As long as S&P above 1,000, it should be not a big issue.

Hope to see KLSE @ 1300 by DEC 2009

Traders just dumping. Actually its a good buy. DJIA heading 10,000 and KLSE heading 1,250. Tomolo is RED KLSE - as HK and Nippon will open red.

I wouldn't really worry from day to day if I were you.
Over many years the final quarter (Oct-Dec) has been very positive for the equity markets worldwide.
FBM-KLSE should be no exception....IMHO
Most reputable analysts would agree..... hmm.gif

lets see whether OCT 23 (jordan;s number) going to help in putting the ball through the ring and score or the reverse, just a fake updates that nothing could happen to pull through klse.. up to 1400 .. as of now.. 1200 is not a problem anymore..

Go go go everyone.. the bear will be head on with the Bull Forces...

Not sure, but our counters should be red unless you buy KLCI index counters. rolleyes.gif
I think tonight will be the critical day that determine whether DJ will move north or south. Let's pray hard. sweat.gif

Most counters should be red, until #1 man's backup arrived. Btw, I also share your worry on L shape recovery

L also = long

But if it really does take longer time than we expected, we can't just sit there and plain worry.

How many years it gonna take for recovery is not the point here already cos it's beyond our control.

Find other way out. Average down the stocks is one of it.

If buy at 0.20 + 0.95 conversion = 1.15 far far away from the current mothershare of 0.68. (Almost double) Not a good buy. hmm.gif Wait for the heat subside. laugh.gif

Why Gpacket dropped from closed of 0.835 on 27/8 and openned 0.70 the following day? Any one knows?

Sorry... that's why in my previous post (on the day I bought) I said I made some mistakes...
KPJ is very generous. Every since I bought it in Apr, it already give me 1) dividend in specie, 2) 10cent dividend, and now got free share + warrant.
Also year to date, my KPJ already surge 40% rclxm9.gif
My regret on KPJ is I sold half of my holding in July to buy RCECAP which give overall less paper gain...

Could be or could be not. Because it will only have effect on one or few days. If company reporting good quarterly report with good div payout, I think whatever myth also no use

Hi guys… I’m new here & to the stocks as well…
Was just wondering what u guys think of Boustead? The price ex-rights has been falling off a cliff, (a 10-15cent cliff that is) for the past 3-4 weeks…Is it because of the general weakness in the plantation sector currently or are ppl really worried about Boustead’s high gearing? I hope it is the former… hmm.gif
Anyways, been following this forum for quite some time, learned a lot from u ppl…. thumbup.gif

oh ok... i was thinking of averaging down as the payment date of the dividend is on the 5th of oct... Maybe LTAT & other major shareholders might reinvest the dividends into Boustead n jack up the price, but well this COULD be another whacky reasoning from me... lol..

Sorry... that's why in my previous post (on the day I bought) I said I made some mistakes...
KPJ is very generous. Every since I bought it in Apr, it already give me 1) dividend in specie, 2) 10cent dividend, and now got free share + warrant.
Also year to date, my KPJ already surge 40%  rclxm9.gif
My regret on KPJ is I sold half of my holding in July to buy RCECAP which give overall less paper gain...

oh ok... i was thinking of averaging down as the payment date of the dividend is on the 5th of oct... Maybe LTAT & other major shareholders might reinvest the dividends into Boustead n jack up the price, but well this COULD be another whacky reasoning from me... lol..
neways, thanks for ur input... much appreciate it....

Still stable la. I will be going for this counter REAL soon.

High time to get Paid Proxy service or run your own web server or VPS. Same thing I did when I trade FOREX.
I will have remote desktop/windows. Access through your Web browser. Something like TELNET but with GUI.

Not cheap though. Cost me roughly $10/mth.

At current situation SAAGcrap and OILcrap are both crappy!
Oilcrap no need to explain anymore. SUNNYcrap is KINGcrap!

SAAGcrap is out of viable business. No point in waiting for business in India to pick-up. This is fundamental. This is not the case for those who jump in to make a quick buck gamble.

just an opinion. But 10sen is a good price to get in. I would .

15 cents? 10 cents? 5 cents?

The lower the stock plunged into the lower range, the harder the stock can revive because if the company fundamental is sound, the stock won't plunge to that level in the first place. Only when company fundamental deteoriate severely, only you can see it down to 10 cents, by then it might not a good 'bet' or target for investment anymore.

Lower price doesn't mean good for buying for investment.

If a stock now is 0.17 cents, we can't view drop to 10 cents is good for entry as when it drops to 10 cents, situation is indifferent than now ie. its fundemental deteoriate further.

Tonight is the monthly (sept) job data, which shows how much job being created/loss and unemployment rate.

Yesterday is the weekly jobless claim number.

The reason why market turn bearish lately is because of double dip risk become higher now.

