fren is planning to sell of his mitsu galant vrg 2.0 to me..selling at rm6k..the car was based in singapore..ownership is like u're using a singaporean superbike..and it's legal..car age is around 9 years.tip top condition.he didn't modify the car or whatsoever..reason he's selling it coz he wants to fund he's new gsr engine which he put in his gen2..appreciate ur feedback guys!
*
I not familiar with this cars based in sgpore/overseas, can anyone advise here?

However its an old mitsubishi and u may only get parts from chop shops which u know by 2011 u wont get used parts from overseas. Mitsubishi Mysia did not bring this model so dont expect any parts from them. If u want a reliable and economical to maintain, this isnt the good option.

Guys, I'm planning to buy a second car. what do you think about Nissan Sunny? Most of the price for Nissan Sunny is RM5000.

Can easily get spare part etc.? How about JPJ approval? Other alternative than Nissan Sunny?
*
I think its a good buy for a used sunny, and there no worry for spare parts as it can be sourced locally. Just dont think of obtaining a loan from bank but since its dirt cheap, why not?

Look for good units and once u got it, let ur mechanic to check to see if there anything need to be changed.

QUOTE(D_Predator @ Dec 28 2009, 01:57 PM)
hey,thanks..but juz wanna confirm with u, is the spare part policy thing will be implemented in 2011?is it confirm?i tot they cancel it out already? sweat.gif
*
The 15 year old car inspection was scrapped but not for the used foreign parts. wink.gif

QUOTE(ben3003 @ Dec 28 2009, 02:52 PM)
I gonna loan the used car, so i will be sticking with 1 car probably until i can afford bigger car or the car is over the installment period. I am not really fond with kelisa big head light >< I just wanna ask, is savvy MT maintenance high? Becos i would probably fork out 300-400 per month for a used car, i think a used myvi, saga blm, savvy kelisa, viva is in my range. BUt then, i dont know which would suit me. My hometown i have a myvi auto and the fuel consumption is not really satisfying, if auto and manual doesnt have much difference in FC, i would go for auto becos of city driving. Sorry i am a newbie in car, especially buying car to drive in KL or west msia,  my hometown is at sarawak, where traffic congestion is minimal.
*
I bet the savvy manual is cheap to maintain but consult the savvy thread here to check for the maintenance cost. I would say put resale value as a consideration since u saying u will upgrade for a better car once u can afford it.

3. New/Used/Unreg : New ( since is my 1st car )
4. Specs :dunno which one better
5. Transmission : auto
6. NA or FI :  - (dont know what is this)
7. Type : 4 seater.
8. Remarks : salary 2.4k nett

btw how to know how much downpayment that i need?
dunno anything about car. (T_T)
juz know how to driving it only
*
U need minimum downpayment of 10% of the car price. Ie for a new myvi which cost 50k, u need approx downpayment of 5k for that.

For ur case, i would advice go for a 50k car like the myvi. Dont ever think of the vios with ur pay range. Put somemore downpayment n take max 7 years of loan. Then u should be fine.

Hmm u going to buy a car in australia? Well from ur choices the honda jazz will be a better choice as it is economical and reliable. But honda cars in australia is consider as expensive still.

Why not go for the aussie's fav hyundai? I believe the i30 is a best seller here so its a good option to go for that.

Since it's 20+ year old car. What are the things to look out for? How about insurance?

I think it quiet lot of fun driving a 20+ year old car after replacing all wears and tear parts. And a lil bit mod here and there. new painting job and beautify the interior etc.

From wreck to rich.

Donno whether Sunny's engine is still good nowadays but what made you think Sunny is a good buy?

thanks for your opinion smile.gif
*
I think its a good buy for those looking for a banger wheels. Just check for body condition (i bet its gonna be rusty), the interior, the meters and indicators and the engine and check for oil leaks.

Be prepare to fork some good amount of money after u purchase to replace wear n tear parts it so u will have a more reliable ride.

Actually both of these cars are fine, just that ensure both are serviced regularly by toyota and car body is okay so to know that car did not involved in any accidents.

I would choose the 1st option but seems 59k for 2005 is still abit too high. Nego it lower to 57k perhaps.

I would like the persona more as it is better to drive and with 5 yr new manufacturer warranty. However dont expect it has good FC as the vios but still, all depends on u. If u like modding car, the vios is a better option.

Hey that a good price. A few months back i took the trouble to hunt for a used 1.8 civic.

Here what u need to consider:

1. Check the car body to see if there any damage
2. Check for service record (very important), and if there none, dont buy it
3. Check for interior. Start the car and see if all indicators n signals are in working condition.
4. Check the engine for oil leaks
5. test drive it and check if throttle and brakes are in working condition.

