Hi there guys. I can't really be bothered to check all the pages of the previous thread and this as my connection is being a bit of an arse.

Does anyone know how much the price for an original case is? As well as the keyboard and the installation cost for said items.

My set is the unfortunate silver keyboard...and really can't be bothered to send it for warranty. Someone in the forum is selling a compatible case, and I'll probably go for it (provided it's still in stock once I've got the cash).

Any inputs here?

ps: Need to flash my rom. Messed up my TF3D cab, and would rather something faster. Any recommendations? The firestorm seems interesting biggrin.gif

Anyone? Seems like this forum isn't as friendly as it used to be back in my 903 days. Sigh.

Don't quite get what you're trying to say ler. You mean you're trying to connect to the internet via the phone once it's connected to the pc?

If that's the case, you would probably have to enable the internet sharing on your pc first

So you're saying that you used the computer's internet connection right? Not too sure if it applies, but the last time I tried to use a device to connect to the internet via my pc, I had to enable the internet sharing bit.

Have done a google?

You can try your luck looking for original casings on ebay. Did you try asking ericserve?

Firestorm is good for me. I don't understand why the others keep saying that it's a battery sucker, on average I can use it for 2 days. Don't use Galarm if possible, that app is a batt sucker.

One thing I realize rota likes to praise his own work.. He keep saying his is the most stable, the fastest, most responsive, but from the forum replies doesn't seem so. Well I'll wait for feedbacks from other forummers first before considering flashing to his. He is still considered new to cooking roms. ETA 2.5 hours for those who are interested.
*
Ah...thanks for the tip. I don't really trust ebay Malaysia, so will probably check elsewhere first. Will google ericserve and see what's there? Thanks for the tip! smile.gif

yup..i done this step already..but stil fail....and we need to tick the "Enable Advanced network functionality" ? even tick the thing i stil can't online thru phone  cry.gif  cry.gif  really dunno what problem...is that the Kaspersky block my INTERNET SHARING?? because i just bought kaspersky anti-virus...so i'm not sure is that the problem or not...is that possible?  sad.gif

Are you on XP or Vista? If it's XP you'll need to dl something. Someone mentioned it here. Is it not possible to unblock your Kaspersky thing? Have you tried connecting your phone to another computer to see if it can connect?

If possible don't use cable to flash, a bit risky. SD card method is always the safest =)

Oooh. Did not know that! But er...will it affect your card in anyway?

Does anybody know the price of replacing the whole casing of this phone? The whole casing includes keyboards, back battery cover, buttons etc.
*
I've been asking around (was kindly asked to check ebay international) for the casing as well. There's a member who quoted me about RM500 for an original casing. I don't think it includes the keyboard though. It's quite cost prohibitive to get an original casing here. I was thinking of getting a compatible casing from ebay uk.

Anyone has any other idea? There's a member selling an "ap housing" as well. Says it's class A blah blah blah. It's still about RM 140 though. A more reasonable price than RM500. I could possibly source it for cheaper than that though. Just not too sure about the quality.

Any thoughts?

I find S2P too iffy to navigate. It tries too much to follow an iPod setup...but failing miserably. To me at least. laugh.gif

Question with regards to custom ROM:

Between Energy,Touch X and Touch IT, which would you guys say is the best? In terms of

- Overall Performance
- Portrait/landscape support
- Ram usage
- Battery consumption
- Finger-friendliness

Based on what I've read, Touch X seems to be the most stable...or so I was lead to believe. Energy seems more vibrant, full of life though. Not too sure if it supports landscape. Seems as though it does? I'd go through this thread but there's too many keyword combination to think of, so I figured I'd just ask for it laugh.gif

I'm installing Touch IT as I'm typing this...Hope all goes well. A bit of a virgin when it comes to flashing a custom ROM blush.gif

yup.. so far i only know 2 way of multi file transfer via bluetooth. by using total commander and resco file explorer. both of this software can multi-select but then there is now thumbnail show of the picture. so sometimes is quite annoying.