Chicago PMI show a drop after continously recovering figure, ISM manufacturing yesterday also the same, drop back after going up for several month. So if tonight job data shows decline figure compared to previous month, it just confirms the recovering is stalling and potential to slip back.

i agree with cherroy!

both company are fundamentally in MENTAL case.

Both top Saag directors are no longer major share holders.
Business from india - only story - no news on development.
Local business is slow. Major earnings for last quaters came
from diversified source and not entirely from ONG. But 1 complimentary
from INDIA. If good inflow from their investment, then the EPS will
improve drastically - ""i think i read this from TheEdgeDaily "" sometime back.

No need to worry too much on the October myth. It just mean pure choppy trading, got up and down, which makes the index grow nothing or slightly negative. I'm sure when good quarterly report is out, every counter will try to outdo each other

I want to ask something:
http://www.cnbc.com/id/17689937/

This website shows DJ futures latest status. It even updates every 15 minutes during daytime in malaysia (nightime in US). I wonder if US people don't have sleep? How come there are people that trading futures during their nightime and hence make the futures status move?

Look at DJIA, 3 session continuous down. KLSE was spared for now, but soon, very soon it will follow a big drop daily. shakehead.gif

We may need to redefine fundamental stocks if L shape for 10 yrs. brows.gif
Those companies that earning money for the past 10 yrs may also fall into PN17 brows.gif Nobody wants to take rental for business, so all REITs counters will be gone... drool.gif
Best solution: dump all stocks, buy a piece of land, and grow your own food. Sarawak and Sabah are ideal place to do this icon_idea.gif

The bad data was extensively 'trawled' by the authorities to minimize market shock I think.... hmm.gif
The US has already made it clear unemployment is likely to go over 10% and with no real recovery in employment till Q1-2011, so I think the markets will just have to deal with it.... nod.gif

Not supporting la. They release bad news so that people like Debbie might panic and have typo error that eventually spread to everywhere and everyone is panic selling in the first session. So come 2nd session, they buy at dirt cheap price, and sell it again when others are buying again. This is call buy low sell high

Think the market took the hit yesterday.... hmm.gif
The non-farm employment data was leaked like a dripping tap so investors weren't really surprised this morning IMHO.

Also - unemployment is a long-term threat to the recovery (no question about it) but these data will mean that corporate earnings should improve dramatically in the next reporting season and through the end of 2009 because of productivity gains.

Q: What do the markets like?
A: Earnings

I agree.
I was seriously considering adding Nekobank to my stable but when I read what they were planning for their BII business - it makes me want to run a mile.
TBH - I hope CIMB takes them over - that would be a good move. hmm.gif
the country has too many banks IMHO....

A: Earnings

laugh.gif
*
yah.. earnings is the king... but also need to take note that things will eventually come back to those corporations when there is less and less consumers able to buy their products/services.. hmm.gif

also, from what i heard on bloomberg, they are blaming SME for not hiring enough ppl.... laugh.gif

-------

on the other hand, i wonder what headline they'll put later...
now is "Stocks fall as job losses rise more than expected" To "Stocks recovered despite mounting job losses" ? laugh.gif

------

my dad told me CIMB has the biggest market cap in KLSE now, followed by SIME, Public , Maybank and Axiata if i remember correctly...

You're absolutely right. Long term jobless-ness is a big worry.
And also - there is growing evidence that many companies have cut-back too brutally and may need to re-hire very soon...as you said.
Short-term it's good for earnings though.... drool.gif

The Mark Twain effect is the phenomenon of stock returns in October being lower than in other months. The name comes from the following quotation in Mark Twain's / Pudd Wilson: "October. This is one of the peculiarly dangerous months to speculate in stocks. The others are July, January, September, April, November, May, March, June, December, August, and February."

The 1929, 1987 and 2008 stock market crashes roughly occurred in October.

This is indeed true, at my area, factories and company are struggling to hire back people to meet the sudden rise in orders. They are having not enough people to produce.

You can't blame the brutal cut back early in the year, as there is almost no order or little order across and price of goods are tumbling fast, even my company's one of raw material, price tumbling near 50% over 3-4 months time, imagine those stock up a lot one, surely suffering.

You don't cut your expenses, you might not survive if there is no huge stimulus package to stimulate the economy. Company need to act quick whenever situation change. Company might earn less due to unable to meet the demand, but if company doesn't react in the first place to cut, if situation doesn't turn better, without the cut, company might not able to survive in the first place.

Well - that's absolutely right.
Good companies will respond very fast which may mean suffering for employees.
But it is a survival game. And the fittest survive.
Cost/Overhead cutting is where most of the last quarter earnings come from in good companies - productivity is increased and higher efficiencies....IMHO

Also: management must focus on real issues.

Hiring and training new workers will take some time.
My point is that for investment these so-called unemployment numbers may not be a bad thing.

Also - good companies with astute management will emerge leaner, fitter and more profitable.... drool.gif

Yup, this is what happening now, increase productivity and squeeze out more from existing left workforce.
For shareholders POV, this is good thing.

