QUOTE(jim18992 @ Sep 22 2009, 08:13 PM) Actually, our squad are not as thin as ppl always thought. Let think about it, if all our player are back, specially in midfield, we hv more than enough midfield Unfortunately that only happens in my dreams, or when I play FIFA lolThis post has been edited by sigheart: Sep 22 2009, 09:24 PM |

Alright. Job done. Fulham away next. Hopefully it will be 3 points and a much better performance this time around compared to the spineless performance the lads put up last year in the same fixture.

It was a good result and we are through. Job done. Well played.
But please do not get carried away like I have seen some people on here who generally just went by those clips of goals scored and some match reports. According to Gooner supporters who watched the game the performance from the kids weren't as magnificent as what people think. West Brom were arguably the better team in the first half and we could and maybe to an extent would have lost had they had 11 men for the full 90 mins. Even with 10 men they played and defended well and limited us to 0 attempts on goal till our first goal when Vela came on and they began to tire. My point is don't get your expectations up too high yet at this point. Just let the kids do their thing and see how it goes from here. |

QUOTE(lostasylum @ Sep 23 2009, 11:16 PM) i just think that as long as we win, that's the most important. again, i am from the school of thought that believes "winning ugly is better than losing pretty". of course, we need to improve and i dream again of the day we play the kinda flowing football that not only mesmerised the viewer, but also tore apart the opposition. but at this point in time, winning will help get us there... =) Yes I too rather win ugly than lose pretty. Like I said it was job done. We advanced. Well played. But the point of my post here was many people are raving with heaps of praises and adulation by just basing on what they read from reports and what they see from 2 mins of highlights which I find kinda funny. All I'm trying to point out also is don't get your expectations up too high like judging from some of the comments here plus from some other forums its as though the Carling Cup is more or less in the bag already and the kids are already good enough for the first team, which is absurd at this point to say the least. |

QUOTE(lostasylum @ Sep 24 2009, 10:31 AM) yeah, i'd agree on that with you.... we've got a good crop of youngsters who have great potential, but let's not get carried away. Precisely. You only have to look back at the reaction last year when we got dumped out by Burnley after virtually handing Sheffield Utd's and Wigan's asses on a platter in the earlier rounds and you will get what I mean lolbut i feel this mirrors the judgement of our first 11... one good game from arsenal and suddenly we're title contenders. one defeat and we're doomed... that's just my 2 sen.. =) |

Damn my connection was down for the past 2 days and I come back on to find more injuries to the squad. Denilson breaks his back and Bendtner breaks his Aston Martin....

In that 5 best signings list I would take Cesc out and replace him with Freddie (3m) or possibly Sol Campbell (Free) IMO. Marc Overmars (5.5m) and Petit (2.5m) comes close as well.
Yes Cesc is captain now and all that but to be honest he has yet to achieve anything to justify being in that list. I think being in that 5 worst signings list is a little harsh on Cygan. There are a few who I can think of at the top of my head right now who were much worse than Cygan...Kaba Diawara anyone ? Also Guillerme Warmuz who was signed albeit on a short term contract but left the club with 0 first team appearances. This post has been edited by sigheart: Sep 29 2009, 02:40 PM |
