Multimonitor in new driver is great, it automatically detect and work like a charm, no surprise since ATi/AMD has been stressing on those department since the release of HD 5XXX with their Eyefinity. GTA IV played like a dream on 32" Panasonic Viera at 1366x768.
On a side note, I done some tracing on voltage regulator on HD 4570 and did a memory Vmod slightly (I just use pencil on all the resistor there judging pin pinout) and I got extra 10MHz out of it. If I can cool it good enough maybe it can reach the magic 625MHz I was looking for because it was artifacting after long usage at 617.5MHz, no articfact at 612MHz even after 2-3 hours of gaming, but I need to find thermal pad first, the thick one like you found on memory on graphics card, like this. Before Vmod its only stable at 603MHz, and it will hang at anything higher after prolong use no matter whether it have artifact or not |

QUOTE(Sertek @ Dec 25 2009, 07:24 AM) Hi all. There are 5 profile you could set on k10stat, if you messed up the first one and forgot the stock one just select another profile at P-State tabs. If you want the setting to load at startup see my first post, there is a link thereNajmods i need your help I try to use K10 stats but i encounter some difficulties First here there is my profil settings. ![]() It seems to work good but i have some questions : - How can i manage to get K10 stats near to the windows clock permanently without having the windows open on m deskop ? EDIT : Forget this question i have found the command -stayontray - How can i do to get bak to my original CPU settings? I rebooted my computer without lauching K10 stats and this is what i get : ![]() Thanks you for your help ! The 500MHz is totally normal, its CnQ at work, if you want to permanently run at 2.2GHz set the Power Options in control panel at Maximum Performance and manually set the 2200 by clicking on both core at P-State tabs and click apply, your CPU should run at 2.2GHz all the time |

QUOTE(Sertek @ Dec 25 2009, 07:04 PM) Ty Najmod, so tell me what do you think of those settings: Because you use XP, I don't think you could save up as much power as you do on later Windows version like 7. For maximum effectiveness, just run one profile, but you manually set the frequency at which it will run, say you just wanted to browsing, click on what P-state you want, for this example I wanted to run at P3 with 550MHz, so I clikc on P2 and '550' speed on both core and click apply, it will run 550MHz all the time, and that will save battery but the downside is you need to manually set it to higher speeds if you want to run on more taxing program/gamesWhen i'm on battery : ![]() When i'm on sector but not playing : ![]() When i'm on sector and playing : ![]() And K10 stats run at session opening with those options : -StayOnTray -nw -lp:2 -ClkCtrl:3 It's the first time i use this type of software so i don't really now how to set it! EDIT : I forgot one thing, what is the original voltage of the processor? 1,2V? 1,15? EDIT2 : I don't find the file k10stats.dat in the c:\windows\system32 directory and k10stats doesn't save the changes i do... wtf? EDIT3 : Ok the solutions seems to be that you have to edit profils one by one or the software doesn't save changes. EDIT4 : How do you do? xD You could find original voltage and frequency on Profile you dont edit This post has been edited by Najmods: Dec 26 2009, 12:30 AM |

QUOTE(Sertek @ Dec 26 2009, 01:23 AM) Ok and what do you think of those settings ? It should be beter like that, and don't worry about undervolt it won't reduce the performance at all.» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « When profil Battery is selected the CPU will alway run at 550Mhz with 0.75V When Balanced is selected it allows you to reduce CPU temperature while juste browsing on sector or just doing some deskop applications. When high is selected, in order to play game for example, your CPU runs always at his max speed with an undervolted input which allows CPU to get cooler, but does it affect performances???? I don't know. Don't you think that it's better than setting manually frequency? Here i just have to change the profil, it's really faster. And in an older post you said that you are able to get 2h from your battery in dGPU mode, I know that it will be hard with XP but can you tell me how do you do that because i wanna try! PS : srry for bad english^^ ( French ) To quote about what I do to increase battery life, and some aother additional tweak: QUOTE If you guys wanted to try to save battery further, you could try my untested 'Superleggera' theory: 1) Remove the optical drive. How many of us use optical drive all the time? With it removed, theoretically there is more air going inside your lappy with back cover closed and the current draw of this drive is 1.5A, it supposed to increase battery life too, I'm testing the former right now, and it seems temperature is only 2-3C higher than with the backpanel removed 2) Disable unwanted stuff, like LAN, in BIOS if you don't use it. I never use LAN for my lappy so now I disable it. You can disable other stuff like audio if you just wanted to browse in the mamak stall, maybe can further save few more minutes 3) Continue disable unwanted stuff. I going trully nuts with this, I disable the internal mousepad entirely because I use mouse 100% of the time by disconnecting the ribbon cable behind the keyboard, but this means the L.E.D indicator underneath it won't work anymore. You can disable memory card reader in Device Manager too if you don't use it, and some of the USB port too 4) Reduce the HD4570 clock even further, I get it run at 150MHz core with 200MHz memory. Could try it lower. Use AMD GPU Clock Tool 5) Don't use the battery when you plug to the wall after full charge. |

QUOTE(Sertek @ Dec 26 2009, 08:52 PM) Battery life is on par with me actually, I have slightly higher at about 2 hours. The temperature is fine. Keep the CPU undervolted, it won't reduce your CPU speed but it will definitely keeps the temperature low. The reason why the temperature is the same maybe because you just running simple game, not stress test software This post has been edited by Najmods: Dec 26 2009, 09:47 PM |

