Hi, today after the whole day of outing, I have 3 vios in my mind which need you guys recommendation.

A) Vios E 2004
mileage: 100k
Price : 53,800
seller: topmark
Remarks:
-Interior a little bit old.
-minor accident at the front which repaired.
-Low interest rate, 2.88%
-Top mark repair, polish all.
-1 year chasis and gear box warranty.
-Got a little bit sound at break when I drive.

B) Vios E 2006
mileage: 80k
Price: 55,500
seller: direct owner
Remarks:
-Interior ok.
-I don't like the "green black" colour.
-No major accident, the buyer fix those minor accident.

C) Vios E 2007
mileage: 133k
Price: 56,500
seller: direct owner
-The interior still got "new smell" and good.
-Test drove the car, it's just same as other car mentioned above even it's 133k mileage. I only test drive at short distance, less than 60km/h.
-No major accident, the buyer fix those minor accident for me.
I bold the disadvantage of the car above. Any advise you guys can give me? smile.gif

Btw, Which and what bank can get the best interest rate in case I buy from direct owner?
*
From those choices i would pick A, although the other 2 is okay. What quirks me about C is the high mileage.

1. Brand : Mercedes c200/c180
2. Budget : 40k
3. New/Used/Unreg : Used of course. Preferably with airbags both side version
4. Specs : Full Spec
5. Transmission : Auto. Manual is very rare for Merc
6. NA or FI :  NA
7. Type : 4 seater.
8. Remarks : Preferably with AMG bodykits smile.gif

my salary is around 3k+, and just married. how is the reliability of this car, can be daily driven?
*
I would not recommend u to get a used and old Merc with ur such salary and commitment. It may be cheap but its is expensive to maintain.

QUOTE(carbonfibre @ Nov 22 2009, 09:38 PM)
whats the secondhand price of satria neo 1.6 around? is there an auto version ah  laugh.gif
*
An 06 one can get you approx 35-40k. There is an auto version, but may recommend u to get manual coz the auto is very underpowered.

1. Brand : getz/i10/picanto/swift/jazz
2. Budget : 65k
3. New/Used/Unreg : new
4. Specs : Full Spec
5. Transmission : Auto.
6. NA or FI : i dont know
7. Type : 4 seater
8. Remarks : im a ladies.nett salary 2.5k.downpayment will fully support by parents.travel ev day almost 80km so that i need a fuel-saver car.only can drive for a medium size car up to saga blm's size.but i wont choose saga because my fam have one.this is my first car and i hope to use it for a long time.

-heard that getz will be replace with other model soon.so,should i wait a bit.but how soon?
-heard that naza's car got a lot of prob.correct or not?
-feel like to have swift.but its too common on the road.same like myvi.
-is it true that i10 size is like viva's size?
-people said honda is not fuel saver car.should i forget jazz?

thank you and best regards.
*
Scratch jazz n swift with ur such salary. sad.gif

I would go for a i10 as it is a variable option for those looking for a sub mini car for city driving and an alternative to the viva. Since u gonna use a long time resale value wont hurt much and its a good fuel saver too. Go for the i10.

QUOTE(dengwong @ Nov 23 2009, 05:30 PM)
My sis is 26 years old and looking for her working car (also same as me, sales ppl) with budget around 50K++, the following is the brand & car in her mind.

2nd hand
Toyota Vios G spec (2004)
Honda City VTEC (2004)
Nissan Sentra 1.6 (2004/05)

New
Proton persona 1.6 M/H-Line (manual/AT)

Remarks: Auto/Manual is doesn’t matter for her as long as SAVE OIL.

She did not consider about proton saga blm & myvi, since both cars are too common & under power for her. ( as what she told me tongue.gif)

As what we always consider is FC, performace, maintenance cost…etc. she travels a lot in Highway & City, sometimes even outstation…a reliable car is very important for her… nanti d car break down suddenly she also don’t know how especially kat outstation… rclxub.gif

Previously she was thinking to buy viva 660 by cash so that can jimat interest.  But end up she had changed her mind & increase budget for her next ride. Coz viva 660 is under power for her blush.gif
Please advice this lady. With little money but demand a lot sweat.gif . Thanks smile.gif
*
Hmm with such demand, i can only think of a used city/vios at 50-60k.