another method, which is better. u can download the latest resco picture thinggy. i juz forget wat is the name for it. 2am, brain freeze up. i think it can select few picture and send. but as u know, only picture.
hmm, rota's rom always looks promising. but when using, it isnt practical at all.. buggy around. 2 times he said all bug fixed, but still buggy. juz hope this release of rom is stable enuf. but i still dare not to try anytime soon..

anyway, i installed Driver Package 3 from xda-developers website. i can feel a lots of improvement everywhere. opera loading, zoom browsing all become smoother. tf3d oso become smoother. scrolling in start menu can see improvement. almost everywhere loads much better.

garmin n video yet to try. too late to drive out alone now.. xD
*
Buggy? Well initially, yeah. Just do a few hard resets and soft resets and it's good to go biggrin.gif

I dunno. I personally like his ROMs better than Itje's. It seems faster to me...and it just feels better overall. Ram usage doesn't suddenly spike up after prolonged usage either...Unlike with the latest TouchIT ROM.

Driver Package 3...Will do a search on XDA and see what I come up with? Sounds interesting though! smile.gif

latest touch-it is really not any good. so far best it still touch-it 5.6 i think or public build.

yeah.. that da driver pack.
*
Erm...Somehow after doing one hard reset and a few soft resets seems to make it a bit more stable. It could be a placebo effect, but heck, it seems to be working for me! tongue.gif

With regards to the driver, (it's amazing how ppl don't even bother to search eh? laugh.gif ) did you follow the instructions in the thread (disable tf3d etc etc) or did you just run the cab?

Downloading rota's blaze 2.4.5, will flash later tonight. Hopefully it doesn't has as much bugs as his previous version. The data auto connect issue is not a rom issue but from the HTC sense.

Looks like I got to rely on Nodata when I return home next summer. Luckily for now I've data package.

@chongkiatz

Go to settings, system then screen. You can find it there.
*
Hey, in case you've not read rota's thread yet, I think the file he uploaded was corrupted...so might wanna wait for him to re-upload before flashing?

Yes when you get back here, it'll be hell. Data charges here are a bloody rip-off!

Edit: I might have been to quick to judge. Some flashed and it was alright. Lesson learnt: Will do it myself first the next time tongue.gif

@marquis

I don't think the file that I downloaded was corrupted. A few has flashed and it's running well. U flashed?
*
Well mine was. Bloody corrupted if I may add. All's well now though. Flashed, went through a hell lot of trouble (mutliple errors even after hard/soft reset). Followed someone's suggestion there, and now it's all good! biggrin.gif

It definitely is fast. Beats the Touch IT ROM imho although ymmv. Personally, me likey biggrin.gif

oh xcen, if playlist support and hardware control even after the screen is off, try s2p. I'm fairly sure it supports playlists (although I could be severely confused with another player I had installed sometime ago). Give it a try and see if you like it smile.gif

On a side note, I noticed that the bluetooth remote doesn't jive with the TF3D's built in player. Ah well. Does Nitrogen support it?

Ah, I guess Rota didn't make his UC compatible? I'm not too bothered by that...yet. How good is Agent's ROM btw? Fast? Stable? What makes it stand out?

Hmm, I would say it's stable enough for daily usage. Fast not really.

I tried making a hard reset and that error msg is still popping up. I've ady remove the silent uc folder from my mem card. Sigh..  Looks like I'll be flashing back to valkyrie later.
*
Hm...Seems like a similar problem to me. It's too much hassle really to do it if you don't really like how it runs. I like mainly because it's fast. It's not bug-free I think. There are still some quirks that I could live with.

I need a ROM that's fast...otherwise I get impatient and feel like flashing it again laugh.gif

QUOTE(thirdoption @ Oct 25 2009, 09:03 AM)
perhaps the stock ROM you are using is faulty & buggy. why not try custom ROMs? yes, they void warranty but they are faster & has less problems. another solution is to search for bug fixes here!
*
Just a point to add - yes flashing to custom ROM voids the warranty...but you can always flash it back to the official ROM smile.gif

GPS around 30mins ytd.
*
Hm...Fast, stable good battery life. Do you make lots of phone calls a day? Or text on top of your heavy data usage?

