Did all of you realize that American Express has lowered it's minimum income requirement for its Amex Platinum Credit Card from RM 130k per annum to a mere RM 60k per annum? That's such an insult to existing cardmembers don't you think? A meagre RM 5k a month and you can have one of these so-called prestigious and exclusive cards? http://www.americanexpress.com.my/amx_info...CB-CardBenefitsThis post has been edited by rockefeller: Dec 20 2009, 05:11 PM

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Dec 20 2009, 06:07 PM) The stupid tax doesn't help much either. Maybank is at an disadvantage here as they can't simply ditch the AMEX business. Agreed. Looks like they are getting desperate to maintain their marketshare too.

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jan 16 2010, 07:13 PM) @winner, Sime Darby allows it; I'm pretty sure cause I swiped it on my Visa just 2 wks ago. SDB (Selangor Dredging Berhad) on the other hand only allows the RM20k booking fees to be paid via CC; the rest needs to be paid up via cheque *siGh* i would be more than happy to swipe 20k on my credit card *thinking about the points i would accumulate*

QUOTE(Alec.Yong @ Oct 4 2010, 06:02 PM) I just notice that my Amex MR points become 1,440,876 , previously was around 454,856. Even the 10x promotional point has released, but I don't think I can get much points as this. Could this be the system error? If I were you, i'd quickly redeem something while it's still there! Added on October 5, 2010, 11:30 pmQUOTE(yewjin @ Oct 1 2010, 09:33 AM) Hi anyone managed to get their American Express Platinum CC annual fees waived for the 2nd year? If you have how did you do it? Any advise appreciated. Thanks. Yes, i got my Relationship Banker at PBC to put up the request. This post has been edited by rockefeller: Oct 5 2010, 11:30 PM

Can someone please confirm whether Parkson is still American Express Platinum Partner for 10x MR? I see two contradicting 10x Platinum Partner lists on maybank website and american express malaysia website.
Which one is the latest?

the funniest thing happened.
i'm currently holding amex platinum card. i went to wardrobe to have my suits tailormade. been their regular for quite awhile. i told the ceo he made the right choice by being amex's 10x platinum partner and that had made me come back for more.
he said yes thanks though they have stopped that arrangement with amex almost a year ago. and till today i am still getting the 10x points whenever i charge my card at wardrobe!
LUCKY ME.

QUOTE(guanteik @ Nov 28 2010, 08:57 PM) @rockefeller AMEX Platinum Charge Card is by invitation only. Yes I know but after one expresses one's interest, they will send you the invitation pack and it states minimum income requirement is RM 190,000 (used to be RM 300,000 when it was introduced in malaysia in 1999). However, although the income requirement is not that high, unlike other premium credit cards like world mastercard or visa infinite, strong bank statement is a must when applying for amex platinum charge card. they don't only require payslips and BE form but also a VERY strong bank statements. six figure minimum FD certs will be considered too. Failing to produce which, they will offer you the Gold charge card.

Anyone have any idea why?

QUOTE(ben83 @ Dec 19 2010, 10:23 PM) I was offered a pre-approved Plat charged card but the card officer mentioned that the hefty annual fee is not waiveable but will be given free 200k MR points. The officer also kept saying it is a very prestigious card & so forth. I already have the Plat cc, so is it a bargain to accept it? Definitely. I took the offer and just got my card! Who offered you pre approved? 200,000 MR points is like one way ticket to London on MAS! This post has been edited by rockefeller: Dec 19 2010, 10:33 PM

QUOTE(ben83 @ Dec 19 2010, 10:59 PM) Another catch is, the annual fee has to be charged upfront in order to get the 200k MR points. Still in a dilemma that's right but it's justified with with the 200,000 bonues MR points.

CIMB DA- 2% instant petrol rebate on bill AMex - 10000 points can redeem RM50 cash means 2.5% on petrol rebate Amex cash rebate will take a long time to redeem? Any method can waive the RM50 GST? Hope can advise me, first of all, what amex card? Added on December 19, 2010, 11:15 pmQUOTE(teoanne @ Dec 19 2010, 11:14 PM) how much is the annual fee anyway? QUOTE(Gen-X @ Dec 20 2010, 12:01 AM) 200K points is equivalent to RM1000 based on redemption of 200MR = RM1. You still got to fork out RM1K+ for the annual fees. still a bargain rather than only 100k MR points for the same amount of annual fee previously! think of it this way, do you really use the services and privileges of the plat charge card? if you don't, then don't bother.