If you have to rank all the car, what would the ranking be.

1. Civic
2. Lancer GT
3. Camry
4. Accord
5. Slyphy

I know this group of car might be in a different league. But this is the car we are considering now.

Hmm FC wise n maintainence cost comparing vios n SX4 the vios will have advantage here but it seems most car mag reviewers prefer the SX4 over the vios. I think based on ur criterias, the vios is a better bet.

Here my ranking according to criterias. I assuming the camry, civic n accord were based on the 2.0cc model.

Fuel Consumption, cost and maintainence

4. Civic
5. Lancer GT

Fun driving, handling, performance
1. Civic

I test drove the Camry 2.4, and I would like to say that the pick up is really disappointing. Maybe due to the heavy weight of the car. No doubt that Accord is more fun to be drove due to the F1-style shifting paddle. Civic is abundantly found on road. Really headache. Aiks!

If I would ask you to choose 2 out of those, which one would you pick?

Regards,
J.Y
*
I'm a performance freak so i will pick the civic 2.0. But if i looking for economical, comfort and smooth driving, i will definery consider the slyphy. I might be wrong on why i put the slyphy on last.

Test drive the slyphy and u make the call. smile.gif

Hello,

I brought sx4 sedan about half year oledi.Well i can say this car are perfect to drive and if in FC side City + highway 50-50 is about 12.5Km-13.5km.

If pure in highway u can reach 15.8km-16.8km.

Well this car max is 50 Litre i always pump about 75+ Full tank about 45 Litre+ it would about 550km for city and highway. This car i can say pick up it is abit dumb but then once go smooth u can feel the power in the end.

In service quite pricey abit ba. Everytime i service roughly about Rm300.00 for 10k service.

Thanks for ur valueable feedback. smile.gif

one question here, the japan malaysia FTA said in 2010 tariff will be remove for passenger car above 2000cc, is this still going to happen?

Japan Luxury car will destroy German luxury car brand if this is true.

I honestly not sure about this. But i doubt the gov will allow prices of cars to dropped here. wink.gif

1. Brand - Saga BLM M-Line, Viva Elite EZ, Viva Elite EZI , Myvi EZ, Myvi EZI
2. Budget - 40k+- (salary 12xx-18xx)
3. New/Used/Unreg - New
4. Specs - -
5. Transmission - Automatic
6. NA or FI - -
7. Type - -
8. Remarks - main purpose is for go to work (about 10km from my house)
                  - 50% driving alone, 45% driving with 1 passenger, 5% driving with 2 passenger
                  - 95% driving in city, 5% highway (for holiday, like travel to genting, cameron, Langkawi etc)
                  - long term use, won't change it in couple of years
                  - downpayment 10%, properly will make 7-9 years loan

a) which one is more reliable? I mean like won't spoil easily.

b) since the price is almost the same, so i'm more concern about the FC and maintainance among these cars, is there a big difference? If can please state out the figure for me to compare. notworthy.gif

c) for viva elite and myvi is it worth to go for EZI?
    - Is the "ABS with ERB & BA" useful like what perodua said?
    - Are the airbags useful in a small car?

I was thinking to go for viva elite but some says saga is bigger & stable or myvi is better because toyota?..Zzz..

icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif
*
Viva elite is overpriced but for ur case, i think a normal viva around 30-40k will do enough. Since u driving city most of the time and short distance, the viva normal spec will just do fine.

Having ABS & EBD is helpful in case during emergency braking and air bags is a plus. But for ur case, get a cheap reliable car will do 1st.

Let say i just a student, and looking for a fuel consumption good and comfort car..which one would be better choice between kancil? Satria?Saga?Iswara? or any other recommend?I looking for manual car. I own a 660 kancil few month ago, but plan to let go it because it powerloss..and the air cond not that comfort, i prefer those car comfort and wont so heat like kancil. And every 3 month+ i will drive car back JB from KL..is over 400Km journey, and kancil is not comfort and danger of it..so which one would be my better choice? My budget is from 6K--->9K and i able to find those car within this budget on my list..Satria is the most expensive..But for me, satria is safety and fun. And the car mostly use for campus..and sometime hanging around KL area, and sometime use to back Hometown.
*
This is kinda tough with ur budget. Looks like u can opt for a manual satria or wira (around 1995-2000) around that range. U may opt for a 1.5cc car if u gonna travel in the highways.

I may want to opt for the altis 1.8 for that. It fits most of ur requirements. Btw is this for a new car or used?

Other alternatives including the honda civic.

im thinking to get a new car and my budget is below 50k and i nail down to these two...there are some question that i would like all sifu to help me...these are the things that im looking for, the best that i wish to get from these two cars are following the numbers.btw my basic salary is 2.5k basic but sometimes commission can get up to 3k or 4k below (added my basic). and my parents are willing to help me pay the downpayment 1st 50%. and im driving a bmw325i old series, and the petrol is realy killing me.

