QUOTE(Kasumie @ Feb 22 2010, 02:37 PM) I have a question too.. so if i keep on using Semi syn shud be ok right?? coz i had my first service with semi.. the 2nd and following service shud i change to mineral or anything else?? thanks well as you like... i mostly recommend ppl to use the Ful Fyn since u only need to service it once in every 10k... so no need to go back SC every month... my fren did that and he finally change to Full-Syn at 10k service... he say troublesome, since he do about 3~4k km per month... now 10k can last him about 3~4 months compare to 1~2 months last time... |

QUOTE(thken @ Feb 22 2010, 02:20 PM) 1 full tank about RM65 with around 80% city drive can last you around 400~450km... highway drive from Subang to Ipoh with smooth driving around 1/4 tank and 1 full tank can take u thru and flow from JB to KL (all the way highway)... my fren done 600km b4 with 60% city and 40% highway with very light right footed, so depends... for me mostly can get 13~15sen/km or 12~15km/l kua... Added on February 22, 2010, 2:57 pm QUOTE(jameslee84 @ Feb 22 2010, 02:50 PM) erm... not really understand about: bro the tire profile does give you some pro and cons... lower profile tires (less rubber on the side wall) means lesser flex on the tire during cornering so it gives you better control on ur car's body roll, but it will be a but bumpy lo when you go thru some bumpy road... higher profile tires will give you a lil more comfort coz the side wall of the tires is higher... so it helps to absorbs the bumpiness on the road... but it depends on ur ride suspension and also tire side wall hardness also... 15" give you more comfort while not bad on handling, but 16"/17" will be better in handling but suffer on comfort? 15 mean comfort n gud handling? but 16 will suffer on comfort? why? @.@ btw i think i only will go for 16, getting japan rim.. btw thx for advise~~ ^^ tell us what you do wan with ur ride??? comfort or handling??? then ur budget on tires... coz 16" or 17" tires 1 round change will cost you more than RM1000 for good tires... i always tell ppl work between ur budget not as if you buy cheap tires it will risk ur own life... the viscosity of the engine oil is the different... er... 10-40 give you lighter revs and 20-50 give you heavier revs... if not mistaken 5-40 is the Full Syn grade that UMW use for Vios... Oil Filter change every engine oil change...

if you still wan to retain the comfort try out 195/55 R15 tires with a 15" rim... 16" is a bit low profile already since you did not want to sacrifice the comfort too much...
try out Michelin PP2 for better handling cos it's side wall slightly harder than others... with ur Vios suspension i think it works well... if u dare not to gamble the comfortness try to Toyo T1R or DRB... but this tire will be a lil noisier compare to PP2 coz it is directional, in general Directional Tires tends to be noisier than Non-Directional Tires... Comfort - Yokohama C Drive, Michelin Primacy LC, Falken 912 (all Asymmetric) Performance with Comfort - Hankook V12, Toyo T1R, Toyo DRB (all Directional) Michelin PP2, BS Adrenalin RE-001 (all Asymmetric) *but both PP2 and RE-001 have harder side wall, for me Vios ride a bit soft so this 2 might give suits u... and i used 3 sets of PP2 b4 from 185/55 R15 & 195/55 R15 skip Continental CC-1, BS MY-01, GY NCT5/Excellence/Assurance also... these tires should cost you less than RM1100 (4 pcs) if you change ur rims and tire together... u might have another 400 to play around coz u trade in ur rims and tires, hence ur rim & tire budget should be around RM2400 kua... |

16" is a lil oversize for you my fren... cos 205/45 R16 might not give you the comfort u want... but 205/50 R16 is a lil over size for you... so 15" with 195/55 R15 PP2 is nice bet for you...
looks like you are undecided also comfort and handling... u cannot get both in 1 time... so my advice is 195/55 R15 this will not give you hard burden on the shoulder for next change and further more it does not hurt the original comfortness too much with a lil increase of handling response... coz 16" tires will not be cheap more than RM1000... remember members, Cheap tire does not have the quality of expensive tires... treat tire as ur shoe and it is helping to ur 1.1 tonne monster to grip on the road with the combination of contact patch about 3 A4 size paper only, so once it skid in the wet it throw the 1.1 tonne monster uncontrollable and during high speed it might kills... |

QUOTE(jameslee84 @ Feb 22 2010, 05:12 PM) ya, i havent decide yet... coz i doesnt noe wats the feeling... erm maybe i try find some fren car which using 16" to try see ^^ PP2 is ur choice... FYI u cant try other cars than Vios (same gen with urs)... that should give you the approximate feeling if you try Honda sure out already because it's own suspension setup is harder than Toyota already... i noe tires ar important... tat y i looking advise from u... specially wet drive.. very scary... coz had those experience b4... car spining on highway juz coz of water on the road... but lucky no bang.. for your Vios 2nd Gen i still recommend 195/55 R15... 16" is no for ppl which prefer to has comfort ride... for easy reference all 50 and below is not comfort tire, all 60 series and above is comfort tire, 55 series is some what in between so u can get comfort with performance tire... |

