Ok and what do you think of those settings ?
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

When profil Battery is selected the CPU will alway run at 550Mhz with 0.75V

When Balanced is selected it allows you to reduce CPU temperature while juste browsing on sector or just doing some deskop applications.

When high is selected, in order to play game for example, your CPU runs always at his max speed with an undervolted input which allows CPU to get cooler, but does it affect performances???? I don't know.

Don't you think that it's better than setting manually frequency? Here i just have to change the profil, it's really faster.

And in an older post you said that you are able to get 2h from your battery in dGPU mode, I know that it will be hard with XP but can you tell me how do you do that because i wanna try!

PS : srry for bad english^^ ( French )
*
It should be beter like that, and don't worry about undervolt it won't reduce the performance at all.

To quote about what I do to increase battery life, and some aother additional tweak:

QUOTE

If you guys wanted to try to save battery further, you could try my untested 'Superleggera' theory:

1) Remove the optical drive.
How many of us use optical drive all the time? With it removed, theoretically there is more air going inside your lappy with back cover closed and the current draw of this drive is 1.5A, it supposed to increase battery life too, I'm testing the former right now, and it seems temperature is only 2-3C higher than with the backpanel removed

2) Disable unwanted stuff, like LAN, in BIOS if you don't use it.
I never use LAN for my lappy so now I disable it. You can disable other stuff like audio if you just wanted to browse in the mamak stall, maybe can further save few more minutes

3) Continue disable unwanted stuff.
I going trully nuts with this, I disable the internal mousepad entirely because I use mouse 100% of the time by disconnecting the ribbon cable behind the keyboard, but this means the L.E.D indicator underneath it won't work anymore. You can disable memory card reader in Device Manager too if you don't use it, and some of the USB port too

4) Reduce the HD4570 clock even further, I get it run at 150MHz core with 200MHz memory. Could try it lower. Use AMD GPU Clock Tool

5) Don't use the battery when you plug to the wall after full charge.

I think it does. Compare with my ex-cq40-125ax and my loan-k40ab... i notice the k40ab response bit slow while playing games (Company Of Heroes, Guitar heroes, Red Alert 3 in all high, res ....err forgot).

i've already compared my K50AB QL-64 with my roommate K40AB RM75 with gaming performance, actually i cant see the slight difference performance, even both overclock the GC and maximise CPU performance.

Not much difference right. The advantages is in memory and power saving only. I doubt even 5% increase of overall performance.

Ok Najmods.

For HD4570 memory speed, 150Mhz seems to be the minimum, i tryed 100Mhz but when i launched a video, there were some perturbations on my screen.
With core at 100Mhz and memory at 150Mhz, i can look a movie without any problem.

I'm doing a test of my battery tonight, i'm going to see how many time i can reach with processor 550Mhz/7.5V and HD4570 core 100Mhz / Memory 150Mhz all the time in dGPU mode.

I'll tell you the result tomorow !

OMG, update my bios to ver 2.16. And currently facing this prob:
1. cant use dgpu mode(it wont detect my hd4570 ><, have to use power express mode which switching had currently enable.
2. previously i m able to run nfs:shift, now whenever the race start, it crash.

Anyone hav any idea what shoud i do? I install the latest catalyst and driver but in my device manager page, it always said my graphic driver date 18 March 2009 ==

*btw, currently it set my hd 4570 default clock to 250 and memory clock to 250 too, i use amd cpu mod tool to set it back to 680 and 500, it is ok to do so?

Result of my battery test :

Windows XP pro SP3
CPU - Speed : 550Mhz - Voltage : 7,5V - All the time same settings
HD4570 - Core : 100Mhz - Memory : 150Mhz - Voltage : 0,9V - All the time same settings in dGPU mode
Luminosity 0% (min)
Peripheric conected : Only an USB 3G+ modem

Résult : 1h 50min, just browsing on internet and chatting on Windows live messenger.

So I think that without the 3G+ modem I can reach 2h+ which would allow me to look a movie for exemple tongue.gif

After that i did some tests in order to overclock my HD4570 and i found some amazing results

First i did a Street fighter IV benchmark with defaut settings for HD4570 ( Core : 680Mhz - Memory : 500Mhz ) and Max speed but undervolted processor (Speed : 2200Mhz - Voltage : 1,075V), same settings all the time.

The CPU reached the max temperature of 78°C and the GPU Reached the max temperature of 96°C. I was a little bit surprised by those high temperature without any overclocked hardware and moreover with an undervolted CPU...

I did the same test while overclocking my HD4570 this time (Core : 700Mhz - Memory : 600Mhz) and still CPU at max speed and undervolted (Speed : 2200Mhz - Voltage : 1,075V)

And the result is amazing too. CPU reached 76°C only and GPU 94°C only. I was expecting to get higher temperature than the previous but overclocking my HD4570 doesn't seem to have any effect on the temperature. However it gives me a huge boost in FPS in Street Fighter IV Benchmark (70+ FPS against 60+ without overclocking).

So i wonder, are the temperatures normal or too high?

Do i do something wrong?

Thanks for reading and sry for bad english !

Battery life is on par with me actually, I have slightly higher at about 2 hours. The temperature is fine. Keep the CPU undervolted, it won't reduce your CPU speed but it will definitely keeps the temperature low.

The reason why the temperature is the same maybe because you just running simple game, not stress test software

Ok so i don't have to worry about the 96°C of the GPU? And when you say that it will definitely keeps the temperature low, you considere that 78°C is a low temperature?

I would like to know, what is the defaut voltage of the CPU? 1,2V or lower? Thanks for your help.

Read around this thread, there are poeple who get over 100C for GPU but still play games just fine.

I don't know, its your responsibility to remember the stock voktage and clocks on your CPU before altering with them. I using Athlon X2 QL-64, I don't know if the voltage is the same or not. Best thing to do is Google