QUOTE(Myter @ Nov 24 2009, 11:56 AM)
1. Brand : swift (new)/city (used)/Vios(used)
2. Budget : salary take home 2.4k

4. Specs : Full Spec
5. Transmission :

based on my salary factor which one i should choose even actually i more towards new car...but heard about swift maintenance that so high(oil filter =rm80 zzz)...afraid after paid monthly payment, utilities bills, house rent, fuel and food...left only around rm200 of monthly saving...can survive or not?
*
RM200 for monthly saving is unacceptable. Make sure u can pay ur car installments within the min of 1/3 of ur net salary but i recommend 1/4 instead.

That is why i recommend u 1/4 instead of 1/3. But swift is a low maintainence car. Maybe 1 month savings can be used for 6 months maintainence.

cheap maintenance, easy to get spare parts-->Proton & Perodua
With RM62k budget can consider Persona, Waja or Alza(March 2010 get car).

Besides can look for Hyundai accent made 2008(brand new) selling RM5xk
*
My advise is avoid it. Hyundai is not with good hands in mysia. I bet resale value will be terrible and since Hyundai is taken over by berjaya (accent is from oriental which now has no more rights on Hyundai). I cant comment much about parts or maintenance but comparing the accent n persona, the persona is a safer buy.

8. Remarks. It's for my sis, she will be starting work soon. Currently eyeing on a Myvi but looking for other options too. Myvi 1.3 2007, 2008, 2009 price too if possible. Low fuel consumption and not so high to maintain. Something higher while driving.

Is swift maintenance as high as Honda/Toyota?
*
Honda city will be ur pick. U can get a 04-06 model for less than 60k or around 50k then.

Just want to ask your oponion. I'm really interested in Nissan Latio Sport. My salary is about 3.5k/month.Is it affordable?
*
Hmmm i would suggest put more downpayment and take around 50-60k loan. My rule of 1/4 of ur net salary means u may fork not more than 900 a month. Its okay but seriously i suggest u put more downpayment if possible.

Hmm, if u looking into adding bodykits in the future, and likes leather seats then the SE is a worthy buy. Other than that, if u okay with the premium (aka full spec) then just go for it.

*
If u want compact, consider neo 1.6 cps or myvi. Go for myvi if reliability and low maintenance is ur answer, while if u love driving and do not think of family commitments on the coming years, the satria neo will suit u well.

Other alternatives inc 2005-06 suzuki swift, around 50-60k as well.

QUOTE(sephiroth1810 @ Nov 29 2009, 09:43 PM)
Hi all, please advice. =)

I already have the car in mind, so i just need feedback and opinions.

Of course you're all welcomed to suggest other cars as well =D

Budget is 60k for secondhand, prefer manual but auto's fine.

Preferably a european car.
So the car my dad and I had in mind for me is a Volvo S40.
We like for its small and sporty looks, not to mention Volvo's also known for its safety.

I'm 19 this year, and i'll be using the car for long distance driving so yeah, safety comes first.
And we have always prefered european cars. =D

I've heard maintainance, fuel comsumption, and no re-sale value issues about volvo cars, but please fill me up on more.

Thanks.
*
Do u mean the s40 post 2004 model? Well it is a nice looking car but i believe the maintenance for volvos esp the older models will be kinda high. That explains their poor resale value.

Do proper research on local volvo forums to see how they maintain their cars. Always remember no point buying a car that no one can know how to fix in ur area. wink.gif

Other alternatives inc the E36 BMW 3 series, the 95-99 model should able to be obtained at ur budget range.

I would go for the exora here. It is very spacious for a family of 5-7 and it is indeed good value. However concern here is the underpowered engine so dont expect fuel economy here.

If if u can up ur budget to 80k++, the nissan grand livina is a better option.

Thanks for the great advice.

I found a Honda City I-DSI, year 2007 selling RM65K. Not sure if the price is reasonable? Else, what would be a reasonable price range?
Also, how to know if the CVT having any issues during test drive? Any tips on this?  biggrin.gif

Thanks and have a nice day
*
65K is quite decent but pls do check if there a service record to see if the car is properly serviced by Honda. To test out, ask for a test drive and perform some gear change, both on gear shifter and the steering buttons. If all goes well, then u can buy it.

I would choose the accord 2002 if i were u here. Basically nothing wrong among the 2 choices but N16 has kinda have a high FC. But since u dont mind having a FC of a 2.0 then its a minor issue here.

Accord is big and spacious and if size n space is ur priority then go for it.

Japanese brands like toyota n honda will have better resale value. But if ur concern is driving ur car for the next 5-7 years then resale value wont be a priority here.