Economy, stock market, company is not charity game, always must react quick for survival.

After all, it is not totally bad thing. Every event happening has its good face as well. Just like if not the 1997 Asian crisis and its lesson, Asian countries won't be that resilience to face the current global crisis.

But for broader and longer term sense, it is not that good, without more people being employed, you don't increase the demand as no job, no money to buy new toy. There is limit how much you can cost cutting and productivity increment, you always need increment in sales to bring the profit to a new higher level. Without more job being created, the sales prospect won't be that good.

This is the biggest worry - no doubt.
But - if you're treating a patient with multiple injuries, your first job is to keep him alive and breathing. Then get him walking and eating properly.....

The 100meters race or training him for the marathon can come later.

The toxic debts and derivatives that created this whole mess are going to take years to get rid of....
As investors, we have to react to circumstances as we find them...but I agree with you - without consumer demand - the recovery will be very fragile... hmm.gif

Soon or later, consumers will recover, it is matter of time.

But stock market could go ahead too far by itself by expecting a steep V-shape recovery.

Personally view, recession will go away, but recovery process and return to normal health of growth take time. Just like you said, the patient has been kept alive, need time for nursing, we can't expect the patient to go for 100m race next month.

It could take 1-3 years time before everything passed.

I don't believe after 1st year of anniversary of financial crisis, we are talking like nothing happen and bull charging non-stop.

From March low to now of stock price surge or bull run, I still view it is a correction of panic selling and undershooting of the market, which after things calm down, stock market react to what its real fundamental should be, that's why we see some stocks that shouldn't beaten down surge 50% or more as previously panic and pesimisticsm is overly done or excessive, while for some stocks, they are not recovering as they are the one really hit by the crisis. So it is a selection or elimation process.

Direct account, registrar will post direct to you with proxy form in the annual reports or whatever....

For Nominee account, (I deal with Maybank), I just e-mail them and they will lodge my attendance to the registrar and forward me via e-mail a proxy form. On AGM registration day, just tell them you are a proxy of which bank/company and produce your IC. (some company may need to show proxy form but the last 3 AGM I went did not need it at all) tongue.gif

Yah, I agree with u. I share the similar thoughts as your uncle..hehe..Regarding not selling shares, I have a slightly different approach. Depending on what shares. Some shares which resembles the Market Efficiency Theory, I will just hold it. But some shares which follows the Market Inefficiency Theory, I hold it until its overvalued, then sell it off and wait for the share price to become undervalued again and buy it again. But this strategies only works for fundamentally good companies though..Doesn't work for speculative stocks or highly volatile companies.

Warren Buffet's is long term player. He does not buy and sell for short profit.
If buy and hold is wrong, he would not be 2nd richest man in the world.
If we say Motolola's uncle misses many opportunity might not be appropriate too.

Of course there are many factors too. I would not say n0v1ce is incorrect.
It just depends on individual's portfolio and background. blush.gif blush.gif

For nothing to do shareholders to pass time, gathering with friends, collect free doorgift or free lunch.

For shareholders to curse, condemn and scold directors of the company when it made losses. laugh.gif

For company to pass resolutions as per requirements of companies Act.

hmmm.. thanks
what the benefits / advantages of attending AGM?

free door gift  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

Other than the door gift and free drink...
you can also ask them questions that usually don't get much attention.
For example I like to ask Axiata this question.

QUOTE
What was the real reason why Celcom service gone yoyo for 3 days during the Hari Raya
It it due to poor management who had allowed all their technical staff to go on a holiday at the same time and what action
had management taken to avoid this from reocuring. How much losses did Celcom incurred for that 3 days

This type of question will only be answered during the AGM.

Doesn't appear to be relevant to me.As you said.one in Sumatra and the other in Kalimantan..

The drop I believe is in line with the softening of the SG market and other regional markets today.

But SAR drop more significant that other counters. And I can't find any other reason for it...
Another thing that have impact on SAR is raining season. Their activities can be slow down by it as some of the mines may be flooded (happen in Q1-Q2 where their output is below target)...
Anyway, are you buying SAR???

I never like Singapore bank account - my savings dwindled automatically year-on-year in it until it was closed by itself.
Apparently need to maintain/transact a min amount every year. If not the bank will happily minus ur $ here n there.

Added on October 5, 2009, 11:34 amJust maintain min S$500 will do. Last time I didn't have any transaction for 3yrs also no problem. Only the interest is very pathetic. But due to exchange rate, my saving in S'pore grow much more than in M'sia FD as S$ keep moving north as compared to RM (for the past 6 yrs)... I actually regret moving much of my S$ to RM few years ago... doh.gif

My STI counters had been running extremely well previously, and now it drop a lot! sweat.gif

Doesn't mean much, but at least some feel on how other traders believe DJ will be tonight...

Yup, will raise. Since last week, the drop was already factored in the bad employment data, factory order, housing etc.

That's why last Friday most stocks bounced back from multi weeks low.
