I'm not implying anything. Bata shoes are under 300, come with top grain leather and rubber soles. On top of that some of the models look not bad too.

A while back there was a member who procured goodyear welted shoes from kulitkraf. Apparently they are a supplier for the armed forces. Not sure if they have sleek designs though.

Looks good, what's the damage? Use Saphir shoe cream/wax if you can find them, else Kiwi or Starwax work just as fine.

Church uses corrected grain as well, particularly for black shoes. Yours is probably full grain but can't say for sure.

If you are truly looking for proper dress shoes as the thread title suggests you should look at those offered at plal. All others are either overpriced, of sub-standard quality or both.

How would they make more money if they were located in a mall? I would say their have a rather niche group of customers, with minimal walk ins. How many ppl in malls would drop 800 bucks for a pair of shoes? The rental alone would probably deem it unfeasible.

Have at least 2 pairs of work shoes since these are the shoes you will wear at least 5 consecutive days a week. This way you can rotate them every day; each pair has a 'rest' day after every wear.

QUOTE(MeToo @ Feb 3 2012, 03:23 PM) 1 day is the least if you can't afford to have 3 pairs at once. I suppose in a humid climate it would take >1 day for the shoes to really air out. This is not to say you can't wear the same pair of shoes everyday. Rotating your shoes makes them last longer. |

QUOTE(kyuen7 @ Mar 5 2012, 11:19 AM) Ok thanks...but don't think retailers will do that right? I mean hiding the invoice and writing 'gift' for purpose... But I will try my luck... If you are buying from a retailer I doubt they will mark the item as gift. May be possible for purchases from individuals. |

QUOTE(tonyy2999 @ Mar 15 2012, 09:37 AM) Hi Adkin, You are right, black + brown hardly gel together. It's difficult to match this 2 colors. Save your black dress shoes for your black pants. Brown shoes should match well with : any shade of brown / earth tone pants, khaki, chino, or even blue jeans. Hope this help. QUOTE(adkins981 @ Mar 15 2012, 12:23 PM) There seems to be no mention about purple pants. What shoes should I wear with those? |

A 400 dollar budget is a bit "in-between", meaning you don't have enough to buy a pair of Goodyear-welted (GYW) shoes from an English company, and yet more than enough for fashion brand (Aldo, Pedro etc).
If you can fork out another 200 or so, entry level Loakes or Cheaneys would probably be within your reach. They may made in India, but hey it's still GYW. Best place to buy? Plal. Alternatively, you can try googling for this company, Kulitkraf. They are a local company that supplies to the army, IIRC. Yes, GYW shoes can be resoled but you have to ask yourself, would you go the distance to have them resoled in a number of years? AFAIK, there are no GYW tools for resoling in Malaysia. Nearest possible place is Singapore. Most likely you would need to send them back to UK. Also I would advise against buying online, unless you have tried the shoes on. Shoes come in different sizes and lasts, a UK8F for one model may be a UK7.5G for another model. Always a big risk to buy without knowing the fit of the shoe, especially when you're spending 600 bucks. |

I've never seen their shoes in person but from your description they seem like a good buy if one is not expecting Vass-like quality.
