Realtek's RTD1073 and RTD1283 chipsets were used in many inexpensive media players last year, and they're being used this year as well. The RTD1073 can play back media content, and the RTD1283 adds encoding support to this. Realtek wasn't showing off any new chipsets at its booth, but we did manage to come away with some information. The 500 MHz RTD1185 will replace the RTD1283 in media players with encoding functionality (along with digital tuners). The RTD1073 will be replaced by a 500 MHz RTD1085, which internally supports gigabit Ethernet, SATA, and PCIe. Realtek also has a new value-oriented controller called RTD1055, without network support. Realtek talks about offering the most complete audio/video format support with its new chipsets, including all popular HD codecs. We'll need to wait for the next generation high-def media players to emerge toward the end of 2010. Hopefully, they'll support the latest HD audio formats (Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio), which are not supported by the RTD1073/RTD1283). |

Dear All, TViX model M6600N already can support HD Audio Pass thru
The M6600’s last firmware was 1.9.9 (official release) and we’re about to release the new beta firmware Rev 2.0.3A3 publicly. This beta version will be available on our web-site within today. This firmware is applied to all 6600 series (6600A/N, 6620N, 6640N, 6600N+, 6620N PVR DUO, 6631N and 6632N) The newly added functions over Rev 2.0.x are marked as blue color. The major differences from last version (1.9.9) are supporting HD-audio for 6600+, user configurable main UI and Web-Remote™ 2nd version. You can make your own main screen, including background and icons. This revision also contains many changes including APE, native frame-rate, etc. The upgrade procedure takes less than a single minute. If the firmware upgrade fails, please do the SAFE-UPGRADE. Release Notes for Rev 2.0.3A3 since Rev 1.9.9 (last official firmware). [Changes] [Multimedia Player/ System] 1. Supports the configurable user-interface. • User can change main user interface (background image, icons) and screen saver. • Store the “tvix_bg.jpg” (for background image), “tvix_movie.png” (for movie icon), “tvix_music.png”(for music icon), “tvix_photo.png”(for photo icon), “tvix_hdtv.png” (for hdtv icon), “tvix_reclist.png” (for record list icon), “tvix_ims.png” (for internet service), “tvix_setup.png” (for setup) on the root folder of internal HDD. • The tvix_bg.jpg should be 1280x720 JPEG format. The recommended size of each icon is 362x404 (either PNG or JPG format.) If you want to use alpha blending on icon file, the ARGB should be ARGB(0, 8, 8, 16) format. • Store the “tvix_ss.jpg” for screen saver image. The size is 160x160. • You can also change the text image just below each icon. Please refer to the usage link below for detail. • http://www.tvix.co.kr/ENG/faq/default.aspx...erial=38&id=414 2. Supports the HD-audio pass-thru. (for 6600+, 6620DUO, 6640DUO ) • Supports the Dolby True-HD pass-thru. 3. Supports the Web-Remote 2nd version. • Supports the automatic detection of iPhone, iPad, Android phone and notebook PC, and adjust the resolution accordingly. • Supports the “Control” button which enables popping-up of same buttons as actual remote. So you can do anything with Web-Remote just like actual remote. • Supports HDTV/ PHOTO main user interface. • For changes and new usage please refer to ftp://ftp.dvico.com/Manual/TViX/etc/Web_Remote_Eng.pdf 4. Supports the APE/ CUE music file format. • Supports the lossless APE music format. • Supports the CUE playlist file as well. 5. Supports the “Native Frame Rate”. • Supports original frame rate of each file. (60i, 50i, 24p, 25p, 50i, 50p, 60p) • You can configure the behavior of each frame-rate. • This mode is only available when screen resolution is 1080p50Hz or 1080p60Hz. • The “native resolution” (e.g. 480p24Hz 480p24Hz) is not supported at this moment • To enable this Setup > AV > Video Auto Switch > Native framerate 6. Supports the enforcement of audio pass-thru. • This option can be turned on at Setup > AV > Audio & Video > Force audio pass-thru • If you turn on this option then you set “RAW” digital audio pass-thru mode, the actual raw digital audio format will be output regardless of EDID information of TV. • This will enable raw digital bit-stream output when you connect TVIX like TVIX > HDMI port > TV > optical/coaxial cable > AV receiver. • Some TV cannot pass-thru Dolby Digital or DTS properly. Please check your TV first.7. Supports the OSD on/off. • You can turn off the OSD for using TVIX as commercial playback machine. 