a brand new 50mm 1.8 is RM370. how much do u think the used ones is worth buying? someone is selling it at RM350. RM20 diff. might as well buy new ones.
*
i m trying to buy a secondhand 50 1.8 for below rm 350 but this people have no idea that someone in forum is selling 1 year warranty new 50 1.8 for rm 370 only rclxub.gif

will continue to hunt for a cheap secondhand if not i might just buy the new rm 370 tongue.gif

Just wondering, what made you D5000 users here get it instead of the D90? Doesn't the lack of the in-body AF-motor worry you?
*
well beside the small size thing about a nikon SLR, Af motor is not really a problem
Most i think all new release lens are AF-S which can auto focus with d40
Only a cheap must have lens which a d40 cant auto focus is nikon AF 50mm1.8.
The rest of the top top 5 poisonous lens cant be use on a d40 non build AF body flex.gif

It really depends on what kind of pics u shoots. with the different of rm 1000 , u could buy another lens to cover much more.
Worrying about the lens that u can use ? Trust me, when u can afford to buy some nice 2.8 lens, the cost of a SLR body doesnt really matters to you.

again, its a very well build and small DSLR doing what a SLR can do in holiday trip without being kept only inside your bag because of the weight of it.

I just cant imagine how tired is it walking around with your family with a D3 blink.gif

this happens a lot especially newbies, Most pro prefer and have to use manual focus even though they can auto focus

manual is not that hard for portrait and macro = ( thats what a 50 mm doing i guess most of the time )

i have a d3000, i think i wanna upgrade to a better lens. currently still using stick 18-55mm lens. Can any one recommend me what lens should i buy? i'm thinking of 18-200mm or 55-200mm. One other thing, can my stock lens use lens hood like stock d90 lens' using. It's looks kinda cool tongue.gif
*
yes u can buy a hood for the 18-55mm kit Len which make it cooler but most don't really need a hood for d3000 kit lens. I have the hood brows.gif

for me , 18 - 200 is a traveling all in 1 lens and also as a noob lens because alot newbies getting it hoping it to cover all. Its very good for traveling and covering events smile.gif

if u dont mind to switch lens, u could try 55-200 mm with a VR(better for a zoom len).

U should be more specific in what kind of photography u doing.
U should know by now what interest you the most when u holding your d3000 flex.gif

Only that we can give some opinion wink.gif

Totally agree... i was into d90 since long time... but at last minute change to d3000... $ is the big issue... trade d90 for d3k and accessories (which i'm still looking)...

anybody know where i can get sb-600 second hand? any online photography selling sites etc? tried lelong and mudah with no luck
*
there is a sb600 selling by a penang fellow in mudah and if budget ok, u can try a sb800 on lyn or photomalaysia.com

nissin di622 will do a good work too nod.gif

18-105 mm = rm 1000
55-200 mm = rm 900

price list for this options can get u a 18-200 VRI secondhand smile.gif

we coming back to the choices of what we need to buy for what we shooting, some just wanna look cool in using a body with a lens attached with a big hood.

i think 18-105 mm is already enough for all in 1 traveling lens for me.
But out of all the kit lens, 18-70 is still my favourite smile.gif

eh..how to settings cls wirelessly on sb-600 with d60?
need extra things? or do as slave mode?
*
dont have my d40 with me but u can try go menu and search for the flash settings, its dont have commander in d60 so u have to set the wireless flash light power manually before u shoot. your built in flash will pop up and fire in order to activate all the wireless flash.Yes you have to set is slave mode.

Do some experiment your self, set your camera flash at the lowest and try use the lights from the wireless

if u succeed in getting a nice picture, then u can continue your experiment in getting the right kind of light u want for your pics.

good luck

I dont think there is any shop selling cheap in alor setar. Your best and nearest bet would be penang. I survey the price last time at alor setar, they charging like they are from nikon company lol.