For best value car, i will pick the forte. It is very well equipped C segment car (altis civic class) for a price of a vios. What else u can ask? But do pls test drive and see if u like it.

hi guys i need a car or shud i say mpv that is low maintainance and fuel consumption
i would like to use this mpv to carry 7 adults+2kids (2 family) to around malaysia
our family are big sized
i suggested to get hyundai starex since its a 11 seaters but my uncle said the car is high maintainance (does this mpv have petrol version?)
then my uncle suggested to get toyota alphard (he said this mpv  low maintainance and reliable)
any other mpv that you think would suits my family...thx biggrin.gif
*
I would want to pick the alphard but within ur budget mostly u can get those used units rather than the unregistered ones. The unregistered ones will easily cost 150-200k++ more. Furthermore UMW will not entertain u as they did not bring the alphard and u may need to service outside which is a hassle.

If u want less hessle in aftermarket services, the hyundai starlet is a better choice as it comes from the official hyundai distributor.

I love PUNTO since i was in college. How is the FC? But I'm worry that it will be high in maintenance and really hard to find spare parts sad.gif  . Is it worth to buy? Same question go to KENARI also smile.gif
*
Hmmm i would like to go for punto if i really know how to maintain italian cars and i want to be different, not forgeting i can afford to spend more for maintainence. I would like to keep the punto for many years even when the years comes by i can afford to buy better cars, not forgeting i willing to spend more for parts even though i wont be getting used parts from chop shops. On that note i stay punto for life!

On the other hand, i dont have much money for cars and i just want a set of reliable wheels to go anyway. I dont want to spend much money for maintenance so i want it to be cheap and reliable. I also want to get a better car once my earning power increases. So i go for the kenari and hopefully i would get a golf/camry once i earn more!

Guess this should answer ur ques. Good luck!

The hyundai atos parts should be okay but parts might be more expensive than the usual kelisa and kenari. I not putting much hopes on the fuel consumption (FC) as the atos belongs to the older gen of korean cars which has high FC.

15k is dirt cheap but why not settle for a used kelisa or kenari? For 20k or less but u will have a peaceful mind as spare parts are cheap and plenty and it has very good FC.

1. myvi ezi yr 2009  (abs+airbag+ba)
2. waja 4g18 yr 2001 91k mileage (no airbag+abs+ba, need some repairing est rm5k tops)

both car nid to pay back father when i work next time.....

THANKs! icon_rolleyes.gif

I would advise to go for the myvi and the myvi is more well equipped then the kosong waja. New will be hassle free and with warranties hence maintenance should be easy.

Unless if u demand a boot, well rather consider a persona M line then a used waja.

If u just want a transport to go campus from ur home which i assume less than 5k frm ur campus, i rather go for a motorbike. If u insist, a used kancil is achieveable with ur budget.

pros and cons of myvi
1. not stable at high speed above 120km/h, very shaky when overtake bus or lorry.....
2. got abs+ebd+ba+airbag
3. acceleration is good from standstill but no power after like reaching 80km/h....
4. very good for city use
5. newer
6. stock sound system sux

pros and cons of waja
1. stable at high speed above 120km/h, not shaky when overtake bus or lorry...
2. more powerful compare with myvi
3. acceleration is not so good from standstill but power comes when at higher speed.....
4. good for long distance travel
5. no abs+ebd+ba+airbag
6. older
7. stock good sound system

so which one shud i choose??? hmm.gif
*
As much as the waja has a better ride and handling than the myvi, how many times u will drive like there no tmr on public roads? If u gonna drive alot in the city the myvi is a good choice but unless if u travel highway alot, take a sedan.

I would prefer a newer car in ur case but it is all depending what sort of traffic u will be travelling the most. I hope this helps.

Well in that case u may as well take the waja since u require to travel long distance and bringing family around. If u can afford a new car the new persona is worth buying. But inheritate a car from family is quite a good and economical idea esp for youngsters who going to study or start working.

I'm getting my first car which is either 1.1 Sutera 2006 or 1.5 Wira 1999 . These are the only choice i have for now cuz my budget is below 20k.
Pls let me know which one has a lower FC and maintenance fees.
I'm a city driver but sometimes will go for high way too maybe few times a year.
*
Avoid, i mean, must avoid the sutera at all cost. It is a nightmare to most owners and the car will be forgotten like the dreadful proton tiara. If u want lower FC and maintenance fees, i might as well rec u to go for a used kelisa or kancil. the 1st gen 01-02 kelisa can be bought within that range.

