Yes, calling Maybank CS can vomit blood. Last month I tried calling the 24 hours CS at 1800-88-1801 (behind my MBB Pet Plat Visa)and was put you on hold like forever.

However AMEX CS at 1800-88-9559, I am seldom put on hold except for yesterday at 6pm where I wanted to redeem points I was put on hold for maybe 3-5 minutes. Was told many people calling about the RM50 tax thingy and was told the tax will be charged on aniversary date and can use 10,000 points to offset it (not a good offer here as we can used the same points to redeem RM50 cash rebate).

It isn't a good deal as we can use less than 20000 MR points to redeem a RM100 gift voucher. xmas.gif

Anniversary date, what does that mean? The expiry month? (like if my card expires April 2014, then I'll get billed coming April?)

That sounds logical if it is confirmed that the service tax is charged according to card anniversary date. But if you apply for a new card, the service tax will be charged soon after the card is approved. wish.gif

There is no difference as it would only prolong your decision to cancel a card if your card's anniversary date falls in other months. If you have made up your mind, just make the termination immediately. xmas.gif

I decided to keep Amex Gold CC as my main card for now. As my yearly rebate earned can surely offset the RM50 tax...

Now I have more reasons to go cashless... tongue.gif

I hope out G will enforce all merchant must have CC terminals since they will charge us tax, they should do something to benefit CC users...
