Guys, HN Ikano selling Divco package with 1TB for Rm2099 for the latest shipment. Understand that we can have some freebies together with the purchase.  Good buy?

Which model? 6600? I think better get from Lowyat. More cheaper.

6600 firmware should be out within 2 weeks according to supplier.
PQ on 6600/6500 vs BDP will not be too much of a difference on lcd/plasma unless you are using FHD projector with FHD screen on a big screen.

AQ on media players vs BDP will be very obvious. I've compared the same movie on 6600/6500 vs Oppo83, the sound quality is totally different. bass is much tigher, details are better and more dynamic.

Of course, it depends on the Sound system you are running on. If using consumer brand HTiB, u might not notice much....but if u r using 10k above system, the difference will be a lot.
6600 vs 6500 ...6600 loads faster and GUI looks better than 6500. Feature wise, 6600 improved on the internet side and navigation and preview mode. according to dvico, all 6500 functionalities will be available in 6600 once the next firmware is released. so just sit tight and hopefully within 2 weeks time, 6600 users can enjoy the full functionalities.

Beta Firmware for 6600 is now available at http://www.mpcclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21678 I had it updated yesterday evening and have no issues nor complaints.

Thanks. Let's see what is the latest progress.

Seems it can play BD ISO, can it support menu function and DTS HDMA and Dolby True HD passthru?

" You cannot hear the sound or pass-thru of DOLBY TRUE-HD audio embedded transport stream yet."

this important feature not settled?
*
In conclusion, Realtek 1283 chipset Media Player still cannot passthru HD Lossless sound?

You mean Dvico is over-priced? Frankly speaking I have this thought too that nowadays even the much cheaper one can passthrough HD audio & slowly they can too play BD.ISO. But ppl still buy and treat it like premium product...can you explain?
*
Maybe Dvico has info panel infront that makes it easier to sell above 1k mark. Not much 1283 chipset media player in market.

hmm.. maybe.

anyway I think, 6500 seems to be doing a decent job currently.. BDlite menu with all the HD audio passthro via HDMI..
*
BDLite menu is a ++ points for Dvico 6500. As for HD Audio passthru, cheaper Sigma chipset players already can do that.

legacy from their 6500/7000 days.. (1-2years ago 1+k media players are on par with BD player pricing)

by now, even BD players like panasonic and sony are selling at RM599...  even PS3 with optical drive and HDD is only like 1.3k..

besides there is nothing special about the ICs and PCB board from TVIX.. no special ATI 5970 chipset, no emotion engine , 4GB ram etc..  justify it costing over RM1k in raw materials costs..
*
They want 400% profit margin..... That's y selling so expensive.

You should get a NAS to solve this issue. Coz very troublesome to do swapping, even once in a while....

I am in favor of this recommendation and that is the reason I ended with 2 NAS serving my needs. 1 for medias and the other strictly for backups.
*
It is much better solution to multi HDD users. I will get one NAs Etrayz later when available. All my HDD already full in my PC. Need to get one during coming PC Fair. Hope some bargain deal available.
