Your rebate will be maxed out at RM 150 per card. If you spend those amount in this month, it'll start to appear in 1 February 2011.

You definitely didn't not read the T&C before planning for your shopping to maximize the 15% cash back.

If both cards are registered under the same user, you will only get RM150 cash back only. Nevertheless, you will get 2x points, still better than other cards giving only 1x point.

Your AMEX Charge Gold is since 1988? Yours is normal Gold Charge or Gold Charter?
*
Mine normal Gold Card since 88 , got it in USA while still in school and transferred account to here when I came back in 1991. Back then many people were impressed that I was holding an AMEX Gold Card for a young boy. Now I old man and nobody cares if I got what cards I have as long as transaction can go thru. What is Gold Charter? I want the Black Card cry.gif

Well, you can't be that busy since you are able to post here tongue.gif Since you do spend a lot, recommend that you find the time next year sometime in March to check with AMEX if they are still offering Turbo Points and if yes enroll in it and earn 3X points minimum for charged card and get 1.5% equivalent cash back for any transactions.

I can imagine. Back in the early 90s having the Amex Gold Charge Card is really something especially for a young boy. You're right what matters is the transaction can go through. That counts at the end of the day. I had quite an unpleasant experience recently.

I just got my Plat charge card. So I'm keen to create my spending and payment pattern so it's easier for them to approve in the future. I charged a watch close to 100k to the card and the merchant's terminal says REFERRAL. PLEASE CALL ISSUER FOR APPROVAL CODE. I called amex and they said they can't approve such a big amount for a new card. What nonsense! After giving them a piece of my mind, they supported the transaction and the merchant had to swipe again. This time it went through thankfully!

Gold Charter is a level above Gold and below Platinum. Normally it's granted to Gold Charge member whose tenure is more than fifteen years..

As it is a new charge card, Amex will study your spending pattern first. I am sure next time there should not be any problem for you to swipe your Amex Platinum Charge Card for an amount of more than RM100,000 in a single receipt.

I really hope so. I still remember when amex wanted me to get the card, they were boasting about about the "No Pre Set Spending Limit".

Next time you swipe RM100K no more problems after you clear the above mentioned transaction of course. Since you charge so much, better enroll in Turbo points and get another 0.5% cash rebate. However Turbo Points Program expire every March and this year MBB took sometime to consider exteding the program. Check with CS.

Another thing, you should get DA WMC and do balance transfer and earn some interest in FD. With that amount, can earn couple thosands by just faxing in. Yes, DA allows BT from AMEX Charge Card thumbup.gif

Don't know about Gold Charter but they waive my annual fees without any questions yearly. I have previously swipe up to RM50K no problems and was looking for a new car a month back. To avoid embarassement, I called CS to asked if I could use my card to pay for a new car costing >RM300K, CS told me my CL not so high cry.gif But then again Auto Bavaria won't allow paying by card that much anyway but DRB willing if I got the Honda Elysion (this model not selling well) but ended up not buying both but another make Jap MPV.

Thanks for sharing Gen-X. I enrolled myself in the Turbo points but CS said it takes a week to process the enrollment. My guess is the watch purchase will not earn me 3x. What do you think?

Can you please explain further about DA BT. To be frank, I've never done BT before. So, I don't know how the mechanism and rates work. I hope you don't mind to enlighten me.

Well, keep your fingers cross and hope they give you the extra 100K MR.

You can goto BT thread for more info. As for the rates, its 0% interest with no upfront or whatever fees, the only cost you inccur is your time and few sens for fax and telephone calls. Anyway here's the link to my blog http://creditcardsmalaysia.blogspot.com/ or click here to go directly to latest BT post.

Amex claimed that customers will be notified when the monthly quota has been hit. I doubt Amex will do so. To play safe, I stop using Amex until 31/12/2010.

It's so frustrating that some outlets in Sunway Pyramid do not accept Amex. I ended up using my MasterCard to make the payment.
