Thanks for all d advise. My question of d battery is mainly going to surf d net. Samsung HD full charge and use 30min plus browsing must drop at least 2 bar or more. Is HD 2 like dat?
*
If you surf a lot, better get a spare battery. Afterall what is cost of 1 additional battery if you can afford to buy this pda. As for me, I always buy a spare battery ( who knows when you might need emergency power sometimes ). I also make sure my unit is always being charged when I am driving. As no car charger available now, I charge it using the USB cable ( bought another piece ) plug in to the cigratte lighter with USB port

I just encountered the SMS issue, I sent it yesterday around 2pm and it was only sent this mornign when I sent another sms to another person
*
Did you send directly via the Manila interface from homescreen ? . There seems a bug here ( reported by few at forum XDA ) but problem is it does not appear everytime ; so the security in SMS successfully send is not there.

So far I do face this issue ONCE only 2 days ago when I was in Spore ; the SMS remain in outbox. After I reset, it was then sent out. I resend same SMS using below method and it was sent out immediately

You can test again using the other interface: Select All Messages/Menu/New to compare . To be secure I always use this method to send new and reply SMS

Another point : TO assure yourself the SMS is sent successfully, setup delivery report : All Messages/Menu/Settings/Options : Tick request delivery report

My main grouse about this HD2 is the sensitivity of the screen especially on keyboard input. My "skills " at the input has improved considerably but still make slipups - I really missed the stylus input. So I ordered a Iphone stylus and will be getting it next 2-3 days - it will definately reduce the keys input errors

Are there frequent crashes? Or it's quite stable?
*
Never has freeze/hang issues ; very smooth operator this one. Beats my previous htc HD and TP2 hands down, without any fight

HTC has their official capacitive stylus.. how much did u pay?
*
HTC stylus reportedly will only be available in Jan ; too long cannot wait for it. Based on web reviews, the htc stylus is specifically being develop for the HD2. Will definately get it when is available. Temporary use the "iphone type" - I bought thro lelong.com - few types available ranging RM 15 to RM 48

the input, kinda sensitive sure would take sometime to master the pressure of input but you still can reduce the sensitivity. i've done that and its improve alot. less error.

I tried this tweak but do not see any difference ( or it is not noticeable to me, if any )

i didnt subscribe to any data plan...

i have already disable the data connection in the wireless control.

will the phone run on 3g itself when it needs data to refresh something ?

i have already disable the weather to download data by itself.

anything else would need to me disable if so that it wont download data by itself ?

thanks!!
*
NO it will not unless you have other programs installed that will auto update .

For example Some of the 3rd party programs that will do this are : SpB News, SpB Traveller, Omega 1 Calc, Currency Converters, Stock update programs . You will have to check all your installed programs and disable all the auto refresh functions

Added on November 30, 2009, 9:58 pmNow that I have got myself a htc HD2 - i wish to sell off my TP2 ; bought it 9 Oct 09. My unit is not local set, bought in Spore with receipt - is a imported T-Mobile unit ( very beautiful Gold/Brown color combination ) without front camera. PM me for details. Outlook is 10/10

Noticed the only way the SMS that's stuck in the outbox to be sent out is to send an SMS to another recipient.
*
You mean sending a new SMS ?? Do you still face this issue sending using my tips not to use the homescreen interface ??

can u post how does the stylus look like here?
*
It is just a simple straight metal rod with 2 soft end ( 10 cm long and about 0.5 cm diameter ) . For touch usage on the HD2 this is only my last resort to use for ONLY keyinput . Nothing beats the finger swiping/press for other purposes

how much for 2?  blink.gif

Is RM 48 - but after testing few hours - I give up ; it is more suitable for the iphone not for the HD2. You not only need press hard and sometimes few times to get the letters out . Highly NOT recommended

Anybody noticed in ROM version 1.48.707.2 HD2's (Malaysian spec), there's no NaviPanel included... mad.gif
*
NaviPanel works ONLY with CoPilot ; that's why it is not included. Some guys on the net are figuring to get it to work with at least Garmin ; if this materialise then we can download the solution

The cab file for Navipanel can find in XDA forum ; apparently someone got it to work with Mapking 2007. As no car kit holder yet available ( you need connect your HD2 to it to have it activated to work ) , even with the available cab files and solution ( work with Mapking or Garmin eventually ), now we can only see the development efforts.

