haha... if there is ever a gathering at malacca i sure will try to be there  smile.gif

btw, asking huh... how to produce the colour tone of scene>dynamic>art using manual config? the pics i took using A or S mode looks lil bit white compare to art, in art the colour is superb...

is that achieveable?

and i oso find that manual focus is hard to use =X

cant get as sharp as autofocus... any tips sifus?
*
my tip: then use autofocus! haha. i just use autofocus unless it cant properly focus on what i want..then change to manual. but very seldom la..most of the time i get what i want, juz change the focus point

A n S mode only control exposure...or how much light come in. they dont have anything to do with colour.

i dont have my lx3 with me now (my sis borrow 1 week plus already sad.gif ) but if u want to play with the colours, go into P mode (A, S, M can also), press down the joystick thing, and in the 1st column (got standard, dynamic, b&w, etc) select custom n play around with it. but this stuff actually u can do in PP...i prefer to shoot in standard so i can choose what effect i want later in lightroom....

i tried using AF, moved the curser to the word "thingy" n change to Macro mode, but still when i halfshutter/AF lock it is not focusing at the word "thingy", how come huh?

that shot is using MF, cursor put at the word "thingy" den MF but ended up focusing the word "PM" instead  sweat.gif

and pm is not even in the cursor...
*
AF doesnt work if we want to focus very near like in ur photo. this is when we need MF

u meant in the camera, the 'thingy' looks clear but when u shoot, suddenly the PM become clear?

i got question... adjusting ISO is adjusting the sensitivity of the sensor to get a brighter picture right.. so how does Exposure composition works? is it just the software making the picture more bright/dark (like what we can do in photoshop) or got theory behind it?

You mean exposure COMPENSATION? It deliberately over- or under-exposes the shot for you. Sometimes the exposure that the camera thinks is perfect might not be bright enough for you, so you increase the EV value to over expose it.
*
oh sorry, the other word just appeared while i was typing tongue.gif yes compensation. it does it by changing aperture or shutter speed?

Hi all,

New user of LX3 here. Got it last Nov @ RM1650 @ Lowyat with Pendrive 8Gb.

I have finally read V3 from the first page to the last one here  biggrin.gif

I hope to share with you guys. My summary for LX3, most needed is the Ricoh LC-1 Lens Cap, then comes the Yamiya Kata bag, because the shell type hard case sucks.

Some one mentioned here those PnS cameras with touch screens and what nots....that sucks too. I previously bought a Sony T900 for my wife, but later found that it's just for show. With LX3, it's got soul man.

Nice forum. Keep posting.  rclxms.gif

they give u pendrive? not SD card?

so rajin read from 1st page to last! thumbup.gif Sony T series memang all for show ma...n i, for one, feel touchscreen camera is too slow to change settings n such. maybe it's just me

Yeh!  LX3 is a good companion to DSLR.  At least it is a very good investment for quick Macro shots.  When u go out to buy the $$$ Macro lens (and find out how difficult to perfect the shoots)  u will miss your LX3.
*
good point... was thinking of selling mine as well, but macro shots is really LX3's strength... can focus very near. will be missing that if i did hehe tq

maybe u put the LC-1 a tad too tight...or try to turn it to a diff angle see if it works...the lids has got this swivel arm which if u put in too tight, might come in contact with the camera body...

Another possibility is that your double sided tape is taped too near to the swivel part....but from your picture i believe u havent put the tapes rite.

So far my LC-1's flaps are all good...i got it from yamiya too but after trying, I think i prefer the original lens cap...so letting the LC-1 go...anyone interested here do PM me ya  thumbup.gif
*
why do u prefer the original lens cap?

actually i juz like the look of the string attached from the side of the LX3 body to the lens cap.... looks like monocle heheh.. blush.gif

umm guys, i've just starting shooting RAW on my camera, and when i import them into lightroom 2.5... performance dropped a lot compared to dealing with JPEGs (of the same picture/resolution). i'm aware that RAW files contain more info n such...but do u guys suffer any substantial lag when dealing with RAW files? my specs are as below, using 9600m gt.

how to snap a person with blurry background? but the person is clear to see
*
put in Aperture priority mode, set as 2.0 then focus on the model. take ur photo from an angle so that the person is furthest away from the background. the further the background is, the blurrier it gets.

u can also try to zoom to maximum (60mm) and set to the lowest aperture (2.8), take from the same angle. but this one u have to stand back a bit. see which one u like smile.gif this is better if u wanna use flash cuz the flash wont be too harsh on the model

erm.... may i know how much for a Ricoh Lc-1 lencap? by the way, wat kind of lens i can install to my LX3?
*
quite rugi to install another lens in front of the beautiful leica. but pana has a 18mm equiv. wide angle lens converter around rm600+. very nice to shoot landscapes smile.gif

i'd avoid the cheap stuff (e.g. pandabase brand). why pay for worse quality photos
