The price for facelift model hike a lots. but with minor upgrade only.
1.5J Auto added power wing mirror, and driver airbag. (A good add in)
1.5E Seat change to dark grey, added passenger airbags.
1.5G added door visor, leather seat, and some chrome package to the interior only. (why don add in optitron meter)
1.5 Sportivo no much change.

If that so i think the E spec is more a worthy buy. A vios with 2 airbags should meet most buyer's demands. The G spec is the most not worthy. But the J spec, i think they should not add the airbag as it jumped up the price.

The E spec will able to counter the new city, naza forte and the upcoming mazda 2.

hi guys,

just wanna share my experience and hear your comments.

booked vios G in early january, bronze mica. SA said confirmed will get before CNY. 2 weeks ago, he told us that car arriving 8-9th feb.

yesterday, around 3-4pm, he called and said, due to the facelift, umw stopped production for the current vios. there is no stock for bronze. there is one medium silver.

he give 2 options:-

1) take the medium silver immediately
2) wait until march to get a bronze mica

i find it unacceptable to be told about this so last minute, when we are expecting the new car to be used during CNY. the order was done more than a month ago.

what do you think?

I would take the medium silver indeed. It looks not bad and u can have a new car during CNY. Also, try ask for more discounts since this is an old stock tongue.gif

their Air-cond service u can just skip it... give it to denso glenmarie better or let outside ppl to do it... coz UMW Toyota never have Wheels and Air-cond departments... they sub-out the servicing for alignment, balancing and air-cond services...

not only Vios all VVT-i or DVVT (P2) engine uses Timing Chain (which replace Timing Belt) so there is another belt visible to all which connect the Air-cond compressor and alternator... that is the V Belt which SC charge u for around RM200++ for changing it... they change mine after i complain that there is some clicking sound from the engine if i press the accelerator slightly only... so after some checking they change the V Belt and now no more sound... as for timing chain we have comsulted toyota and they said it shuld last the life of the engine... if some mechanics that ask u to chnge timing chain then becareful... coz i heard from some mechanics it is required to changed after 100k km... but until now my Vios still service at SC now around 87k km only after almost 5 years...

There's a sign of cracking on the belt & some screeching sound in the morning or when u accelerate.
It cost less than RM100 in normal workshop. If not mistaken there's 2 similar belts.

all, thanks for the opinion. don't want to take medium silver cos...looks normal. not many bronze mica on the road ma. another thing is, if they ask us to choose colour preference, then fulfill it! else why bother? i'm not gonna bend over just because you want to clear your stock.

michael, i didn't know that there is a confirmation slip with engine and chassis number. first time buy car, no experience.

oh well, it's already thursday anyway. not going to get the car for cny since registration and insurance also takes time. on the bright side, start the tiger year with a dugong. but then the plate is WTK. now already WTN. no new car feel already. see got kena 4d/toto/dmc or not. haha...

Toyota system is when u order u can have the confirmed coz chasis or engine no from Thailand within 2 weeks if not mistaken... if stock ready different case... i think the SA never do it for you... thats y i ask u to try to complaint to HQ and see... which Showroom u go to??? Franchise shop or own by UMW themselves...

@eddiewsk, check for you in a while or during lunch time... u are lucky coz i drive Vios today... smile.gif

yes there are 2 belt for vios 2003 ~ 2006 , 1 is for water pump & Alternator & aircon another is for power steering. if u buy from spare parts store it cost about less RM50 per belt (cant remember which belt) labour install about rm20...

for 2007~ now it use only 1 belt water pump & Alternator & aircon.

Is Vios engine & chassis manufactured from Thailand plant and assemble in UMW Shah Alam ?

I always thought only the engine made in Thailand and chassis & body from UMW Shah Alam.
