Have order a new Realtek RTD1186 by HiMedia


Since there is so many Realtek based player in the market now, we should have a discussion on this type of player without offending their respective "Brand" owner in their own forums. So for a start this are the popular Realtek 1073 chipset players that I know of:

Added on October 10, 2009, 7:22 pmWell, as the TS, my point of view is that those "Brands" that come out with regular updates internationally should be included, those one off kind of player without international following would not last long in this dog eat dog world "media player market"! Also, Egreat Player just out after the China holidays & the HD300A only out on the 16th Oct so that's why it's not included. I don't believed in "Vapor" ware but I do sell them!

FR for the HD300A is already out because apart from the casing, even the firmware is same as the HD300D. That's why I decided to do a bulk on it without testing a physical unit.

I mean the Realtek 1073 chip

Only non branded OEM Wifi Dongles have this chipset & you might get stuck in custom. Sirim approval will cost you a bomb & lot's of hassle. On top of that maximum only can stream 720p so you figure it out!

Xtreamer still comes with free usb wifi.

It says will play so not playing now! Xtreamer beta firmware supposed to play BDISO. As for the comparisons it's mostly fanboys "singing" their praise!

My Egreat 34H? I don't have any lah? You mean yours? You should try the realtek based unit, even the most complex BDISO also pass with flying colors. So far only Transformers have problem with the audio. Main english audio cannot decode so you have to watch in Spanish or some other language!

All audio & subtitles also can read, just cannot decode Dolby TrueHD. I double check the audio format in PC. DTS-HD & MA only can downmix to stereo.

Read here http://www.acryan.com/forums/viewtopic.php...t=2342&start=40, it's a Realtek versus Dolby license issue! Hopefully will get solve like the old Sigma 8635 DTS downmix issue. But that was way too longgggg!

At least the remote looks decent. Went to Low Yat Plaza & saw the Asus Oplay & it's in chaep plastics casing & remote is a tiny weeny one like the WDTV. Only redemption is the E-sata port.

From picture also you can see quality? So kheng? What if they photoshoped it to look impressive?

Found a Taiwanese manufacturer but MOQ is 100pcs! Any takers? Less than RM60 landed price if can clear custom.

Hisense is not expensive if you compare with local pricing of AC, Asus & Xtreamer.
