Can I use iphone 2g charger on the 3gs? help sifu(s)..

Hi there, I'm a newbie in LYN... My iPhone keeps restarting when it received carrier signal. But when I put the phone in airplane mode or i take out the SIM card, it works fine. Sometimes after restart, it will display battery low warning. When the battery is low, even I put it plugged and try to connect to carrier, the problem will occur again. The only possible time to connect to carrier is when battery is full + charger plugged in. The problem occurs since OS2.2.1.. But when i first got the phone, it has no problem. Now I've changed my battery (chapalang battery RM40+) and upgraded my OS to FW3.0 .May I know what is wrong with my iPhone? Any sifus out there? TQ

my iPhone spec:

iPhone 2G 8GB
OS3.0 (7A341) Jailbroken

hmmmm.. wanna try to update to OS 3.2.1 instead??

I've tried other SIM cards, still the same... T.T.... 3.2.1 can be jailbroken? Because I'm using unlocked set... xD

ok tq bro!!... but any other sifus know bout my problem now? I'm actually suspecting either OS or GSM Module...

hmm do you know that, in order for iPhone browser to work, you have to jailbreak your unit beforehand?

Hi , i'm having this problem with my iphone 3gs.
i bought it at August 2009.
Everything works fine until 1 day which is about a week ago.
I realized that my compass is not pointing anywhere .
and when i enter the goggle map , it just can't find my location.

Is anyone of you facing the same problem ?
Do you guys think this is covered in the warranty , and if it does, where should i claim the warranty ?
Please help me .

Have you tried re-booting your phone to troubleshoot? After doing that, if it doesn't work, you must restore to see whether that solves the problem as, when you bring to Maxis (I am assuming it's a Maxis set), they will also restore the phone first to see if that will do the trick. If it does, you would have wasted a trip.

I'd read in some forum that few people is facing the same problem even after restoring the phone/ and got their iphone replaced
So i didn't restore it. But will try it later.
Is there anyone who is facing the same problem ?

Added on November 16, 2009, 3:32 pmboy it was such a fiasco in the maxis TTDI yesterday (and this problem of mine, actually involved a few forummers here )

touched down in KLIA and bought the hotlink 500MB for rm68 and i could never get it to work! i even got the confirmation text from hotlink, informing me that payment has commenced and the duration period.

tried everything on the book (network reset, dial *100# to active gprs et cetera) and keeps generating "could not activate cellular data network - you are not subscribed to a cellular data service).

rang up hotlink and was told because my unit is not from maxis, that explains the problem. unsatisfied, after that she told me to go maxis TTDI to get the "gprs settings" (???!!!)

patronised the branch and the dude (who happens to be a regular in LYN) suggested that we manually change the APN (via the website).

tried booting up the phone a few times (home and silent simultaneously) and it just will not go through the apple logo.

so i had to restore my phone as a new phone in the maxis TTDI (and lost partial of my data!) and only to find out, they can actually enable "something something" on their system for me to experience internet on my iPhone.

all that shenanigan for nothing!

i don't know la. but it was done through their system.

so when it was feasible for me to get online on both his iPhone and mine, i proceeded to ask him, "so, all of our previous attempts were not necessary, if we have done that first?"

he sheepishly said "possibly"

nevertheless, i appreciated his help and his company as he was explaining how things work in maxis et cetera throughout the ordeal

Nok, firstly, good to have you back to this neck of the woods, albeit temporarily. Secondly, with Maxis, tell me what else is new. Unfortunately it had to be you who was the one who experienced their ineptness this time around which luckily didn't cost you too dearly save for loss of some data. Hope they can be retrieved by some means.

N I'm nt so sure abt hotlink users, postpaid users face less or no prob at all. Most to most aso session hang n just hv to reset backhand one.

it was fine la. i'm not blaming him or anything to be honest. even with apple, it is recommended that you backup your unit before leaving the house.

if it was anything more, i actually have myself to blame because i should have known better (since i'm the allegedly experienced one) before heading to maxis TTDI. i thought it was just a simple procedure.

my entire collection of flirtatious, text messages sent by numerous female acquaintances are now gone! nothing precious inside my iPhone as i did subscribe to the mobileme plan and restoration was painless and quick.

that aside, i'm more than happy to be connected 24/7 now and i could never imagine myself without data after getting "addicted" to it during my tenancy in australia.

yeah. i'm trying la... psyeo is also keen on coming and he is not from the klang valley region

Googled from the net, get to know we must either disable our SSH, or change the password.

I have followed this steps and successfully changed my password. Pray pray that I am protected against any future hack..

There's nothing much to be discussed about; and the worm, as u know affects onli jailbroken phones + those who didn't bother to set/change SSH passwords. Really doesn't quite affect the phone until U pick up a call. A friend of mine who's using the i2G got infected but like I mentioned, it doesn't affect the usability of the phone

Whilst infected iPhones' usability is not affected, owners will feel violated cause something they didn't install appears when they don't want it. For those who have jailbroken their iPhones, just change your root password which is quite easy a process.