QUOTE(Sertek @ Dec 27 2009, 12:34 AM) Ok so i don't have to worry about the 96°C of the GPU? And when you say that it will definitely keeps the temperature low, you considere that 78°C is a low temperature? Read around this thread, there are poeple who get over 100C for GPU but still play games just fine.I would like to know, what is the defaut voltage of the CPU? 1,2V or lower? Thanks for your help. I don't know, its your responsibility to remember the stock voktage and clocks on your CPU before altering with them. I using Athlon X2 QL-64, I don't know if the voltage is the same or not. Best thing to do is Google |

Thank you for the impression with the driver. I have some problem launching the game, but I don't know whether its related to the sound problem.
The problem is when I double click the game, it won't load but when I open up task manager it DID have the process running, he only solution is terminate the process and run again and it worked I don't know if this are related to sound, but even foobar2000 also have the same problem, I'll test various driver and see whether its relatd to the sound or not |

QUOTE(User_Xp @ Jan 4 2010, 11:07 AM) Nah not worth it, for the price I rather have high capacity drive than small SSD. Furthermore SSD is not perfect, like it degrade as you use it and it don't write as fast as their read performanceI tested F.E.A.R 2: Project Origin, it played just fine on this lappy, turn of FSAA and motion blur I could play it at native resolution with medium detail |

Please guys don't go off topic. No one cares what your gf wanted to use. This is is not kopitiam. Keep this thread clean
Going back on the topic, my CPU usage does shoots up to 50% all of the sudden sometime, it might related to the sound driver This post has been edited by Najmods: Jan 5 2010, 08:07 PM |

It happened when I first install it, currently its fine, no slowdown when gaming, it seems like its fixed by itself. CPU usage is fine when gaming, when I mean its fine, only the game itself that uses CPU and not other unwanted process robbing performance. Before this I got major slowdown when playing Doom3, I'll try it now whether it happened again or not
EDIT; Doom3 runs fine thankfully I never liked VIA sound codec TBH because I have some bad history with them, I would rather have Analog Device AD1988B if I wanted an integrated sound This post has been edited by Najmods: Jan 6 2010, 12:31 AM |

QUOTE(Sertek @ Jan 6 2010, 12:56 AM) That's what i was thinking but how do you explain that : That is interesting finding. I think I'll try to download the older driver and see whether it could improve game performanceDirt all settings low at 800*480 with lastest VIA drivers : Cpu 100% all the time, GPU 80% and game very laggy. DMC4 benchmark with lastest VIA Drivers : 40 FPS Dirt all settings low at 1024*600 with Audio drivers from ASUS support : CPU 85% max, GPU 100% and game playable. DMC4 with Audio drivers from ASUS support : 80 FPS Well i since i put the old audio drivers, i have better performance in many game, Dirt, DMC4, PES2008... But there is some game where there is no difference : Street Fighter4, Assassin's Creed... So i really think that there were an issue with my audio drivers. On the other hand, for you guys to achieve lower temperature when gaming, lower the GPU voltage. In some older games you don't need 680MHz 1.2V, I found that even with 0.9V the GPU frequency can reach around 540MHz while still being very cool. 1V could take you to 620MHz while 1.1V could reach 720MHz, and the maximum 1.2V could reach 780MHz. But because it only use DDR2 memory, I suggest keep the core at stock clock and just ramp up the memory to the max. I found some thermal pad from old card and used it to cool down memory, I could eek out a little bit more from it as a result |

QUOTE(Sertek @ Jan 6 2010, 01:43 AM) Hum that's very interesting, i was wondering if 1.1V was enough when you overclock HD4570 at 700Mhz/600Mhz. Yes it can run 700MHz with 1.1V.And i'm planning to flash the BIOS of my card in order to overclock/downclock it keeping powerplay active, but i little bit fear to kill my card because it's not listed in Radeon Bios Editor even if i can acquire the BIOS and see that the clock are right...... Moreover i didnt succed getting the BIOS of the card with ATIflash so i won't try to flash the BIOS with it lol... Its risky to flashing BIOS, not because its hard but there is lacking support, there is lots of software that unable to read the GPU properly. Even after few months this GPU has been released, even overclocking is hard, only GPU Clock Tool are able to overclock it, others just can read the clock but unable to overclock it. I found a software to acquire the BIOS and editing the clock but its too risky. The software name is RBE, Radeon BIOS Editor. Try at your own risk, I'm not responsible for any hardware/software damage because of it. EDIT: I just use stock Windows driver for audio, it worked well, no problem with game loading and no slowdown either This post has been edited by Najmods: Jan 6 2010, 02:06 AM |

QUOTE(Sertek @ Jan 6 2010, 02:41 AM) Even if memory is at 600Mhz? Memory voltage is fixed, the voltage I mentioned is just for the GPU, even if you run at 0.9V you could still maxed the memory speedYou can overclock the HD4570 with Rivatuner too, there is a tuto here : http://twisted-reviews.com/overclocking-at...-hd4650-hd4670/ I know that it is risky to flash the BIOS, that's why i didn't do that for the moment^^ I'm just annoyed by having to reboot my computer in order to get powerplay back. Thanks for the RivaTuner tweak, I appreciate that |