Which version of Valkyrie do you have btw? Might flash to that if Rota's one still gives me hell. I like it because it's fast. Really fast. Ram usage is pretty darn high though and battery seems to be going really fast as well. Sigh.

QUOTE(xcen @ Oct 25 2009, 11:44 AM)

unfortunately I can't test for you coz all that I use are wired, cheap and also fast lol.

No worries smile.gif It's not that important the bluetooth issue. As long as I can make phone calls while I'm at the wheel is good enough. It's just that my radio is busted so sometimes I rely on my headset to listen to music so I don't fall asleep laugh.gif

I'm on valkyrie FS 4.3.75 Leo, so far so good, mentioned that battery life has been improved, I need more time to check that out. One minor bug is that after a soft reset, in home screen it'll go back to my location but not the previous city selected. And weird thing is even if I add the same city as my location, the weather readings are different, my location shows partly sunny while the city I manually added shows snow..

Agent will be uploading build 23081 by tonight. Don't know whether I should flash or not, have been on a flashing spree yesterday night, rota's blaze 2.4.5 -> FS 3.9.61 > FS 4.3.75 with numerous  hard resets for each flash. And as rkwan mentioned the roms nowadays are getting more and more unstable, all the cooks are just trying to cook in newer stuff and they're forgetting stability.
*
It was mentioned somewhere in Agent's thread of a workaround with regards to the location. Ianm, you have to delete some file in the registry. That ought to do it smile.gif

How good is Agent's ROM eh? Is it fast enough? Can the keyboard keep up with fast tapping speed? The battery life would be a big plus biggrin.gif Only downside to me is the lack of "shortcut" space in the home page. Ah well.

Would rather not go through another hasle of backup+flash+restore rclxub.gif

I wouldn't say it's very fast but it's good enough for me and yes kb can keep up with my typing speed. Lack of shortcuts? How many do u need? For now I've only 9 frequently used programmes on my homescreen.
*
Hmm...I use about 10 or so but that's including shortcuts to frequently called numbers. Don't like the thought of having to go to my contacts tab to pick a number to call (so I'm a lazy arse tongue.gif)

Might consider flashing to Agent's Valkyrie FS 4.3.75 Leo then since the kb is fast. That's of my main concern as of now considering how my keyboard is...going crazy. Need a new case but don't have the resources of time nor money to source for one just yet.

...but I digress. When I do flash to Agent's ROM, I'll be sure to update on the speed difference.

Here I go again, flashing (no, not in that way laugh.gif ). sweat.gif

2day i gonna to flashing spree again.. from valkyrie 3.9.61 (best ever now).. to energy rom 25oct rom. at first look.. it really eyes candy.. nicer font, very very nice background. i all the time likes it since touch pro.

it tooks longer time to set up for first time. ok, tat fine for me so long it works.

alrite, first boot.. everything looks good. i wrongly press "phone" on home tab, then press "windows" key (be mind that this build is bottom build). it hung.. good.. i soft-reset. then 2nd time, i boot in.. go to every single tab so that it create n load the database. i press tab by tab until weather.. it hung again. caz loading the database of music n photo. i wait.. more than 1min, still not responding. soft-reset again.

then, 3rd boot, from photo tab. i slide open keyboard.. no LANDSCAPE. but then the thread it show landscape so nice!! WTH?? anyway, FINE energy!! then i press stocks, wau.. loads damn fast. then press internet and mail tab continously. GREAT, hung again..

i wonder anyone uses energyrom here? was it the rom is really so sucky? or was my device? i hard-reset 4 times as well. but still no hope. 2 b4 flash, 2 after flash. but still comes out liddat..

planning to try rota now.. 2.4.5.. as 4.3.75 LEO is too many error..
my advise is dont flash rom currently if u found ur rom is stable for u..
*
Hi there smile.gif With regards to the Valkyrie ROM (FS I'm assuming?), why do you say it's the best ever yeah? Fast? How fast is it when you're scrolling from tab to tab?

I just installed the latest VFS from Agent (the one Kenlui recommended) and the first impression is...well it isn't as fast as Rota's ROM. True his ROM tends to be problematic at first (and later on if you install too many things that conflicts and uninstall them), but it's fast!