Our Msian unit build you look at at the OS version: 5.2.21869

If you were to looked at coooked roms ( not available yet for HD2) ; the Microsoft Build has been develop to ver 21882 already and many cooked roms for the htc TP2 and HD the rom cooks has been working their roms based on this build already ( more than 2 weeks already leaked out )

The news that the Manila version has changed to 19220### is good as our Msian version Manila is 2.5.19211619.0. Maybe the updated Manila version will solve most of the SMS complaints sent oiut from Manila homescreen

Looking for a RSS reader, the stock RSS reader that came with the HD2 isn't that good as it doesn't download the images and only text.
*
SpB News v2.0 at US19.95 - is a good one ; I bought it to replace the RSS

Actually there are few options available for RSS - whether free or need to pay. Just download and test all and see which is more suitable.

Tweeter and RSS are my number ones usage on my phone, follow by email, browsing and others. These 2 are so important to me I buy the right software for it. Similarly I replace the half baked Tweeter builtin with Twikini ( which I bought since my htc HD days)

Have my eyes quite set on this beast. My question is regarding battery life. A lot are saying its good and a lot saying its bad but we donno how its being used.

I want to know the battery life with internet updates (facebook, twitter etc) turned on and with heavy internet browsing either wifi or 3g. Voice calls maybe 30 minutes.

Anyone?
*
I don't think anyone can give you a good and satisfying answer here. If you were to look thro the postings at forum.xda HD2 section, there are criticisms, praises and neutral opinions. Battery life is also compounded by other installed software which will affect it ( especially software with auto updates builtin , unless you disable it )

For me, the battery can reasonably last me a normal day use ( 7 am till 9 pm ) and that is according to my needs which is definately different from anyone else. My phone I used a lot on checking Tweeter updates ( I set auto every 30 mins), RSS news feed checking ( do that every 2 hours) , email - every hour check, browsing - not so much , maybe about an hour most use it , phonecalls /SMS ( total about 20 a day ) , ebook reading - average about an hour/day, and my weather update is set every 3 hours.

But I do notice if on the road while using GPS Garmin/or Mapking the battery drops fast but is not a issue as in car my unit is being charge while on the road

Very hard to get Micro USB, tried looking for it last weekend at Lowyat Plaza but no one seems to be carrying it. You can pay more and buy the transfer cable for Blackberry Storm though, it's basically the same. But quite costly, around 30-40 bucks
*

Added on December 5, 2009, 5:45 pmi bought mine at freshgear chup piau generic brand rm30. If you were to look for original HTC unit - it will costs you close to RM 60-80. Anyway generic types are usually good enough

Any previous iphone 3gs user bought the htc hd2? Need your advise compare this with iphone 3gs.

Check up www.mobilehornet.com for comparison ( Msian perspective ). I also have a iphone but since day one never like it ( maybe is me only ) as I need a more serious business phone. I find the iphone is more suitable for its multimedia ( esp if you download podcasts, audio books an need sync with iTunes ) and browsing functions

There is a never end debate which is better - I feel it boil down to personal needs

Is the red tint camera issue has been rectified?
*
YES ' the pinkish tinge no more there. Just run the exe file directly from your phone

SMS issue : NONE at all sofar except experienced it once only with one sms while in Spore ; subsequent SMS out from same spot was sent/recieved immediate. I have my HD2 since 26 Nov. Reading thro several forums on this issue it is not repetitive [ you have also users claimimg no such problems. Anyway a hotfix will be good. I have recommended in earlier post not to sent SMS directly from the homescreen - use All Messages/Menu/New etc - to have nore confidence ? However even without using this step I still have no such SMS issue
