rx330, yeah but I never followed up on the thread. Did I get screwed? LOL!!
I've been downloading a whole lot less these days. There's no point since I hardly watch more than 10% of what I download. Everything else gets burned to DVDs(as mkvs)

For me... 1st priority is PQ first then AQ lossless audio then comes the BDJ support... so far i've no complaint playing the BDMV on the 6500a.. as long as i can bitstream..i normally extract all those BD-Iso whenever i wanna watch them.. no time lor to watch all. biggrin.gif

as for BDJ support.. i can alwiz used HTPC but without lossless Audio support.. sad.gif

i have an mkv movie with ~192kbps HE-AAC 5.1 audio. i plan to convert it to AC3 5.1 using popcorn mkv audioconverter. what shall be the bitrate for the AC3? shall i just remain at 192kbps or shall i raise to 384kbps. the reason i'm saying 384 is because i've found out that many other mkv uses AC3 384kbps but AAC uses ~192kbps. will the quality be the same for these 2? (sth like WMA 64kbps has same quality as MP3 128kbps) or the quality will drop after conversion if maintain at 192kbps AC3?

my goal is to maintain same quality yet compatible with all media players as well as AVR that support AC3.

Yep and it gets pretty tedious esp most of the files these days are bigger even than a DL-DVD.
So besides the 6500a, what media player can bitstream HD-Audio?

dune1.0 dune 3.0 C-200...

since the 6500 is already over 1k.. so these mentioned are the alternatives in this price bracket (1-2k)

y so low bitrates..? like mp3 one..

i've never tried choose higher bitrate than the original files.. normally i convert DTS 1500kps to AC3 640 kbps.. but nevertheless u can simply tried convert into few files with different bitrate n see if the is a quality loss..

I don't see how you can load BDMV/BD ISO correctly if you don't have one of these BDJ players...

all the other solutions including 6500's BD lite are half baked.. (they say dune/C-200 got problems loading these files) at least they can try to load correctly.. all the others can't do it properly, just guessing the largest M2TS file at best.. and cannot seperate the audio correctly if sometime the M2TS comes with some foreign language track inside.. biggrin.gif

Hmm how about a HTPC with a Radeon 47xx series card? That would solve the HD audio part right? Then again, we're talking about media players here :-)

I guess the thing with these Dune players is the difficulty in obtaining them? Otherwise there should be hordes of owners already right?

basically 6500 is playing m2ts by playing guessing the file game and with ability to pas thro both hd audio. Which works out fine if u need something now rather than wait a couple of mths.