I especially like not having to wait for the tabs to load (except for the home screen - probably due to the weather thingy). Pressing the Start menu will 90% of the time bring out the menu in almost a fraction of a second (unlike the other ROMS I've tried).

Main gripe would be the inability of the messaging tab to link to the stock windows app. You know, the HTC client is realllllly slow (dl the cab to disable using it for sending) to the point it being almost unusable. Even with the fix, tapping on a text in the messaging tab would still bring up the HTC Messaging Client. Me no likey sad.gif

Will update later to see if it can actually beat the speed of Rota's ROM

Edit: Hmmm...It seems that after a hard reset, the performance sort of improved? Or is it just a Placebo effect? Lol. Currently restoring my contacts and stuff...Will see how well it performs once I've got it back to the same level as I did Rota's ROM

be mind that, valkyrie 3.9.60 is the rom i recommend. is LEO. is pretty stable n fast. but not as fast as rota. after install driverpack3. scroll on valkyrie 3.9 is faster than rota 2.4.5. n again, is 3.9. i dont know about 4.3, but i doubt it will any faster than mine.

wat rota rom u used previously?
*
The one that you're using now laugh.gif I don't remember how well his old ROM performed anymore.

Agent's latest FS is absolutely brilliant! After a hard reset, it becomes quite fast. Installing the driverpack3 seems to help as well. I've finally installed most of the things I had when using Rota's, and although I haven't actually benchmarked the performance, it seems that Rota's and Agent's ROM are almost equally fast. Rota's might be slightly faster, but I think for now I'll go with Agent's.

QUOTE(kenlui @ Oct 26 2009, 03:26 AM)
For me rota is pretty bad, no idea why but the silent UC didn't work for me.

I also tried FS 3.9.61 LEO but when I run silent UC, htc sense couldn't start after I did a soft reset.

Yeah, the google map bug is still present but I'm not really bothered by it, ady reinstalled. And again the auto connect bug is not caused by agent or other cooks, it's either the new htc sense or wm 6.5 causing it. Rota's  blaze 2.4.5 has the same problem too.

I don't really use titanium weather so not a problem for me, and as for the sleep of death issue I haven't face it for quite a while ady, ever since FS 3.8 Leo onwards.

I'll probably stay with FS 4.3 Leo till agent uploads the new build 23081. A bit tired from flashing, and reinstalling all my apps.

Hey, Energy's already released a 23081 build if you're interested? I must thank you for suggesting the FS. Made my life so much easier now biggrin.gif

Eh? No no, it's a Leo to Leo comparison lah.

Agent's Rom just crashed on me for some strange reason rclxub.gif Couldn't launch anything, and couldn't turn off my phone! Had to take out my battery sweat.gif

EnergyROM is not that bad la, it's just that ngam ngam you flash a buggy version, just like Rota's previous version.

If I'm not mistaken Energy's 22 September (or October) one is fast and stable.

I'll try driverpack3 soon since I'm back home with proper internet.

Added on October 26, 2009, 5:47 pmOh btw, S2P doesn't support playlist. It has a nice graphics and all though, I've yet to test its battery life but I'm very satisfied with Nitrogen's.
*
Hey, sorry about the misinformation tongue.gif I must've had it confused with something else I was using. Too long ago can't remember it anymore tongue.gif

I'm quite content with Agent's Rom for now...just a few gripes:

-The keyboard can't really keep up with my texting if I go on "Hyper" mode to send a text/email.
-Random crashes (A few times already...not related to any new installation)
-Right softkey reverts to "home" after a soft reset

But I like his interface and all the things he's skinned. His start menu is much more organised and his icons are nicer than Rota's biggrin.gif

Especially love his lock screen where the slider is at the bottom as well - makes much more sense than having the slider at the top.

I need someone's input who has tried either all three (Rota, Agent, NRG) or just between Agent and NRG. Basically, I wanna know how the latest EnergyLeo runs. Fast? Stable? etc etc. laugh.gif

Oh, another thing, does (latest) Energy Leo have the windows key at the bottom? The M2.5 one. Hoping it does (incase it's faster than Agent's ROM tongue.gif)
