nomoredfox:

1. Remove SD card
2. make sure cam is OFF
3. set the cam to record mode(camera/play slider on the up position), make sure the dial is in P(program) mode.
4. press and hold ^ on the dpad and the focus key while turning the cam on
5. the cam will turn on like normal
6. press and hold < and middle button on the dpad and hit the focus button
7. repeat a few times until you get to the info screen below

Camera Info
Ver 1.20 : 0000 : 0108 (obviously firmware level followed by ??)
No: xxx (long number displayed, maybe the main board serial number?)
PWRCNT: 1341 (I guess the number of times camera turned on, seems about right and does increment after each turn on/off)
SHTCNT: 4575 (the true camera total shot count, only reset by some internal service operation like replacing parts)
STBCNT: 111 (the flash count, number of shots with flash)
PSVCNT: 1 (number of times the auto power off has actuated)

I've tried that since you posted it sometime before. Until now I couldn't access that page. How long do I have to hold the buttons? Do I have to press the < + 'middle' at the exact time down to the milisecond? Should I be getting the page as soon as I hit the focus button?

LOL Anybody reached 10K yet?
*
press and hold lol. while holding both the < and middle button, press focus.

same goes to the earlier step. while holding the up and focus key, turn it on. lol.

ok fine...its my fault then... any1 know how to take pics of waterfall with "live" effect..i tried just now...i tried in manual mode...low shutter speed...but when focusing...the lcd went to white...overexpose...any1 can guide me how...
*
lower the shutter speed, increase the F number smile.gif

alternatively, you can choose the shutter priority mode and set the shutter speed slower. the cam will adjust the aperture accordingly, as long as its not over-specced.

IMO, just leave the lens naked, and get a lenspen. if someone touch the lens, can use the lenspen to wipe it off in seconds!

beats using your clothes/cloth risking scratching the lens.

most camera shops carry lenspens. its a pretty popular accessory. more of a necessity for me tongue.gif

get the lenspen mini II. smaller and should fit in a camera pouch nicely. smile.gif

try checking out yamiya or shashinki also lol.

Went to a local camera shop just now and got to demo a GN50 Olympus flash unit tongue.gif

With a flash THAT huge, you'd be holding the flash instead of the camera! laugh.gif

A test shot from inside the shop with the GN50 flash. I can only rotate the camera counter clockwise to take a portrait pic with the flash, else, if you hold the camera rotated clockwise, you can't even hold it properly! laugh.gif

the 2nd shot blinded me, and i doubt it was full power rclxub.gif

or get a Ricoh LC-1 automatic lens cap, which for me, just arrived this afternoon tongue.gif

Fully zoomed out

Fully zoomed in
user posted image

took me ard 30 mins fiddling with the perfect balanced for the thickness and location of the tape laugh.gif

now theres only a VERY VERY slight dark spot on the bottom right hand corner of the camera with the flash on, and ZERO vignetting on full zoom. used 4 layers of tape, unlike the 3 recomended on ianho's blog.

and i think i've just added 200 to the pwrcnt in just 1 day laugh.gif

yeah, the damned cap is addictive! laugh.gif

btw, any idea on how to get rid of the dark spot on the lower right corner while fully zoomed out?

its very minor, but still kinda distracting tongue.gif