QUOTE(McRyan @ Feb 22 2010, 10:34 PM) means if you use to use 20W-50 it is not recommend change back to Full Syn after some time... in layman terms, cos ur engine use to have 'thicker' properties of engine oil... but i know there is ppl doing that got $$$ change to full syn, no $$$ change to mineral... |

ur accelerator feels a lil tad lighter also... coz the engine oil properties (atoms) is much smaller so it give u the lighter feeling...
i'm using 5w-30 for my 5AFE but change every 5k km... engine sound a lil rougher, but u feel slightly lighter... This post has been edited by michael9413: Feb 23 2010, 11:27 AM |

err... their engine is more responsive from wat i feel... but again test drive to get ur preference no use to ask here and there... both are good cars... Vios = Comfort... City = Sportiness...i can say mostof the Honda's car handling will beat Toyota's, coz the are in the different setup, Honda go for handling so their suspension is a lil hard but Toyota is at the comfort side more towards daily driving... ur choice... TEST Drive la... no use to ask... can u ask ppl eh... this girl/boy good ar??? u r his/her x mah, i thought of getting him/her to be my gf/bf

QUOTE(spiderwick @ Feb 27 2010, 08:51 PM) hi guys, i'm going to SC for my 10k service soon and i think it's cheaper to do my tires alignment, balancing and rotation outside of the SC? the SC charges RM60.50, do u all think it's reasonable or i better go outside to do it? it won't void my warranthy right? it will not Void any warranty if you change ur tires outside also...thanks! QUOTE(vios2002 @ Feb 27 2010, 08:58 PM) yes you can do out side this part will not void your warranty, outside shop have more experience doing alignment ... all the machine is about the same but that also depend on how often they calibrate they machine for accuracy. SC sub out to outside also la... Toyota NEVER have Wheel department and also Air-cond department...QUOTE(TUCKY @ Feb 28 2010, 12:06 PM) my ex-GF's vios G dugong's dashboards looks really nice but upon closer scrutiny, the dashboard is made of hard cheap plastic and i can forsee in time, there will be some rattlings. My old Vios still don sound woh... depends how u maintain it only... haha... |

yes... so far i did not know... but i know they always sub out to outside...
so it is not a good choice... did that once, complaint after 1000km alignment gone... then ask them to redo, but until 5000km my left tire wears a lot faster compare to others... so ask them to check again they wanna charge but my dad wack them coz how come 5000km tire almost like 30-~40% used already... so after i come back i still do not trust them ask a shop to check at the end found out that the left one still out by 2~3 degree (with computer printed result slip)... so complaint to HQ, they send a apology letter... my fren told me no need to go back for that... if ur air-cond system u wanna service and u don mind paying like what they are charging at SC, better go to Denso Glenmarie or Denso recognised center lo... |

not really a lot la... fren... just a lil only... not really much... maybe from 500km/tank to 480km/tank??? or 14km/L to 13km/L???
actually FC depends a lot on a lot a lot of things... the way u drive is very personal, the traffic of the section that u always go thru... the road condition, a lots of humps or up and down slopes or traffic lights or stop n go... the stop and accelerate progress is very personal as you timing u press ur accelerator sometimes might affect ur acceleration also... as you say new dugong will has a delay of pick-up/acceleration but ppl still tough it has no power and press more... y not u try like that release the brake pedal... let it roll for 1~2 sec then u press a lil on the accelerator... see if there is any difference... and when u press the accelerator pls press gently not half way... haha well as you say it is for higher speed drive like 90 km/h onwards... not much issues la... y not try Yokohama C Drive??? i think u can take Hankook V12 directional tires but what i scare is the sound insulation of ur car...
cos directional tires tends to make a lil more noise than Asymmetric/Symmetric pattern tires... XM1 don have that size...Primacy LC has it... others 195/55 R15 comfort with performance recommendation is Falken 912 or Yokohama ES501 (if not mistaken the code) Yokies ES501 is a lil expensive lo if you don mind... from Japan so call premium quiet tires... directional tires is a lil more noisy only depends on ur requirement... if you don mind or u are doing sound insulation on ur car, u can try Toyo DRB, Hankook V12... both also not bad on comfort... PP2 is nice 3 set used... now try others UHP tires... using Hankook V12 now, comfort and more grippy than PP2 in wet but hydroplaning resistance is not that good (which i wan better at least 110km/h at highway in wet still ok, PP2 able to do that better than V12)
but he insisted on comfort... i told him PP2 side wall is a bit hard but ok for Toyota's soft suspension setup i think he did not wan to change n change again... my next target now mostly on Toyo T1R... b4 i jump back to PP2 next year kua... |
