It's expected this kinda cashback takes way too long to get credited.
Well, they did state in their T&C that the rebate will be credited to your account after the promotion ends.

Hmm.. just checking out on www.globaleshop.com... , I have register myself there but the website did not provide me any address..

Anyone mind to en light me how to purchase thingy from amazon ? smile.gif
If you only want to buy some books, CDs, DVDs or Blu-rays, then you can just place an order on their website and they can ship the items directly to your designated address. For all other items such as electronics, cosmetics etc., you will need globaleshop, vPost or Globeshop service as Amazon.com cannot ship these items outside United States.

CIMB Group Says RM50 Service Tax On Credit Card Little Disappointing

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8 (Bernama) -- CIMB Group says it has some reservation about the government's plan to put a RM50 service tax on credit card.

"We have some reservation because obviously we were hoping that the tax is not necessary because at the end of the day, the idea is to reduce the cash holdings and increase plastic and other forms of payments," its group chief executive Datuk Seri Nazir Razak said.

"This is something that we are little bit disappointed but of course, we have to comply," he told reporters here after a signing ceremony today for a RM50 million term loan facility from CIMB Bank Bhd and UBS AG to JCY HDD Technology Sdn Bhd.

To promote prudent spending, the government has proposed a RM50 service tax a year on each principal credit card and charge card and a RM25 service tax a year on each supplementary card effective January 1 next year.

Asked if it is possible for CIMB Bank to absorb the services tax, Nazir said "it is just a matter of economics."

The bank is hoping to achieve 1.2 million credit card holders by end of the year from the current 1.1 million customers.

Malaysian Rating Corporation Bhd (MARC) recently said that the service tax is unlikely to have an impact on the overall transaction value of cardholders over the medium term.

Cardholders are more likely to cancel extra cards to minimise their tax burden since the tax is proposed to be levied annually on a per card basis, it said.

MARC also believed that the proposed tax will result in an aversion to applying for multiple cards on the part of new applicants and thus the growth rate of issued credit card will lose momentum from the compounded annual growth rate of 13.2 per cent recorded over 2004-2008.

As for card issuers, currently comprising 21 banks and three non-bank financial institutions, this tax will have mixed effects depending on their existing market share and brand positioning, it added.

Damn it! This afternoon I wanted to buy RM800 Parkson vouchers using Amex in Sunway Pyramid but the staff at CS counter refused to sell vouchers to me and asked me to purchase vouchers after Christmas instead. What's the point! The total payout of RM4mil for the 15% cash back promotion could finish around Christmas time.
Any reason why he/she refused to sell you the vouchers now ? Or he/she "pandai-pandai" said out of stock or company's policy blah blah blah ?

Amex Plat cc looks cheaper and cheaper now.  shakehead.gif

When it was first launched, minimum annual income requirement was RM130,000 and first year AF was not waivable. Just a few months ago, Amex was willing to waive 2nd year AF and gave auto waiver for 1st year AF. And now, income requirement are lower to a mere RM60,000 per annum. doh.gif I guess it is because Amex Gold cc is too popular and has since outshined the Plat series. xmas.gif
The stupid tax doesn't help much either. Maybank is at an disadvantage here as they can't simply ditch the AMEX business.

thanks for your answer. reason i asked was becoz the receipt showed IKANO pte ltd, rather than IKEA. smile.gif

so if IKEA is considered part of Ikano Power Centre, then maybe I'm still in with a chance...haha
Only participating outlets in Ikano Power Centre i believe. So if you did not see the 15% promotional tag near the cashiers when checking out at IKEA, then it most likely means it is not a participating outlet.

btw AMEX 1 thing not good is cannot to update particular like citibank or other online banking did.
No. That won't be possible. You cannot pay for your AMEX using IBG.

You may only pay for your AMEX card from M2U or RHB online banking. You have to select bill payment.

yes, we can pay MBB AMEX as show in the HLB list
I stand corrected. Apparently we can now do IBG online via HLB.com and CIMBCLICKS.com because last time AMEX wasn't listed in the IBG list. However, CIMBCLICKS.com IBG only supports payment to Maybank AMEX credit card. IBG to AMEX charge card is still not possible.

By the way, i just checked my Public Bank and HSBC online banking accounts. Both now support IBG to Maybank AMEX and Hong Leong Bank AMEX too. However, HSBC stated that IBG to AMEX Charge Card is not allowed just like CIMBCLICKS.com.

Received a mailer frm MBB this morning:

1 bill = 2,000 TP
2 bills = 5,000 TP
3 or more  bill = 10,000 TP

not sure whether this is the correct thread to ask this..but i am just gona ask..

if i use amex card in a different country, how will the exchange rate be like? will it be the same as the currency u exchange manually? is the amex card exchange rate different than normal visa exchange rate when used in a different country?
The exchange rate will be determined by American Express. Please note that there will also be 1.5% - 2.5% of admin fee charged.

AMEX with Maybankard logo (include Maybank Islamic Ikhwan series) - 1.5%
AMEX charge card and credit card (all without Maybank logo) - 2.5%

No need call the CS to active it, just swap it.
It depends ... if he got it through courier service, most likely the card has not yet been activated. There should instructions inside the welcome package he received.

20 days free interest charges is start from the time i buy things,

Not quite so. It is called 20 days grace period. Let say your credit card statement date falls on the 5th of every month, the last day to pay is on 25th of every month in order to be slapped by late payment charge and interest.

QUOTE(litnit @ Jan 17 2010, 08:34 PM)
cash back...etc.

200 Membership Rewards Points accumulated can be exchanged for RM1.

Alternatively, you can browse through the online catalogue to redeem any gifts or shopping vouchers using the Membership Rewards Points you have. Membership Rewards Points do not expire. So it is valid as long as your card is still active.

QUOTE(litnit @ Jan 17 2010, 08:34 PM)
even how to pay back I also not so sure. I guess can direct bank in to maybank.
If you have a checking account, you can simply write a cheque and just deposit it into any Maybank cheque deposit machine nationwide.

Sorry. Have never done the calculation sweat.gif

So how do i know my credit card statement date?
thanks..
When you receive you first credit card bill. Otherwise, you can check with AMEX. But if it is a Gold AMEX credit card (without any Maybank logo), there will be no printed statement. But you can check the card's outstanding on M2U (if you have a Maybank account).

QUOTE(litnit @ Jan 17 2010, 10:16 PM)
I also got another Maybank sony visa card, will this card charge me for another credit card tax? Can i cancel it?
Yes. You will be charged another RM50. You can cancel it before the anniversary month to avoid the tax. But if you just received the card and the expiry date is on January, you will need to pay for the RM50 even if you cancel now.

I no longer have a Maybank account. Others will guide you through.

QUOTE(litnit @ Jan 17 2010, 11:05 PM)
I just call for the cancellation. so they will still do charge me??

Depends on the month. Check your card and see when is the expiry date. If it is written something like 12/14, then no. You won't be charged a cent. But if it is written something like 1/14, it means the anniversary month is January and you will be charged RM50 even if you cancel now.

QUOTE(litnit @ Jan 17 2010, 11:05 PM)
i wondering should i sign on the letter of my new card and return it? but is that have to walk in to counter?
You can mail the acknowledgement slip back to them or just a call to their credit card centre will do.

If the expiry date is written as 1/xxxx, i am very sure you will see RM50 in your next bill. All the banks have released a statement that all new cards will be charged right away.
