Hi all, my SAL1870 when turn to MF, I rotate it to infinity focus(AKA the maximum turn), the focus seems not correct, I need to rotate back abit in order to get the correct focus. Noticed this since I own my camera and I thought it is normal. So, is this a problem? Should I send to Sony centre for calibrating the lens focusing?

there are some happy owner of octopus, they quote is better, idk, but material for a price, definately sony's has higher quality, summore the big round screw thingie is noticable in the front on phottix and octopus, while sony one nicely stealth it in front smile.gif (i assume u know bout the auto change battery, so i skip it) that the worth/value of paying extra 400 =.=|||

Kul | Mo0: Was the STF on a FF body? biggrin.gif

5564321: It is normal for some lenses to focus past infinity - this is to accomodate for heat expansion (and possibly, focus shift when changing focal length - some lenses change focus distance slightly when zooming in or out.)

They are both from the same factory in China, OEM under different brands.... the price and design is the same, so the material and build quality should be the same.... check them side by side if u have the chance...

The feeling is entirely up to u to try.... obviously the Sony has the best feel, but the 3rd party grips are ok too. I am a portrait alignment fan, so most of my shots are held via the 3rd party grip...

I am using another brand called Taylor (or something lydat), which is the brand before Phottix and Octopus, but from same factory.... and yes, i saved the RM400 to get meself a 50mm prime....

It seems that there are only Octopus(es) 3rd party grip for Sony A200/300/350 for now.... those Phottix branded ones may be of older stocks....

As said by several ppl... there are no diff between Phottix and Octupus except for the brand on the stickers... the look, design and materials are the same....

if retouch the colour of her shoulder so that it is closer to the face and hand, then it might look even more realitstic

i never really change the color...the color diff btwn face n shoulder was there in the orig shot probably due to the flash light...just that after adjusted the contrast n brightness the face is a lil bit too fair..hahaha...

Achew.. i suggest u try to use a layer mask..

Duplicate the original photo.. Give it the Smartblur (watever technique u r using)... then apply Layer Mask to the layer... Invert it...

Now use Brush to so that u can just apply to the face.. and for the hair & the eyes.. u will remain its detail.
