Marketing gimmick for using 1GB graphics memory. I think it's going to be GDDR3 or worse DDR3.
Now this would suit you better than AW M11x or Asus UL series. Although GT330 is still way better than HD5470. And except for battery life perhaps.
Will cost about RM2.7k - 2.9k ?
Exactly, Its better to opt for smaller but fast memory on low end cards, I would rather have 256MB GDDR3 than 512MB DDR2 in HD4570, likewise on HD5470, its better to have 512MB GDDR5 than 1GB of worthless DDR3, I bet the clockspeed is only at paltry 800MHz Now this would suit you better than AW M11x or Asus UL series. Memory bandwidth of only 8GB/s on our k40AB is pathetic in today games, heck its pathetic in last two years or so, and if it indeed using 800MHz DDR3 in k42 the bandwidth is only 12.8GB/s, compared to mighty 28.8GB/s if they use 900MHz GDDR5 (up to 32GB/s if uses 1GHz)
I swear to God if there is notebook manufacturer uses GDDR5 on HD5470 on 14" display or less I would buy it without even thinking of Alienware M11x, provide that the price is reasonable that is. Even though it only have 4 ROPs even the small increment in memory speed will provide a significant performance improvement because of its high core clocks. Of course Alienware M11x GT 335M (not GT 330M mind you, different core if Notebookcheck is accurate) would be miles better as it have 72 stream processor and 128-bit memory, but unless it uses Core i5 at least I won't buy it, it would lag on some games that dependant on clockspeed
I've been reading AMD would release Phenom II X4 for laptop, but the clockspeed is only around 2~2.3GHz IIRC. I would wait for that just wanted to see how AMD stacks up
