Hi guys,

I have some questions on LCD vs. LED.

So this sales person was explaining the difference between LED and LCD to me the other day.

I am planning to apply normal astro because i am subscribing family package only. beyond is not necessary as my main living hall has astro as well.

He said if normal astro use on LED, the screen will become blurry. And if byond on LCD, same thing will become blurry. Is this true?

Blue-ray output works better on LED. True? I don't have a blue-ray player.

I am planning to get one tomorrow since he told me the offer ends on Sunday. i wanted to buy the LG 42" LCD at Rm1,700 comes with 5 yrs warranty service. the screen panel like wood veneer like, with touch screen buttons.

I just wish to check whether what he said was true or is pure bullshitting.

I still can't decide LCD or LED. please advise.

Thanks

LCD TV=LED TV in terms of panel used. Only difference is, the lighting they use, LCD use CCFL tube while LED use LED, both also on the edge lighting. So he say normal astro will blur on LED is true, while byond is blur on LCD is total bullshit. LED only have better contrast ratio than LCD but nowhere near Plasma black depth and color reproduction. LED TV should be called LED LCD TV, this is the real term.

My brother has done a lot of research about Plasma, LCD and LED. He told me this....

If you watch standard definition Astro on LED, because the source (normal astro) is low quality and the LED will actually expose the bad pixel of the source. Then it becomes worse.
Imagine u view something that is not clear, then you use a magnifier to view it, then it become more blur.

However, if the source is great (bluray), then the LED will fully optimize and show the nice pixel in detailed.

But 1 thing for sure, viewing standard definition astro in PLASMA is alot better than LCD...

That model screen is not even HD, so not recommended if you watch bluray or other HD sourced video
My guess it is targeted for those viewing normal astro (SD) or regular tv & dvd.... To replace a normal CRT TV with a wide screen one

Plasma still hv better pic quality, but slightly..... U can still get a plasma with HD with that budget

Myself, I got an LED bcos it was on clearance (low spec model) so ditched plasma. ?other vantage of LED..
Slim/lighter design (big difference), low power consumption (100w vs 230w ), Full HD

U may need to consider other factors....usb movie playback, smart tv etc...

Only chked out sony, but didn' like the color rendering.... Liked samsung better... Didn't compare with philips, toshiba, sharp or lg

Get the tv with the display u like best and spec meet your needs and enjoy it drool.gif biggrin.gif

hello guys , i am dilemma on choosing between plasma TV or LCD tv, FYI, it is for the main family to watch shows from 8TV or NTV7 or astro (NO GAMES, OR BLUERAY) , so which is better in these terms ? currently im into samsung plasma 43e451, so how u guys thinks?

Since you dont play games, i'd say scrap lcd/led.

Go for plasma they're bigger and well priced, they beat any high-end lcd/led for SD contents like tv3, ntv7, 8tv and etc. Even the HD Ready 43 inch performs better than any 40-42" 60hz full HD LED TV in terms picture quality.