U can try buy online too if u lazy to travel.

where do u put ur gear? in backpack?drybox?

well if u use your camera alot, u can just put it in your bags but leaving it for too long is not a good idea. Best way is to keep it in drybox if u not sure on how long u gonna leave em

when we traveling , there a backpack(i forgot the name)
that can store camera and tripod..
are these bag a good to traveling?
oh yea... weather proof huh ?
*
SLR bags smile.gif

not all SLR bags can store a tripod, but there is one good and cheap bags i saw at a shop just now, rm 200 very nice quality and cheap which is good enough for a beginner to bring flash and 2 or 3 lens along with a tripod holder. It depends on the user, how do u want to keep your stuff, U can basically use any bags but it may cause your gears to suffer without the thick padding which protects your gear.
Bags Brand = WINER i think

QUOTE(Cyrus2k @ Nov 4 2009, 10:15 PM)
Guys, from the previous few posts, I can see there are some differences between CMOS and CCD sensor. For now, I'm planning to get a new DSLR (moving in from compact cam) and had narrow down the choices to D3000 and Canon 1000D.

Comparing the specs side by side, D3000 is using CCD with 11 point AF while 1000D using CMOS  with 7 points AF... so, actually which model is the better choice? I haven't play with DSLR much, just that recently I got the chance to play with my colleague D80 and it dragged me further into the dark side of DSLR... sweat.gif
*
dont start a brand war here, all darkside here, of course we prefer nikon blink.gif

since u are a beginner, any brands would do you good till u ready to plan your next step after u venture into SLR world. If it still hard to make your decisions, u can look for friends around u with SLR, u should play the same system because its easier for them to teach u and u can borrow and share lens in the future which is the best.

More canon friends = Canon

More Nikon friends = Join dark Vader to the dark side

Some say ccd is more for colours and cmos is more for softness.

Peace rclxms.gif

QUOTE(enji @ Nov 6 2009, 03:12 PM)
I'm going to buy my new D5000 next week, thought of upgrading the kit lense to a better one. I like to shoot landscape and would also like to try to shoot macro.
Friends have been pushing for 18-200mm (for landscape), some recommended 17-50mm + 35mm F1.8 (for potrait).
I'm considering 18-135mm

Budget for Body + Lense: RM4000 (max  cry.gif )

What do you guys think? Need some advice?   blush.gif
*
people wanna set budget for new body plus some lens, u guys ask him go for d90 meh.

a new d5000 body only cost around rm 2500, that leave u rm 1500 extra to spend on lens

18-200 is not a lens for landscape shooting to me, the 18mm is not wide enough and a secondhand 18-200 nikkor cost more that your budget
(can be replace by tamron 18-200 cost around rm1000 -1100)

35mm f1.8 for portrait is not really suitable, u have to go really near to get a head shot ( ok if u like full body portrait)

my advice = tamron 17 - 50 mm f2.8 (rm1300) = best replacement for kit len
17mm is considerable wide for landscape shoots,
50 mm with fix aperture of 2.8 will give u wonderful bokeh and a focus to your model

so i suggested u a lens that fit both your needs icon_idea.gif

nikon d5000 = rm 2500 + rm 1300 = rm 3800

left rm 200 = would be the must have for landscaper (TRIPOD!!!!!) a budget most expensive tripod from digieye is like rm 160 to 180

But u can consider getting a d90 + kit len which cost u like rm4100.

I welcome you to the expensive hobby smile.gif everything is money here

rm 4000 is nothing when u wanna spend it on SLR lol

I anti poison

its more like extra rm 500 for d90 body, lens is different story.
yea if its me, i would try to squeezes out a few more hundred

so it would be nikon d90 + 17-50 tamron = rm3200 + 1300 = 4500

if you friends have a 18-55 kit lens then its a good new for you and your fren, because u can save money for trying out first before u go for lens and u helping your fren to prevent his lens from growing fungus hehe

plan with your fren, u guys could share lens
