Basically I'll avoid Onkyo by any means, no doubt it is the cheapest AVR that comes with THX, but the transformer weight is something need to consider(heavier = more power)
May consider Marantz 5008 that they are selling at rm1699.

Don't know, as I was in the same boat with you 2 years back, stuck between Yamaha and marantz. Which at the end I get marantz 5007 since it has lesser models to choose about. I not that like a brand that carries a lot of models on the same series, since some of them are using same circuit board.

AVR wise, yamaha is definitely the cheapest as all of it is made in Malaysia. RX is a good start for just 5.1, should go amcorp mall and search acoustic system. You will find all that you there

How is the Yamaha calibration compared to Audessey XT32 which can calibrate 2 subs? Lost touch for 4 years already, previously Audessey XT32 was the best in terms of dual sub calibration right from the av receiver.

Ic.. Audessey XT32 was the best for dual subwoofer setup just behind Audessey pro only found in the top models from Denon and Onkyo. Was hoping there would be improvements after a hiatus of 4 years now that Dolby X and Dolby Atmos is available.

It seems the best Dolby Atmos setup in Malaysia is now in Soundfusion, have you gone there for an audition?
