i faced the same problem. it seems like a bug on the stock sms program. but now i m using "handcent sms". its free on the market and google pinyin works fine on it. it even has iphone-alike skin, if you fancy one.

hope it'll get fixed on 2.2

First day with the Milestone was terrible. The battery died by 8 pm (fully charged in the morning). However, today (2nd day), things are a bit better. Now 8 pm I still got another 40% left. And I unplugged the phone from the charger earlier today. So I guess the battery needs some "running in" eh? Hmm.....

Overall, I am getting along well with the Android experience. More refreshingly cheerful compared to my blackberry.... Hahaha.... I am missing the BBM though....

do these to save battery juice

1. download apndroid from market. its free. add its widget on your screen. always disable (red color) when not using internet. possible issue: if u use wifi then afterwards u cannot connect thru 3g/edge/gprs, need to reboot the phone.

2. set the brightness level to lowest and probably disable auto brightness. screen uses the most power, so the brighter it go, the faster it drains the battery.

3. disable 'background data' and 'auto-sync' feature in menu - account & sync setting page. use them only when required.

4. use only 2g network for normal usage (sms n call). menu - wireless & networks - mobile networks setting page. if this setting enabled and u enabled the apndroid, u will only get edge internet connection. u can still get fast browsing speed with edge if u use opera mini browser, but only recommended for sites that dont require logins for security reason.

5. turn off wifi and gps when not in use.

6. use dark wallpapers?

7. install task manager app. any app that can kill those apps which still runs in the background, but make sure to put system apps or 'always running' apps in the ignore list. 'always running' apps such as 'voice dialler', 'usb', replacement launcher/sms/keyboard clients etc. u can clear the phone memory at the same time.

hopefully u could get 2-3 days uptime with light usage.

it seems like my milestone can lasts longer since i keep it plugged in to power cord anytime power is available. i tried plugging out the power after fully charged for few weeks trying to record longest lasting time without charging, but it usually last 1 day with normal usage. now it can last for 2 days with normal browsing and playing some light games.

and juicedefender is quite suck since it requires some time to initialize the connection when toggling the APN, so sometimes you cannot send/receive call/sms few minutes after you turn on/off the phone. not sure if it happens with all other APN controller apps.

Ah, I actually miss the trackball on my previous Magic a little more than I thought I would.

Also, after experiencing "vanilla" on my Milestone do I realize how many SenseUI features I take for granted. Such as the built in widget to control Mobile Data.

I'm debating of getting a Milestone (AP set) but I was wondering about aftersale support?

Are there any authorized service center for Motorola in KL? also where can I get accessories for the Milestone other than online?

If u are getting AP go for HK set since history has showed us that they are the fastest to issue bug fixes (see latest build 2.34.3) & firmware upgrades (see Android 2.1) compare to other countries biggrin.gif

just wait for proper system update-lah. we consider lucky already having 2.1 not like some phones that still stuck with 1.6, if u know what i mean.
