As long as S&P above 1,000, it should be not a big issue.
Hope to see KLSE @ 1300 by DEC 2009 |

But if it really does take longer time than we expected, we can't just sit there and plain worry.
How many years it gonna take for recovery is not the point here already cos it's beyond our control. Find other way out. Average down the stocks is one of it. This post has been edited by debbieyss: Oct 2 2009, 08:57 AM |

If buy at 0.20 + 0.95 conversion = 1.15 far far away from the current mothershare of 0.68. (Almost double) Not a good buy.
Why Gpacket dropped from closed of 0.835 on 27/8 and openned 0.70 the following day? Any one knows? This post has been edited by protonw: Oct 2 2009, 09:29 AM |

Sorry... that's why in my previous post (on the day I bought) I said I made some mistakes...
KPJ is very generous. Every since I bought it in Apr, it already give me 1) dividend in specie, 2) 10cent dividend, and now got free share + warrant. Also year to date, my KPJ already surge 40% My regret on KPJ is I sold half of my holding in July to buy RCECAP which give overall less paper gain... QUOTE(panasonic88 @ Oct 2 2009, 09:46 AM) |

Hi guys… I’m new here & to the stocks as well…
Was just wondering what u guys think of Boustead? The price ex-rights has been falling off a cliff, (a 10-15cent cliff that is) for the past 3-4 weeks…Is it because of the general weakness in the plantation sector currently or are ppl really worried about Boustead’s high gearing? I hope it is the former… Anyways, been following this forum for quite some time, learned a lot from u ppl…. |

Mistakes that we all made; but got gain got loss. At current situation SAAGcrap and OILcrap are both crappy!
Oilcrap no need to explain anymore. SUNNYcrap is KINGcrap! SAAGcrap is out of viable business. No point in waiting for business in India to pick-up. This is fundamental. This is not the case for those who jump in to make a quick buck gamble. just an opinion. But 10sen is a good price to get in. I would . |

15 cents? 10 cents? 5 cents?
The lower the stock plunged into the lower range, the harder the stock can revive because if the company fundamental is sound, the stock won't plunge to that level in the first place. Only when company fundamental deteoriate severely, only you can see it down to 10 cents, by then it might not a good 'bet' or target for investment anymore. Lower price doesn't mean good for buying for investment. If a stock now is 0.17 cents, we can't view drop to 10 cents is good for entry as when it drops to 10 cents, situation is indifferent than now ie. its fundemental deteoriate further. |

Tonight is the monthly (sept) job data, which shows how much job being created/loss and unemployment rate.btw, tonight's unemployment rate report different than yesterday's unemployment rate report? Yesterday is the weekly jobless claim number. |

QUOTE(chyaw @ Oct 2 2009, 03:20 PM) The reason why market turn bearish lately is because of double dip risk become higher now.Chicago PMI show a drop after continously recovering figure, ISM manufacturing yesterday also the same, drop back after going up for several month. So if tonight job data shows decline figure compared to previous month, it just confirms the recovering is stalling and potential to slip back. |

i agree with cherroy!
both company are fundamentally in MENTAL case. Both top Saag directors are no longer major share holders. Business from india - only story - no news on development. Local business is slow. Major earnings for last quaters came from diversified source and not entirely from ONG. But 1 complimentary from INDIA. If good inflow from their investment, then the EPS will improve drastically - ""i think i read this from TheEdgeDaily "" sometime back. |

I want to ask something:
http://www.cnbc.com/id/17689937/ This website shows DJ futures latest status. It even updates every 15 minutes during daytime in malaysia (nightime in US). I wonder if US people don't have sleep? How come there are people that trading futures during their nightime and hence make the futures status move? |

Look at DJIA, 3 session continuous down. KLSE was spared for now, but soon, very soon it will follow a big drop daily. |

We may need to redefine fundamental stocks if L shape for 10 yrs.
Those companies that earning money for the past 10 yrs may also fall into PN17 Best solution: dump all stocks, buy a piece of land, and grow your own food. Sarawak and Sabah are ideal place to do this QUOTE(debbieyss @ Oct 2 2009, 09:25 PM) |

QUOTE(panasonic88 @ Oct 2 2009, 09:52 PM) pinching my cheek The bad data was extensively 'trawled' by the authorities to minimize market shock I think.... the index is softening yesterday was a bad hurricane... hopefully today is a sunny day. The US has already made it clear unemployment is likely to go over 10% and with no real recovery in employment till Q1-2011, so I think the markets will just have to deal with it.... Management of Change and all that........ |

QUOTE(mopster @ Oct 2 2009, 10:51 PM) Time to look at mesdax he he he.... The Mark Twain effect is the phenomenon of stock returns in October being lower than in other months. The name comes from the following quotation in Mark Twain's / Pudd Wilson: "October. This is one of the peculiarly dangerous months to speculate in stocks. The others are July, January, September, April, November, May, March, June, December, August, and February." The 1929, 1987 and 2008 stock market crashes roughly occurred in October. QUOTE(David_Brent @ Oct 2 2009, 10:55 PM) And also - there is growing evidence that many companies have cut-back too brutally and may need to re-hire very soon...as you said. This is indeed true, at my area, factories and company are struggling to hire back people to meet the sudden rise in orders. They are having not enough people to produce.Short-term it's good for earnings though.... You can't blame the brutal cut back early in the year, as there is almost no order or little order across and price of goods are tumbling fast, even my company's one of raw material, price tumbling near 50% over 3-4 months time, imagine those stock up a lot one, surely suffering. You don't cut your expenses, you might not survive if there is no huge stimulus package to stimulate the economy. Company need to act quick whenever situation change. Company might earn less due to unable to meet the demand, but if company doesn't react in the first place to cut, if situation doesn't turn better, without the cut, company might not able to survive in the first place. |

