Yeap told me I'd be getting mine before this Friday; apparently his stocks will be in today. I will checkup especially the camera issue but to me is not important as I rarely use camera. Will test it few days first before deciding to return if camera is faulty.
Other reported "hardware" issues will also assess it and report back when I get my unit
Other "sofware" issues as mentioned I see is no major issue ; I have been using htc pdas since they were first available ( I 'd say you name it, 9/10 I have used it before) and everytime I see barrage of criticisms on the web whenever any new product is launched. I'd say most users had very high expectations and expect a near perfect pda. Many issues are easily overcome with tweaking - and if you do read the "fine print" if any, many users complaining but never really say what they'd installed . Whether one like it or not, some software though installable are incompatible - example WM5 software though installable on WM6.1 and WM6.5 devices sometimes create conflict, create unstability. I have been tinkering with these and had been helping my friends resolving such issues. Most recent a htc TP2 , I have a friend who always complaining about unit hang/freeze and I trace it down to his installation of more than one type of Chinese font system in it. After its removal leaving only one type, the unit does not hang anymore
Even the great iphone has its share of criticicms esp on the keyboard and SMS functions. I bought the first gen iphone 2G (8GB) and sold it off within a week at big loss as the hype of it was so great I just couldn't resist. At one of the last Beamfest MPC , I unashamedly declare the iphone was the worst pda I have ever use - well you can just see the brickbats that were thrown back to me then. Unconvinced that it was that bad, later i bought the latest 3G 16GB model supposed with improved software, SMS, MMS , file functions, etc - sad to say but till today it is inside my drawer collecting dust ; used it barely a week. I'd just justified not using it simply because I always compare its functionality and practicality against the Windows PDA which I'd been using since the very first unit HP 548 was launched more than 10 years ago. Till today I find the iphone more of a multimedia and browser pda and not so suitable for biz user like me.