Proton Saga BLM vs Myvi

1)Fuel Consumption (Daily Use)
2)Comfort
3)Performance
4)Handling
5)The Looks
6)future slightly modify on the looks

hope Some1 can give me some information. thanks alot

ps: im buying it after 6 months so there much more time to consider.
*
Based on ur criterias between myvi n saga BLM

1. FC- Myvi simply wins here. The saga BLM has poorer FC here. Best go for the manual Myvi.
2. Comfort - Both should be more or less the same as it caters for general driving. Myvi ones are abit stiffer though.
3. Performance - Myvi has advantage of dvvt while saga just have IAFM. Its more or less the same but i prefer the myvi dvvt here more.
4. Handling - Saga BLM handles better here.
5. Looks - Well, subjective sweat.gif
6. Future modding - both should be modifiable but it seems there are more options to mod the myvi.

I would choose the myvi based on ur requirements here, but u can look for the hyundai/inokom i10 as alternative.

Hi, I have a budget of about RM80k+...
Any suggestion of car? I dont mind bout used car, but not too old... Prefer a family/comfortable car...

In my mind now im thinking of this two:

1. Honda Accord 2.0 year 2004 (used)
2. Honda City Latest Model (new)

Hope sifu here advice and give some comment and suggestion..
Thanks in advanced...
*
If u love a fuel saving car and dont mind the long 2-3 month waiting list, go for the city. Otherwise, the 2004 honda accord is fine. In fact i felt it is a better overall car than the city.

6. NA or FI :  -
7. Type : Preferably hatchback or small
8. Remarks : Cheap maintenance, low FC, safe (not milo tin), need acceleration (unlike my 1.5 auto Wira)

Is manual Savvy my best choice?
*
The viva is a suitable choice here given ur budget here. U can opt for the manual savvy lite as well if u okay with it.

Planning to get a 2nd hand car to get me to work from PJ to KL/Shah Alam, since my previous Citra got stolen.

Got an RM25k budget. Not too particular about AT or MT. I've seen a couple of choices:

1. 2007 1.2 Savvy MT
2. 2005 1.3 Getz AT
3. 2004 1.1 Picanto AT
4. 2004 1.3 Kia Rio AT

Any thoughts on the above? Or should I look for something else with my budget?
*
U may wanna get AT since driving manuals in KL is a chore n tiring. I would pick the Picanto 1.1. If u want boot space, go for the Kia Rio.

2. 60k+-

5. Automatic
6. ??
7. Sedan
8. Fuel Save; long term car, will not change another new car in 5 to 10 years time
*
I would wanna pick the used honda city for this case. U should know u never know what happen to most Proton cars 5 years and above. sweat.gif The honda city saves fuel better than persona so pick a good unit and u will do fine.

4. Specs ~ As long as fuel efficient
5. Transmission. ~ Prefer Auto
6. NA or FI ? ~ What is this?
7. Type. (Sedan, 2 Seater, Convertible, and etc) ~ anything drivable to work la..
8. Remarks. ~ Need car fast, preferably by next two weeks! Help!

Why would u want a renault kangoo? If u can find a used naza 206 bestari then go for it.

If u love driving, pick the persona. If u gonna carry 5 people n lots of luggage, the alza will do fine.

wanna hear all tai lou2 opinions,

with average of 2.7k per month, is it normal to buy a 70k 2nd hand car?..this is my 1st exp to buy a car since just started working 4 7 month..

If there no downpayment or min downpayment of 7k only then i advise u not too. My rule of max 1/4 of ur salary for car installment so u only can go max 700 per month for installments.

I just want a car that is
1. Fuel efficient
2. within 40-50k range
3. For driving to work and back that's all
4. Auto transmission
5. Reliable & safe
6. Instalment a month not more than RM500 (5 - 9 years)
7. I don't like rip-off high interest rate like the payment for a 3.75% loan rate for exora is equivalent to buying a 2.88% loan rate for Avanza.

That's all.. I dun mind it's not powerful because I'm not speeding.
*
I would say the new viva will be a better choice, just nicely fits within ur budget. A used myvi around 30-35k is possible as well. But bear in mind u gonna pay up to 3.5-4% interest rate for such cars. Still not a bad thing as u dont need to pay alot for such cars.

I think u can opt for civics and corolla from the 90ist, i bet u can get for less than 30-20k and for sure despite only 1.6cc they are good in performance n handling for its class. I used to have the AE101 corolla SEG so it fits most of ur requirements.

However, these cars aged 10-15 yrs n above so dont ever think of getting a loan here.
