1. It depends on how many cities do you set for weather update. Typically it costs only 10KB or less, as most operators charge per 10KB, so refer to your operator how much does 10KB cost.

2. GPS is free. AGPS or called Quick GPS in our phones, it costs less than 10KB also.

3. Twitter I have no idea.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I only have two cities that I update really. One of them really not needed tbh. So it'll cost roughly 10KB or so to update the weather using data eh? Not too bad it seems.

With regards to the GPS...You mean to say that assisted gps doesn't require the phone to try for a data connection to triangulate my position? From my understanding of it being free and requiring only roughly 10KB, it would imply that the 10KB is just to update the satellite locations then. How then does the phone update your location on the fly - especially when you're driving. Would it attempt to use the mobile towers to get a signal from the satellite?

as i describe about A-GPS n GPS on 1st page. this is actually 2 different technologies. it isnt related somehow. when u got only GPS, it works fine too. when u got AGPS, it is just act as assistant to ur GPS. in how? it helps to speed up the locking of GPS. tat only.

the best application to see the difference between AGPS n GPS is Google Maps. there is options to on GPS or OFF.

so, when u off. google maps tell u u roughly 1000km radius. but when u on GPS, u roughly around 20m radius.

AGPS is uses your cell tower to estimate where r u currently. GPS calculate the distance from ur phone to fixed-position satellite. hence they know ur exact location by Latitude n longtitude.

AGPS, another usage is to inject cell tower info into GPS. which in turn pre-notify GPS chipset that ur approx location and the effect is speed up GPS locking.

so, in conclusion is GPS doesnt use data. as it calculate ur phone location to satellite only. and satellite is provided FOC. AGPS, download ur cell tower info and inject into GPS. or uses AGPS cell tower info, google map DOWNLOAD map into ur phone. (google maps is the one activate the data connection to download map, AGPS can simply tell where r u without any DATA as well. juz google map cant show where u r without a map rite?)

Btw, syncing between MyPhone and Outlook really a lot of problems....

Recently I revamped my whole contacts, adding lost info (thanks to scrubs) and adding a more complete name.

Once I changed the name, MyPhone backs up both. (Changed and unchanged.)

Example: First I put my friend name Bruce, then later I edit it to be Bruce Lee. In MyPhone, will have Bruce and Bruce Lee 2 contacts. mad.gif

As for Outlook, some of the contact can sync, some cannot sync.

Maybe I should try Google service liao. sweat.gif

Hey, I experienced something similar to you. I don't think it's the syncing bit. All I did was update my friend's contact with her birthday. Next thing you know I have two entries for her name with identical details in my phone book. Spooky. She used kage-bunshin to multiply laugh.gif

What Rom you on btw? Could that be the case? This has never happened to me on my stock rom (as in proper-old-stock-first-xperia-release-rom).

ps: How do I give ratings here? I see them but I can't seem to rate a post itself sweat.gif

@xcen, marquis

hmm, sometimes i do notice this problem. but not contact.. is my calendar problem.. tat y i only trust exchange server only. exchange server connected 24/7 with my phone. they know exactly wat contact and wat event i updated. n thus no duplicate query is made.

my outlook is then sync another time with exchange server. in this redundant way, there is no duplicated files or event or contact. this is best n so far i din have any error in those sync method.

but once i launch myphone n backup to myphone. then i can see duplicate item. so, now i will clear myphone once i flash rom. i see the problem only occur once i flash rom. n seem like myphone cant detect it once i restore with exchange server. they juz create duplicate item then.

if anyone use pure myphone service? i think it would be any problem. only those who uses combo technologies of backup like PIMBackup + myphone or exchange + myphone o outlook + myphone or watever craps combo.. this might be the culprit.

Great... I forgot to backup my contacts first before I messed with my contacts.

Now from 100+ contacts down to 17 contacts. I'm dead, seriously dead.

Somemore I was syncing to Outlook when this happened, Outlook in all its wisdom decided to update so fast when normally it takes it so slow. ARGGGHHH!@

See, when MS and HTC aren't in frenzy the cooks will now concentrate on stability and optimization.

I like Agent's current effort to reduce the RAM consumption, check out his latest changelog, 43% on boot.
