Hello there ,

I am new to body building , and i have some plan . I going to use 3 basic workout as my plan .

Dumbbell press / Push up ( chest, shoulders, triceps)
Pull-ups ( back, bicep)
Dumbbell Lunges (legs, lower back)

I think this 3 combination can workout basic whole body and wont cause unbalance muscle ,something like big here small there / chicken leg rclxms.gif . Does your guy think doing these 3 workout in one day or doing these 3 workout in 3 different day would be better for maximum muscle grow ? I personally think that if workout 3 type of stimulate muscle compound exercise would need more protein in one day then workout each exercise in different day . Thus if you didn't consume enough protein that day it would be a waste . For example, push up (Monday) - Pull-ups (Wednesday) - Dumbbell Lunges (Friday) i do it with 1 set , 8 repetition , full and slow movement , rest 90 second (will slowly increase the dumbbell weight if i can do more then 8 repetition) . So i think if train in 3 different day for 3 workout would be better for muscle grow and needed less protein supply Anyway this is just my opinion . Oh , i also plan trying 6 mini meal rather then normal 3 meal on workout day and the continuous day . Let say i workout on Monday , then i will having 6 mini meal on Monday and Tuesday . Will this work or need some improvement? Thanks !

I suggest you read up on the many already set up workout regimes and choose one which suits you.

My guy thinks that you need a program such as Rippetoe and also 6 small meals is a good plan, finding what to eat everyday is the challenge!

Sadly, muscle growth doesn't work according to your rules/opinions, ie. 1 set of three types of exercises in 1 week.

Not enough sets and not hitting all angles, might as well don't train at all.

And to answer your question, no, this won't work at all.

Beginners, I recommend any sort of full body workout, 4-5 days a week, failure at 4-6 rep range, for the first 3 months. If you manage to do that, come back after 3 months and we'll guide you to a higher level.

You'll need to search for full body workouts in bb.com yourself.

No modifying, stick to the plan like a real man.

Oh and eat a lot.

That's how I started btw.

From your previous thread, I thought you are doing a full body routine, with DB press, pull ups and lunges all in one session. LOL!
Come one, push ups only once a week is too little, right?

I think you should go refer to simplefit.org to have an idea of the volume needed for a small amounts of growth.
What you've got will just keep you moderately fit. It won't put on lots of muscles.

Like what those guys said, Rippetoe or Stronglifts 5x5 is recommended (if you have access to a set of barbell).

Oops , maybe i use wrong term.... sweat.gif What i mean by one set is do 3 times , each time is 8 repetition . Sorry , i still not yet fully inside this body building world , might make mistake.. @@ If according to your guys understanding , you all might think i do one one time of 8 repetition , LoL . Anyway thanks for your guys advice icon_rolleyes.gif . Body building indeed can consider another type of knowledge ,might needed trial and error.

3 sets X 8 reps
Which is 24 reps of DB presses/push ups (and pull ups and lunges) in a week?
That's seriously way too little to promote any significant growth. Look at hundredpushups.com. By week 3, it is 100++ push ups per session. What can that measly 24 reps do for you? cry.gif

Seriously, if you can get to a gym, do Rippetoe or Stronglift 5x5.
If you're stuck at home the just do the simplefit.org thing... like right now! (you can do lunges instead of squats; DB press instead of push ups.) Then read up and ask around to gain more knowledge.

First, just freaking do something that works instead of wasting brain juice to come up with a routine-which-is-not-a-routine, can ah?

Yeah, that's the point. One might spend hours, days, weeks just to read up on various info and to come up with a cool routine himself.
That why he might as well just start with some good routine now while he goes around reading. At least he is doing something.
