QUOTE(Braynumb @ Oct 2 2009, 09:35 AM) Tamron 17-50 for sure since ur on crop body. 28-70 is craaaaaaaaaaazy for crop body. No more wide angle lor. QUOTE(albnok @ Oct 2 2009, 10:31 AM) ianho: The Tamron 70-200mm F2.8 for Alpha was pretty alright on the A700/A900 because it's screw-driven - anything you've heard about lousy AF is on the Canon/Nikon versions with Tamron's micromotor inside. Oooooh good to know it works so well on the A900, 700. Then u guys have got a superb bargain coz it's been shown to be really sharp. So cheap sumore. New 1 now is oni about rm3000. It let more frames fire during a simulated catwalk comparison between the Tamron 70-200mm F2.8, Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 HSM, Sony 70-200mm F2.8G SSM and Minolta 80-200mm F2.8G HS. Some people might also like how the Tamron has less longitudinal chromatic aberration (bokeh CA). Would also agree that the Sigma is weak at 200mm. Braynumb: Eh don't simply buy lah. There is a big difference between a zoom that starts at 17mm and 28mm. |

I was actually planning to get the 2870 just cause I'm thinking of going FF in after I finish my studies... |

Braynumb : 28mm on a FF is similar to 18mm on the APS-C
24mm is wider and more desirable. For me this is how I'll solve the 24-70mm so-called normal range zoom on the FF. I have the 50mm already. This takes care of the tele end of the above range. All I have to do is take a few steps closer. For the wide end, I intend to get a 20mm prime lens. This will be wider than the 24mm but I can always crop with 24MP in hand! Thus 2 primes which will cost and weigh less than a 24-70mm f2.8 zoom but with similar or brighter aperture rating. Only thing is you need to swap lenses sometimes. The 20mm will also rock for landscapes on the FF! |

after months of research and comparison and opinions, i've finally settled myself down to get a sony alpha dslr...but now the problem is, i dunno what to choose...my budget has limited me 2 only a230 and a200...but from what i read a230 is a disappointment as for a upgraded version of a200 it really doesnt do any better than its predecessor a200, but also appeared to be less user friendly and has worse handling...so guys, need some advice on shud i get a230...and if a200 is still selling anywhere?

Braynumb : I am eyeing the Sony 20mm f/2.8 but that will come much later ler... now totally no budget already.
The new Sigma 24-70mm with HSM seems to be a good lens. Only thing is 24mm is very frustrating on an APS-C body. For me lar, at least. |