8. Supports the slow fast forward. • After “pause”, press right button to enable 1/16x > 1/8x > 1/4x > 1/2 > 3/4x slow forward in turn. 9. Supports the subtitle text encoding regardless of menu language. • You can select text encoding after popping-up subtitle window then “left” button (can see small triangular button on left side) • You can also configure it at Setup > System > Language > Text encoding 10. Supports the subtitle “OFF” status. • If you turn off the subtitle, then the status will be saved and be applied next time you boot-up. 11. Changes the default main user interface to brighter color combination. 12. Supports the 16:10 aspect ratio. 13. Supports the Polish and Portuguese menu language. 14. Fix the problem of some idx+sub subtitle. 15. Changes the Hebrew font for better looking of system menu. [HDTV/ PVR] 1. Improves the EPG user interface. 2. Configurable channel up/down key behavior. • You can select “favorite channel up/down” on setup menu 3. The “Info” window will disappear automatically. 4. Fixes the in-accurate CUT-IN/ CUT-OUT point when editing the recorded stream. • Also fixes the padding problem (2 files created) 5. Fixes the recording problem when special character is inserted at channel name. 6. Fixes the Hebrew EPG problem. [Network] 1. Improves IMS (Internet Media Service) functions quite a bit • Rearranges overall icons and services. • Improves “WEATHER” gadget. (Supports multi-national language and adds “favorite” location. So you can save your location for checking weather.) • Pressing RIGHT button on You-Tube list will show the thumb-nail preview. • Supports PLAY/PAUSE of You-Tube. • Adds “Internet TV” service. • You can download movie files on some service. 1. For example, go to IMS > Internet channel > HD net , then press “RIGHT” button on wanted movie clip. 2. Select “download” button, then the clip will be stored on /Movie folder. 2. Improves the network setup procedure • Setup wizard will appear to ease the network setup • Support the manual designation of hidden SSID. Click the “unknown” SSID at AP browser windows and input the name. • Support both “OPEN” and “SHARED” network keys. • Will memorize previous NETWORK KEY up to 4 APs (access points). You don’t have to re-input the NETWORK KEY during the setup procedure, if you done it once before. 3. Supports Ralink RT307x chipset Wi-Fi module • Supports both WEP/ WPA configuration. • Shows very good sustained performance (1080p streaming is O.K.) • It will take about 30 seconds for initial setup of Ralink module. • Most of the current 11n Wi-Fi dongles are RT307x based. Please let us know the USB VID/PID for adding your own RT307x based 11n Wi-Fi dongle. Best regards & many thanks, |

Hi All,
I wanna ask you guys if you are aware about Xtreamer player. One sales guy told me that there is a new Xtreamer(with Sidewinder attached) and it comes with Realtek RTD 1283 DD+ Chipset. He also mentioned that this new unit is actually shipping together with Xtreamer Pro and for sure it has 1283 DD+ chipset. Is there any way to confirm that guy's statement? AFAIK, for A.C.Ryan, you can locate the serial number with "+" sign. |

Just Got myself an RCA E30T (1073 Realtek) player (also own HDX1080)
One thing that separates this player from others is Capability to Decode 5.1 AC3/DTS internally without downmixing it to stereo as typically done. I need to further test this machine if it could output analog 5.1 LPCM (decoded internally from DDtrueHD, DTS-MA, DTS HD tracks) This means that owner of 5.1, 7.1 multimedia speakers (Gigaworks S750, Megaworks, Klipsh PM5.1, Edifier 5.1) can benefit this feature if one does not own a separate AVR. Means cheap setup for multichannel output can be achieved. BD.ISO files is also playable (not sure fully or not..wait for further testing) And if you guys owns a 16:10 (1920 x 1200) monitor like me, this player also capable of deliver 16:9 aspect ratio to it so stretching is avoided.