Hi, all

Am wondering, any advice on comparing Volkswagen Polo and Honda City E? Am finally come to decision on getting on of the car above.

Thanks and best regards,
*
Which volks polo u mean. The new one or the used units from WALD? Avoid the later one but even though the volk polo is expensive, it is a worth buy if u can afford it. Perhaps they discount it to make way for the new gen of polo coming up next year perhaps.

Honda city is pretty much a good b segment saloon but the waiting list is quite long. Well all depends when u need ur car and if u need a boot. I go for the volks polo if i can afford it.

1. Brand = toyota vios/ honda city

*i've noticed that..from previous post there were a few matters about
how much we can save on buying a 2nd hand car at the end of the year or depending on the months (months/years)

i'm not sure how it works...say if i wana get a 2nd hand car,
for example 2006 vios/ 2006 city...better to get it in dec2009 or jan2010

thanks:)

Nah buying used car by end of year wont make much difference. But for that if FC if ur priority, the city idsi is the best option, best for fuel economy and good for long distance. U also never go wrong with the vios too. The vios brings very good FC on long distance runs.

Looks good. Give it a test drive and see if everything is okay from acceleration, gear change and brakes. Make sure it is properly maintained and updated on the service booklet.

owh.. is it? forgot to mention that i live with my family and my workplace is just about 10km from my home. still not sufficient?
*
Unless if u can pay the car in cash and no loan then it should be ok. If u still wanna apply loan with ur salary u wont have much choice nor the bank will approve ur loan. Ur salary is just good enough to provide petrol and maintainence for ur car.

no la.. my father agreed apply the loan using his salary.. i just need to bear the installment, the fuel and the maintainance.. would it be sufficient? from what i heard, savvy fc is quite good and less problem if i take manual.. is it ok? or any suggestion for other car?
*
I have no idea how u gonna cope seeing u end up paying back ur dad. Maybe u pay lesser compared to bank due to interest rate but seriously a salary of 1.3k inc ur meals, fuel, self usage, utilities, entertainment and most importantly personal savings is not enough.

I think that all i can advise. I strongly discourage u from taking any loan which will burden u.

1. Brand : 2003 Honda City/ New Proton Saga SE
2. Budget : 40k-50k
3. New/Used/Unreg : Doesn't matters
4. Specs : Full Spec
5. Transmission : dont mind

headache from choosing these 2 cars,i like the honda city but if its 2003,its going to be a 6 year car...worry of the transmission problem..but if the new saga i dont quite like the interior design, and the rear seems to 'sink' very much if 3 person is sitting behind.
*
I would like the city more as it is a proven reliable and economical car. But just be vary of the gearbox and the maintainence from the past owner. Check the service history to see if it is serviced on scheduled and test drove to see if the gearbox is okay.

If u dont want to spend more on maintenance and wants something for the peace of mind, take the saga. At least ur warranty covers u.

hey guys, im asking on behalf on my aunt. she's single and working just 5 minutes from home and seldom drive more than an hour journey apart from shah alam-KLIA, or shah alam- midvalley. so, she stucks with 2 options, i10 n picanto(latest version). i know from 'noob' research on net i10 is based on picanto. but i10 got 4 stars ncap while picanto got 3stars. anything else should i know about? how about users from both cars?

1. Brand : NazaKia, Hyundai
2. Budget : picanto n i10 are both 50k> right?
3. New/Used/Unreg. : NEW
4. Specs. : high end spec for both cars
5. Transmission. : she cant drive manual, so, AUTO
6. NA or FI ? : picanto n i10 got turbo meh? haha. NA of course
*
Both cars cost less than 50k, but actually nothing go wrong with the 2 cause they are from the same parent company. I'm sure they using the same components/platform.

But i would pick the inokom i10. Naza aftersales sucks and inokom has better advantage on this.

1. Brand : toyota vios, honda city, myvi ????
2. Budget : 50k
3. New/Used/Unreg : Doesn't matters.
4. Specs : ?
5. Transmission : AUTO
6. NA or FI :  NA
7. Type : 5 seater
8. Remarks : I drive 60km a day , mostly highway driving. I prefer a sedan but would not mind something like a Myvi since a new one is within budget.
Just trying to decide between a new myvi or a 2nd hand vios, city?
*
Used vios and city will be a better idea since u dealing with lots of highway driving. Both city n vios gives very decent FC on highways as well. Similiarly, find a unit that is well serviced and test drive to see everything is okay. Good luck smile.gif
