Depend on which one u like and which one u can find la
Even if i tell u that u shld try eg: H.Arizonensis but u cant find also no use
Have u try other Heterometrus species like longimanus or patersii?
If u prefer scorp tat use sting, u can basically keep any species aside from those with big chela and hot scorp

I thought it's venom is level 3 only.. ?
However, never think of handling it with my bare hand.. =.=
But still very tempting tho...

Accident happen even if u din plan to handle it
U just started la, not that i wan to look down u or wat but i think u really need some experience with other species 1st before going for hot scorpion

Added on May 24, 2010, 2:05 amAnw, not sure if the one he selling is really exilicauda or sculpturatus
This two species which are very similar and often swap their scientific name from times to times are often misidentified
If it's indeed exilicauda then the venom should not be as bad according to wikipedia (Thou it's a unreliable source)
U should do more research on google if u want to know more

hmm... i got plan to keep nark scorpion though, but then my friend said is not suitable for me... i wonder why.
i just keep heterometrus longimanus... other than that i think i nvr keep before.
i got my afs from deathpion last couple weeks, if i not mistaken it is also H.longimanus.
what is your meaning of big chela and hot scorp?

I think it means that if you want scorp that use sting,
Choose those with small claws but avoid those venomous scorp that might cause fatality..

ya, i did keep it from v1... after keeping the 1st 2 pair, 1 ady escape due to not proper lid, the other one die due to unknown reason. both of them is around 3rd or 4th instar.
2nd time keep scorp is a adult pair... keep quite long, nearly a year, but then end up died cos being attack by those small red ants... that's the time i lost my other 2 syrian hamster as well, due to ants... just 1 night only (kao tim all)
then the 3rd time is now lo...
all this time i been keeping AFS.

so i also not sure what kind of scorpion i wan to keep other than afs.
and i want to have a breeding pair so i can see the babies, i still waiting on this...
other than that is to have a colony.
but still, just dunno what species to keep.

http://scorpionforum.darkbb.com/scorpions-...izard-t2198.htm

All i can say is, do ur research on various scorp species and also survey around market in malaysia to see what species is available

hseyrann00,you take hot hottentotta better la.If I'm not wrong c.sculpturatus and c.exilicauda is the same just different place name them differently(in us).
Bark scorpion are more hard to keep as they escape easier than other sp. bcos they have barks in their enclosure.
Be patient in keeping scorpion,I dun see the reason to rush.
Keeping scorpion you have to think for the scorpion, yourself and other ppl.And once if some1 being stung by deadly scorpion and it is on the news, the goverment will sure implement rules in keeping them. And then many ppl will hate you.
