QUOTE(xenothrix @ Jan 11 2010, 03:42 PM) do hope to check with other J owners. Talked to SC again and this time the information they give is the tyre design spec doesn't match vios J. i still couldnt get written log to persue this complaint. they promise to replace in 1 or 2 weeks time, which i m yet to get confirmation. i wouldnt bother sending for outside alignment or balancing as this would give them an excuse that i tempered ther car setup n thus voiding my warranty. for some lucky ones where their GY GT3 are doing fine, i guess ours could b a bad batch of tyres, which UMW seems to b covering up. i m not happy with their decision to not releasing this important piece of info. Lifes are on their hands. my J registered end Oct 2009. Manufactured date should b aug/sept 2009. how about urs? edit: for those affected, the tyre hv a tendency to skid at wet road. pls b informed. does this also implies on my vios E?. cuz im using GY GT3 tyres also.... next month i'll go for 2nd 5000km service, what should i say bout the tyre?

look and observe ur tire wear rate... is it even overall the tire width or not... it the shoulder wear is much more than the inner ones, means there might be a problem there... for me it is the car alignment is not properly done b4 they handle over the car and they will get resposible for that... but after 5000km u cannot say anything on that already coz as an onwer u have to monitor is there any unusual wear rate on ur tires or not... i think the best is check the alignment of ur car urself at outside, again this will not void your warranty as this is a very normal stuff to let outside tire shop to check... u give Toyota SC also no use their alignment and wheels services also is sub-out contract... so why not do urself... if you say must do everything at the SC during the warranty period u means all those who changed RIMs, Tires, lights... blah blah blah... cannot have warranty lo... again it will not void ur warranty if you change ur tire or do wheels balancing and alignment outside... i claimed my rear set of adsorber b4 my warrnaty ends... so did Toyota reject my claim??? no...

QUOTE(michael9413 @ Jan 11 2010, 04:19 PM) that thinking is not correct... u do own alignment does not tempered ur warranty as u only wan to do alignment... i did checked once... my Vios is out by 3 degress... and we had a complaint with a free alignment from the SC around 1 months ago... that time was driven by my mum... u think la... how can it run out by 3 degree after only 1 month some more driven by auntie at average around 60~80 km/h only (at Ipoh)... that is very subjective... tires GT3 sucks maximum... tat tire can throw away if you wanna have more safety... change it to XM1, or others with better traction will help u... it is like ur shoe... my NCT5 with my Vios '05 left 40% trade in already, another left 50% come with my 2nd hand rim on my SEG same case... GY low end tires really is a big disappointment... thanks for ur input. which model of vios r u driving currently? i think wat ur trying to say is check alignment since u mention u get free alignment adjustment from SC. that i understand wouldnt void the warranty. agree with ur view regarding the warranty. i just get too skeptical with the fellas in SC.

I'm driving Vios '05... G Spec with 185/55 R15 NCT5 on stock... on the alignment, balancing and Tires i prefer to go to do it outside... i realise it wear the outer thread (left front tire) when i go back to have a look then when my dad took it for 5000km service he voice out about it... then they check and found that alignment is out and do it for us, but when my dad went to take the car he found out that the alignment charges is there and is insisted not his fault after that SC Advisor cannot make a decision on the FOC on alignment so he called his fren (tat time working as in Toyota HQ as manager) so he called the center and talk to the manager... the manager come out and sign to void the charges... but after 1 month i still find that it is still wearing the outer thread more so i bring to a shop and check and he printed out the report to me and it shows that it is out by 3degree... since like tat i do rotation and also alignment, balancing together outside problem fixed... the tire were used until 30k km when i change it (around 60% used)... coz my parents use it the thread wear was very low, but the traction in wet is very poor when i drive it, so we changed it...

i think u need to go to SC lo... cos it might has immobilisers built in already... my Key still without integrated ones but i think facelift version of old gen Vios has it already... so u need to go back to SC... i'm not sure whether there is any Cobra Authorise Reseller here with key and immobilisers duplicator... 2ndly i try to duplicate my remote outside (old Toyota with Cobra alarm) the remote sensitivity is not that good cos cobra if using different type of pulse frequency, others cheaper alarm use continuous frequency... so the duplicator is having a hard time to get the actual frequency...

@@ so expensive
ya on the other hand, i was thinking is there something like 'full body check' for car to diagnose my car is 'healthy' or not? Everytime i send my car to service only do change oil, change oil filter, tyre alignment and balancing.

Everytime i send my car to service only do change oil, change oil filter, tyre alignment and balancing. if you normally send to Toyota SC they will do it for you... they have requirement to check certain points and certain parts they will adjust for you when needed FOC... they will call you if any of the parts are recommended to change so hassle free when u go to SC but what u need is to pay the so call premium price for it... my Vios '05 still service within SC and also my mum's Avanza... *for tire alignment and balancing better leave it to outside as they are giving ppl outside to do also... FYI full set of cobra alarm also not cheap... if not mistaken Vios is around RM2k for full set alarm replacement with keys... my Vios got stolen and recover b4 we claim the insurance total up around RM7k++ full set lock and alarm replacement, repaint minor scratch and dented body parts, repair & repaint the back door (coz police force open the door) and some minor stuff only...

err... again depends on individual... try it urself at the showroom better... some said hard, some ok... wait until u ride on a CT with PP2 on it going thru a bumpy road, then u know wat is buttock pain... haha... my x-coll complaints that her husband Civic's ride with michelin PP is harsh... so 'Sampan' Vios or Stiffer CT ur choice

It makes my back sore, not to say even my manager feels the same cuz at first i tot it was just me and my picky buttocks. Sitting on the front seats are very comfy though even for long hours journey. To clear my doubts i went over to Toyota Glenmarie to personally test drive and sit on the rear seats while my fren test. The seats are still upright straight, no changes whatsoever was done. It would be great if there are more padding there. Asked the SA, and he admits its abit straight and immediately offered package to rewrap the seats with leather and extra padding.
