lol... expensive PSUs are expensive for a reason.. so are cheap PSUs are cheap for a reason XD ... i forgot where ive seen a review about huntkey.. but i guess when you see it.. you would avoid that brand lol (in the review.. the PSU exploded @ 100% usage stress test)

man.. i cant push my i5 any higher than 3.41ghz with 1.15v XD.. i wonder if anyone did better than this with 1.15? just curious about the quality of my current proc

yeah2 i know about huntkey...but they say this X7 900w modular is different...its perform quite good...
can be catagorize as high end PSU with 80+ silver certified...
see the mini review of this PSU:

http://www.hardwarezone.com/ourvoice/blog/...-Inside-And-Out

btw after asking opinion from LYN members i decide to go for xigmatek NRP 750 modular PSU...
works really well for me now... wub.gif wub.gif

why push to 3.4Ghz oni bro??
try push higher la... brows.gif brows.gif
3.6 or 4Ghz maybe brows.gif brows.gif

p/s:nice,TS already change this thread topic so our little brother i3 can join also... laugh.gif laugh.gif thumbup.gif

nah.. i wanna keep it undervolted and see how high it can be pushed.. electric bill kurang sikit ma XD.. optimizing power consumption and performance = better efficiency rclxms.gif

btw 4ghz stable is easy only (thanks to 45nm).. last time i just slap my vcore to 1.37v, lowest ram multiplier.. lowest qpi multiplier.. and wala! 200X20 .. but make sure youre using a good cooler when doing it... i think the hyper 212+ is not that powerful in terms of cooling.. besides at the time when i bought my i5 (2 days after its official launch.. there's no compatible cooler yet ><) thats why i use back my old CCF from my C2D system.. and found a way to mount it on the 1156 cool2.gif (you just need a drill and some screws and bolts. btw.. the CCF load @ 4ghz is 67C brows.gif

80plus testing is not really intense when they give out the certificates ler... they test only @ 28C not 50C which is the optimum temp for PSU (most cheap ones the efficiency dropped @ 50C)

ive not read about the xiggy 750w modular but i think you made a good choice of not getting the huntkey.. but should get seasonic ler.. single rail 12v+ awesome~~

not modular lo.. depends on ppl la.. if youre creative enough.. even non modular shouldnt be an issue.. as for me i prefer non modular coz correct me if im wrong.. non modulars had longer cables than modular ones..

your xiggy.. after reading a review i find it not bad.. can handle 100% stress so yea.. its good

anyways.. OC-ing can seriously see your electric bill naik lol (especially if you're the type that leaves the pc on for 24/7) the diff in running on 4.0ghz and my cerrent setting is 50 ringgit diff yawn.gif

you need to raise up your CPU voltage power. Low OC didn't need to adjust the cpu volt, but if you want it to go higher you need to adjust the voltage to make it stable. smile.gif

c1e halt? i think thats good tho.. it really helps reduce your power consumption by alot.. and alot i mean by ALOT.. mine goes down to 0.84v on idle rclxms.gif and since its introduced in the C2D.. ive been OC-ing so far.. c1e doesnt cause me much problem... also it helps keep your proc cool during idle state as well.. like my i5 now enjoys 32C-33C @1.5ghz on 0.84v when im surfing the net and MiRC-ing

tho honestly i've never used any AMI-bios related hardwares coz im more comfortable with pheonix/AWARD (now there's gigabyte ,biostar and DFI that uses it left) but i doubt its a bios problem hmm.gif ... my guess its a hardware related issue.. but if it works fine on stock then my guess is wrong.. but if it is...then try OC-ing with one stick of rams and see..or swap with another pair ... thats bcoz 2.8ghz - 3.3ghz is not a huge leap that requires much voltage bumping (i experienced this with my DDR2 dominators.. so i took it for a swap.. and the problem is gone after that biggrin.gif )

edit: @ selfdz87 : youre not afraid your lappy HDD kong meh.. torrenting really kills your HDD man.. thats why i use a super old 160GB drive which has its warranty period over for torrenting

Thanks for the advice guys. Will try updating the bios and swap RAMS later.

Speaking of Reboots Fail.

I have the same issue while overclocking with my OLD C2D E6300 before.

Can OC to 2.7 GHZ and Prime 12 hour.......cannot boot after restart.

Then I switch my rig entirely, MB , CPU , PSU, ....

and the issue come back and haunt me... could it be a software - level issue ?

Added on January 12, 2010, 3:38 pmOk, after updating the bios.....I have another issue.

i can successfully boot now but CPU-Z and my benchmarks show that i'm running in 2.5 GHZ. shocking.gif shocking.gif

All setting in BIOS shows 3.2 GHZ sweat.gif

OK, i Found out that I cannot pass 3.1 GHZ ..... using bios V1.6.

whenever I try to OC 3.2 GHZ, the failled OC stuff come out.

Added on January 12, 2010, 4:41 pmThe 2.5 GHZ showing issue is somewhat related to my inability to pass 3.1 GHZ.

Whenever I manage to luck-boot at 3.2 ghz.....the 2.5GHZ shows in CPU-Z

Added on January 12, 2010, 7:59 pmBtw, can anyone gimmi bios 1.2 - 1.5 ?

Wanna try older bios to see if it's the same.

your BClk*your multiplier is correct in CPUz (128X20 = 2.56ghz).. is your BClk set on 128Mhz? coz thats lower than stock :/ aside from CPUz.. what other application show you? 2.56 also?.. i ask this coz cpuz sometimes screw up the reading.. there was ones it showed my CPU is 5ghz doh.gif

... im starting to feel that your bios chip is screwed.. try RMA the mobo XD

edit: you can get your bios by clicking this