Good companies will respond very fast which may mean suffering for employees. But it is a survival game. And the fittest survive. Cost/Overhead cutting is where most of the last quarter earnings come from in good companies - productivity is increased and higher efficiencies....IMHO Also: management must focus on real issues. Hiring and training new workers will take some time. My point is that for investment these so-called unemployment numbers may not be a bad thing. Also - good companies with astute management will emerge leaner, fitter and more profitable.... <Just my opinion only> This post has been edited by David_Brent: Oct 3 2009, 12:34 AM |

Economy, stock market, company is not charity game, always must react quick for survival. After all, it is not totally bad thing. Every event happening has its good face as well. Just like if not the 1997 Asian crisis and its lesson, Asian countries won't be that resilience to face the current global crisis. But for broader and longer term sense, it is not that good, without more people being employed, you don't increase the demand as no job, no money to buy new toy. There is limit how much you can cost cutting and productivity increment, you always need increment in sales to bring the profit to a new higher level. Without more job being created, the sales prospect won't be that good. |

But stock market could go ahead too far by itself by expecting a steep V-shape recovery. Personally view, recession will go away, but recovery process and return to normal health of growth take time. Just like you said, the patient has been kept alive, need time for nursing, we can't expect the patient to go for 100m race next month. It could take 1-3 years time before everything passed. I don't believe after 1st year of anniversary of financial crisis, we are talking like nothing happen and bull charging non-stop. From March low to now of stock price surge or bull run, I still view it is a correction of panic selling and undershooting of the market, which after things calm down, stock market react to what its real fundamental should be, that's why we see some stocks that shouldn't beaten down surge 50% or more as previously panic and pesimisticsm is overly done or excessive, while for some stocks, they are not recovering as they are the one really hit by the crisis. So it is a selection or elimation process. |

QUOTE(motolola @ Oct 3 2009, 06:20 PM) naw warries daniel.. more chances will come up i'm sure Yah, I agree with u. I share the similar thoughts as your uncle..hehe..Regarding not selling shares, I have a slightly different approach. Depending on what shares. Some shares which resembles the Market Efficiency Theory, I will just hold it. But some shares which follows the Market Inefficiency Theory, I hold it until its overvalued, then sell it off and wait for the share price to become undervalued again and buy it again. But this strategies only works for fundamentally good companies though..Doesn't work for speculative stocks or highly volatile companies.my uncle told me the shares he bought are going to be his inheritance to his kids. he never took profit even if they rose in value. he let me take a look at his unrealised profit, so many zeros man~! sure brings new meanin to the word LONG for me |

He does not buy and sell for short profit. If buy and hold is wrong, he would not be 2nd richest man in the world. If we say Motolola's uncle misses many opportunity might not be appropriate too. Of course there are many factors too. I would not say n0v1ce is incorrect. It just depends on individual's portfolio and background. |

For example I like to ask Axiata this question. QUOTE What was the real reason why Celcom service gone yoyo for 3 days during the Hari Raya It it due to poor management who had allowed all their technical staff to go on a holiday at the same time and what action had management taken to avoid this from reocuring. How much losses did Celcom incurred for that 3 days This type of question will only be answered during the AGM. This post has been edited by rosdi1: Oct 4 2009, 01:51 PM |

In Stock market there are no right and wrong just timing and abit of luck. |

QUOTE(chyaw @ Oct 5 2009, 10:13 AM) I got no bullet liao.... somehow I think the earth quake have some "impact" on SAR... However, SAR located in Kalimantan which I didn't feel anything in Kuching. Padang is near to pen. M'sia than Kalimantan... Doesn't appear to be relevant to me.As you said.one in Sumatra and the other in Kalimantan..The drop I believe is in line with the softening of the SG market and other regional markets today. |

But SAR drop more significant that other counters. And I can't find any other reason for it...
Another thing that have impact on SAR is raining season. Their activities can be slow down by it as some of the mines may be flooded (happen in Q1-Q2 where their output is below target)... Anyway, are you buying SAR??? QUOTE(lklatmy @ Oct 5 2009, 10:22 AM) Doesn't appear to be relevant to me.As you said.one in Sumatra and the other in Kalimantan..
Added on October 5, 2009, 11:34 amJust maintain min S$500 will do. Last time I didn't have any transaction for 3yrs also no problem. Only the interest is very pathetic. But due to exchange rate, my saving in S'pore grow much more than in M'sia FD as S$ keep moving north as compared to RM (for the past 6 yrs)... I actually regret moving much of my S$ to RM few years ago...
May I know which bank are you referring to? Are you a S'pore PR?
|

QUOTE(debbieyss @ Oct 5 2009, 01:17 PM) Our No1 man wont let it drop that much Anyway buy in batches so you dont miss if it reverse and if fall further average down. Nobody knows when is the stop. See, volume so low, there is no panic sell. So I think it will be flat for a while...... If it doest go down, it goes up. Buy at your own risk. |

The good and bad about buying M'sia's shares... It doesn't drop so much and it also won't go up that much.
My STI counters had been running extremely well previously, and now it drop a lot! So, for those that loves bloodbath, go to other country to play. QUOTE(protonw @ Oct 5 2009, 01:24 PM) |

Not up a lot or down a lot. Even Up a lot, non index counters can still blood bath and vice versa. So need excitement other bounces. Totally agree. My STI counters had been running extremely well previously, and now it drop a lot! So, for those that loves bloodbath, go to other country to play. |
