That guy is malaysian, his name is alex
Not sure bout malay name for potting soil, i only know coco fiber is call kelapa hancur

False bottom is not necessary imo, the relative humidity in our country is high enuff
Usually i just pour in a cup of water in my afs tank and it last for a few week before i have to add in more water
*
Pour 1 corner only ?? so that the substrate got semi-damp and damp part..

Or pour evenly.. ? so that whole substrate are damp ?

Pet shop owner using, u mean bark chips?
One GOLDEN RULE that u must forever remember in keeping exotic
NEVER EVER TRUST PETSHOP EMPLOYEE'S ADVICE

If it's not bark chips i guess it is ok so long it can hold moisture, support burrow and contain no chemical
Anw we only change substrate when we see mites present in the enclosure, but i never change my scorp substrate
*
Aww... but that's taukeh... Bought from a pet shop in Sunway Mentari..
The conversation are in cantonese.

Me : Do you have " Coco Fiber "
Taukeh : o.O ???? huh .. ? ?
Me : Er ... "Kelapa Hancur" .. ???
Taukeh : huh .. ? okay , u go and check over there.. got 2 packet soil left there but is for scorpion 1..

Then i go and check his scorpion , he's using the same soil ..
But now i do believe it's Coco Fiber tongue.gif after googling for the pictures...

Question : How to start then ?
As u said , put in water and let it soak for a while ? then take out and compress it untill no water drip out..
Then put in the container .. Is that right ? hmm.gif hmm.gif

hmm... i got plan to keep nark scorpion though, but then my friend said is not suitable for me... i wonder why.
i just keep heterometrus longimanus... other than that i think i nvr keep before.
i got my afs from deathpion last couple weeks, if i not mistaken it is also H.longimanus.
what is your meaning of big chela and hot scorp?
*
I think it means that if you want scorp that use sting,
Choose those with small claws but avoid those venomous scorp that might cause fatality..

hseyrann00,you take hot hottentotta better la.If I'm not wrong c.sculpturatus and c.exilicauda is the same just different place name them differently(in us).
Bark scorpion are more hard to keep as they escape easier than other sp. bcos they have barks in their enclosure.
Be patient in keeping scorpion,I dun see the reason to rush.
Keeping scorpion you have to think for the scorpion, yourself and other ppl.And once if some1 being stung by deadly scorpion and it is on the news, the goverment will sure implement rules in keeping them. And then many ppl will hate you.

Lol.. thanks for the friendly advice.. smile.gif

Why u choose intermediate to advanced scorpion lol
Stick to beginner one first la, u just started like, less than a month isnt it?  hmm.gif

*
Lol.. was aiming some intermediate sp.

Alright. As i know, beginner sp. that i found selling online in Msia such as
Heterometrus sp.
Pandinus sp.
Liocheles Australsiae

Intermediate i would say :
Mesobuthus Martensii
Hottentotta hottentotta
Centruroides exilicauda
Buthus occitanus

For advance , i would not touch these for the moment :

Androctonus sp.
Leiurus quinquestriatus

What i was aiming (Non-forest) :
Hadrurus arizonensis
Mesobuthus Martensii
Centruroides exilicauda
Hottentotta hottentotta (well, currently only can wait for this.. sad.gif )

Those were some summarize from my reading thru internet.
I know my info might be wrong. (Pls do update me with what is right, thanks)
I'm looking forward to learn more about it.
