Hey Zerorules, what is your luminance settings? I noticed that when I set mine to 0-255, then the movie becomes too dark.

Thx!

isnt that a computer thing 0-255 full range, for movies should be limited 16-235 range right?

Yes but if u were to calibrate your LCD/Plasma with the "blacker than black" kinda signal, the device must be set at 0-255.

Oh well, not important. I'm happy as long as my Dvico doesn't produce all these overly dark videos which was driving me crazy for the past 2 days.

HI

i currently own the M-4100sh model and my hand is kind of itching to change it to the newer 6500 or the 6600 but could anyone tell me the real difference between the 4100 and the 6500/6600?....i dont usually play RM files so the 6600 is not really that tempting to me ....thanks...

^ If 4100 plays your mkvs or any other medias for that matter, there's no reason to upgrade....and why do u need any software updates?

What if it is an upgrade from wdtv to 6500? Is the huge price difference justifiable?

Oh yes! biggrin.gif
I did just that a few months back. The fact that I didn't have to copy my downloaded media to the usb devices and then to the WDTV alone is worth the price. Now all I do is stream from my PC. So much more convenient. Also the WDTV couldn't light up Dolby TruHD and DTS-HD words on the AVR. tongue.gif

That's the main issue that tempted me to switch !!! Do u think the HD Audios play thru 6500 is a night & day improvement over the core audio??

What if it is compared to standalone BD player?

I don't have good speakers. All I can say is that HD Audio sounds pretty good but the difference is not day and night.

In term of AQ ur AVR wud do all the processing if u Bitstream... sud be the same,, biggrin.gif

LFE definitely more tighter.. IMO the surround and vocal are much clearer than the core audio..thumbup.gif

for PQ IIRC correctly Anfieldude did comment on DVico does not mess up the colors as the previous WDTV..

6600 firmware should be out within 2 weeks according to supplier.
PQ on 6600/6500 vs BDP will not be too much of a difference on lcd/plasma unless you are using FHD projector with FHD screen on a big screen.

AQ on media players vs BDP will be very obvious. I've compared the same movie on 6600/6500 vs Oppo83, the sound quality is totally different. bass is much tigher, details are better and more dynamic.

Of course, it depends on the Sound system you are running on. If using consumer brand HTiB, u might not notice much....but if u r using 10k above system, the difference will be a lot.

6600 vs 6500 ...6600 loads faster and GUI looks better than 6500. Feature wise, 6600 improved on the internet side and navigation and preview mode. according to dvico, all 6500 functionalities will be available in 6600 once the next firmware is released. so just sit tight and hopefully within 2 weeks time, 6600 users can enjoy the full functionalities.
